Summer's here and the time is right...for hitting the road. And while some folks enjoy the tours and the fests in deluxe accommodations, plenty of others are watching every dime to make it all happen.
How have YOU survived on tour? Any great tales of where to get good food or a place to stay at a decent price? Any businesses that welcome Our Kind (or at least don't freak out when we come to town)? Clever vending strategies (let's stick to the ones that will not attract unwelcome attention from law enforcement here, as on the Internet anyone can be reading anything...)? one thing that cracked me up
is that now there's a smartphone app for finding your lost car in the parking lot. It may only work on new Chevys, because that's who the commercial is for, but this is clearly a piece of technology we all need. Based on my personal experience anyway.
Most cars with keyless entry have this feature...
It's called the alarm button. It works real well!

Fare Thee Well, Santa Clara CA. We parked in RedLot 6, which was a golf course.....I made a point of noting that we were parked by a pond, near some trees...That golf course has LOTS of ponds and trees. After the show, my wife and kids and I staggered around that golf course for TWO hours looking for the car, while a helicopter circled overhead announcing that "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!" There were some very bright lights out there, but they were not pointed down, but rather right toward the eyes..
The next night, we were VERY VERY careful to note our surroundings after getting out of the car....It still took two hours to locate the car..SOBER.
Never park on a golf course!!!
