    every show has a story

my 14th .... our seats were right up against the back wall to the boxes ... the box behind us was empty ... and dark .. except for the 2 dudes the were chilling and drinking cans of Bud ! (no alcohol at this one !) so we, like them, hopped over and joined ! ... there was big football game scheduled the next day, so this must have been stocked for it ..(hey we were dumb college kids that saw a free score) .. so at the set break, we went to do the usual mingling in the hall, except my best friend (who really liked Bud ;-) .. when we got back, still nobody there, but the dudes next to us said the cops checked all the boxes, and my friend was tossed out (!) his jacket was right next to me ... oh shit ..so set 2 found us hopping the wall, grabbing beers, and hopping back quickly .. every so often we’d notice the lights go on behind us (cops re-checking every 20 min).. I’ll never forget one time the cop came right up behind us, shining his light down and we tactfully had the empties and full ones under the bench we sat on (!!) (so where was my friend ?) ... > he was outside freezing until the middle of Terrapin, when a kind security guard let him in as he begged ...he showed up and when the beers were gone, we killed a six pack of coke ! ahh the good ole days .. what a show ..the Band (w/o Robbie) opened, too ...

    Bagels!!
Road trip from Kent State to see the show. One of our peeps knew someone who let us stay at a frat house at Cornell University. They had a 50 gallon drum of bagels delivered to the house on Saturdays and that was the only food we had all weekend. Bread of life man! Needed it too with good Cornell sinsemilla. (It is an ag school too ya know!!) Checked out the gorges in Ithaca before we headed to the show. Soooooo cool! Worth another trip one day. I remember this was the first time I noticed tapers being overly obnoxious. Tapers used to be pretty chill but I think as shows went on, more expensive equipment was being used and dudes would be way too territorial. If you hear someone say "Dude relax." on a tape from this show, it's me!

    Favorite Show
My favorite Dead show. Drove 8 hours from CT with college buddies. I saw about 100+ shows from 1981-1994 and this was the best. I remember sitting waaaaaay up in the nosebleed seats, stage right. The Band: could hardly hear them. Then the Dead came on and blew the doors off the Dome. Every note sparkled from the Wang Dang Doodle to the Close Encounters/Crazy Fingers tease before China Cat Sunflower. Perhaps it was the friends I was with, the mood, the seats, the vibe, the tabs but I still get chills when I play this concert. I play keys in a Dead cover band and I'm still 'searching for that sound' from this night. When I arrived home at dawn, I put on Candyman, pulled the covers up, and smiled to my new favorite song. Peace.

After St. Stephen's in NY and Hartford everyone thought the big crowd in the Dome would get it too. Seemed like an appropriate way to end the tour. Everyone was hanging on every note at the end of space to see if they would drop into St. Stephen. They didn't. The disapointment was palpable...at least in my section. A forgettable show. Never did see that song....

I am sure that you guys were diappointed by not having seen those Stevens but this show was not forgetable. I thought the Shakedown was better than usual and into Wang Dang Dooddle! It was a nice finish to an incredible tour. I want to finish the story from the last two nights. We got to the parking lot after getting a nice meal and gas money from the ground score from the night before. But we were out of money again. Not enough dough to get home - forget a ticket to the show. We decided to pick up cans and bottles. We collected for hours, by the end we had enough money to get home and we found some discount tickets. By the skin of our teeth we got it done. What a great tour and year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dougles

This place was a trip. I remember being stuck in the crowd after the show was over on the way out. The suction was so great from the the dome that you actually almost would get blown over.

Drove up there with three chicks and two cases of beer. One of the girls worked for Scher so we had fourth row center but I never made it there. I ended up spaced out in the upper deck last row catching trails. A first generation aud tape of this show player for a decade in my car. Awesome Shake/Wang. Wonder where those girls are now. The sun will shine......in my backdoor someday!

This was a pretty good show; excellent shakedown, and wang dang doodle, always a treat. The terrapin was pretty good, and having just broken out st. stephen, the vibe was fantastic. Never a dull moment walking through those wind tunnels at the end. I'll never forget, this was the only show I ever saw 2 people about to throw down, but just when everyone was waiting for the bloodshed (this was during intermission), these 2 guys threw their arms around each other and the whole section erupted in happiness. Just another day, I guess.

What can I say? The Dead like to play in Upstate NY. Though this was the last show of the tour, it was still fun. Shakedown was a strong opener, the Bird Song was nice. Terrapin, and Revolution to end the tour. Not a bad way to leave the east coast. I had fun there that's for sure even though the place was huge!

This was my second show at this point I believed all shows started with Shakedown Street...lol...enjoyed seeing The Band...My roomate St Pierre had not warn a particular coat since dragging me to my first show at Rochester War Memorial the previous spring...lucky for us a couple of tabs had fallen thru a hole in his pocket and were in the bottom inside of the coat...that made for a good time wink wink...During Not Fade Away it seems that I recall the band changing the count between "...Love so real not fade away..." and the "I'M AH GONNA TELL YOU HOW IT'S GONNA BE" I was gone and and yelled that no I was gonna tell yah...Good times. _____________________________ This must be heaven, cause here's where the rainbow ends. If this aint the real thing, it's close enough to pretend

My recollection of this show was that the place was too big and the sound where I was SUCKED!! I couldn't even hear The Band and GD was only a little better. If you were close maybe it was fun but after what went before it was a disapointment. I dragged my ass back to Maine!!

You're right Maine. We were on the floor but in the back. Everyone stood on their little fold out chairs the whole time. Alot of wind mills with the arms and grabbing your buddies to keep your balance while you do a half-ass dance on your seat. Can you imagine watching basketball in there? The ball would look like a BB. In 82 I was dosed to the gills and for some reason, enjoyed it alot more. Except when I ventured to the top and looked down.I didn't stay there long.
