this was my first Dead show. I came back the next night for more.I can still remember standing at the stage and swaying with the music.
a good day to be born...
So I (unfortunately) wasn't at the show....at least physically....but some part of me must have been. I "discovered" this show for the first time a few years ago and was totally stoked...you see, it was the day of my birth....nothing too special for anyone but me and maybe my mom, but perhaps you can understand my nostalgia and joy at hearing this for the first time...i think birthday shows are particularly telling and special and powerful - at least for the person who's birthday it might be...
and what a sweet show this was! Ironically the set has some of what would become 17 and 18 years later my favorite songs...each with a personal connection or story or echo of the past for me....
Like, for example, at 17 I also left my home in Virginia for the unknown splendor of the Promised Land ....
Birdsong is the ballad or distilled memory of first love...
El Paso is childhood and rash, tempestuous adolescence...
and on and on and on....
But enough of my blathering.....
I have only a semi-decent copy of the whole show and would be totally stoked if someone out there in the Deadosphere might know where I can find or procure a high quality recording of the show (as well as the 18th and 19th if possible...each a natural part of tghe whole)...
Feel free to email me if you think you might be able to help out....or respond here...I'm new to the Forums and the site but am eager to connect and reconnect with fellow Heads out and take my part in keeping the flame and spirit alive...
Thanks and take it slow with an easy wind blowin' ....
Lates...
