Andy was a model deadhead in his belief system or principals. Jerry would of have been proud to call him friend , he never wanted to be a typical fan or hassle anyone at anytime. He was my music partner we went to so many shows together , the ones on my profile is a small sampling. His knowledge of the music and the Dead plus numerous other band community was like a library of knowledge , The vault people could of used Andy. The following is his Obit and the DEADHEADS worldwide weather you knew him or not, should heed to his passing. His story is 30 years plus and amazing. It would take more space than I'm provided to tell the story from beginning to end. I have been given his music collection , which is quite extensive in tapes as well as CD's , Probably more than 3000 pieces or more. I will be cataloging this collection of live shows and all. The following is the OBIT , My Tears have flown for three days now since I found out. Yesterday was the big day for the furneral and being with his family. Well, I'm looking for this guy who gave me his ticket for my first Dead show August 5th 89 in Cal Expo saying "Take mine, it's your first show!". I don't know anything about him and I got only this fuzzy picture you should find on my fan photo site. Read the whole story here: http://www.dead.net/forum/deadheads-europe?page=36 (Posted: May 30, 2008 - 2:00pm). Although it was almost 20 years ago, I really would like to thank him as from there on, I am a deadhead, you understand?Anybody can help? Ah wait, this girl who gave me the ride and was kind of in love with him, her name was Alissa. Thank you all, Frank --- www.stash-radio.de

Jane is a beautiful lady with long red hair, always wore it braided. She lived in Colorado in the 80's. We did the Europe tour in '90 together, with her boyfriend Jason, think Jason was a taper for awhile. I'd love to know how you're doing Jane!! Also would love to know where Brian Sheehy is these days. He would always show up late to our usual table for Jerry shows at the Warfield, throw his backpack down and sit on the top of our table.

I've recently been on a quest to find out "who's my daddy..." I contacted both the adoption agency as well as a private investigating agency to assist me. According to both sources my biological father was a drummer for a very popular band which is still known today. They would not release the name...only non-identifying information. They also told me he had dark brown/black hair and blue eyes. Contact was then made with my biological grandfather and he said it was the Grateful Dead....do you think this could be possible? I promise I'm not a crazy person....just someone trying to find my roots. Don't want to interrupt or cause chaos in anyone's lives, nor am I looking to gain anything other than knowledge of where I came from. If anyone thinks they can help me with this....I'd be GRATEFUL!

Well, I've been looking at the photos of both Mickey and Bill.....Weird thing is I can see a resemblance in Mickey but some of Bill's photos look like my 15 year old son. Can anyone else out there see the resemblance or is it just me? Help me out guys....I'd really like to know. If anyone has thoughts on other bands that had a drummer with brown/black hair and blue eyes I could be looking at let me know. I was born in 1969 to an unwed mother who was a groupie....her name is Billie.

hi-just wanted to say good luck finding your father. Also, I believe both Mickey & Billy have brown eyes. If you've found your mother, she may be of more help than anyone. (as to what bands she was with) Also, where were you born? Frank Zappa had alot of groupies.......So, just good luck again! Gypsy Cowgirl

Thanks for responding to my post. I also appreciate you giving me other ideas as to bands to look at. I checked out Frank Zappa and it looks like he has brown eyes....Bill's photos looks like he has brown eyes, but Mickey's look like they may be blue. Unfortunately contact with my birthmother has proved to be difficult as she is still living like she was in the 60's...roaming and not settling down anywhere....bouncing from friends to friends. Contact was made with her father and he said she only calls and checks in periodically. When he was asked about what band he thought my father played for his response was Grateful Dead. She supposedly is still following some of the members...I was born in Alaske in 1969, but she was only there visiting her mother and step father as he was in the military there. After she had me she brought me back to her Dad's house in Houston, Tx. I don't know where she was when I was conceived. I wish I knew where my incredible genes came from...as it doesn't appear it was from my mom...lol! Just kidding! I think my father would be proud of me...I'm well accomplished in life and have always had a natural gift of being musically inclined. I've taught dance for the last 20 years as a hobby...funny, Bill's mother was a dance teacher! There is no telling who he could be and I'll probably never find out. I would just hate to go through life and leave this earth never knowing. I enjoy getting to know others on this site and really appreciate both you and gratefulmom for responding to my post.

Mickey's eyes are brown.............good luck on your quest Too bad your birth mom is not more cooperative! "Brown-eyed women and red grenadine, The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean. Sound of the thunder with the rain pourin' down, And it looks like the old man's gettin' on." think all you can do now is listen to the music play.......... xoxox Gypsy Cowgirl

1995 Grateful Dead Fan – “Jason Doe” I'm trying to help identify a young man who died in a car crash in 1995, 2 weeks after attending a Grateful Dead concert at RFK in Washington, DC. Found in his pocket with 2 ticket stubs was a note that read, "To Jason, Sorry we had to go. See you around. Caroline O. and Caroline T." The note included a phone number that began with the numbers 914. Details on "Jason Doe": Approx. Age: 16 - 22 years of age (in 1995) Approx. Height: 5'8" - 5'10" Approx. Weight: 160 - 170 lbs. Hair: Light Brown/Dark Blonde - dyed Red (some sites claim it’s natural red) Eyes: Brown Distinguishing Characteristics: Homemade tattoo of a 5 point star on his left arm. His left ear was pierced but he was not wearing an earring. I don't know how to post pictures, but there are 2 images of him, one is a police sketch and the other is a reconstruction. I'm hoping someone from the 90's remembers him and can help identify him so that he can be returned to his family. If you would like more details or to see the images, please go to the Doe Network: www.doenetwork.org Case #127UMVA If you have any information that you think can help identify him, please contact: The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner: 1-800-447-1706 Case #123526

Short guy with glasses, skinny. He used to hang with a friend of his selling stir fry. Anyone know a Phil from PA? This was from the spring tour of 88.

Anyone know a Sunny or Sunshine on tour for many years? I met her in Landover 90 or around there. (I've been to every Landover show since 86 so they get melted together sometimes! lol) Anyway, she was the kindest. Kinda heavy set with a HUGE smile all the time. She gave me her long sleeve dye cause it was cold that night and we hung the whole night in the lot. Had a great time. If this rings a bell and you remember this night, give me a holla! I miss your kindness, it touched me that night, your spirit was wonderful!

I'm looking for that guy I met at the Chinese New Year's shows in Oakland, '93. My first show, and this guy showed me the ropes, introduced me to the love of the scene and I was amazed, overwhelmed, lost, and tripping hard all at the same time. Can't remember his name, but I can quote him. It was set break. and I asked if that was it....did I miss a lot? He says "Is it over? You thought that was the end of the show? Hell no, it ain't over yet, that was just the first set! Stick around brother." I gave him a backstage pass I had acquired cuz I was so happy just to be where I was at. Skipped the chance to meet Jerry so an old fan that was just so kind to me could realize a dream. What a way to meet the Grateful Dead, huh!?!? I'm also looking for Almish Nelterson, or a copy of his book, "WOW". It should be bright orange, with big letters say WoW. This book was being distributed at the Shoreline shows in '94. I also want to say hi to Teach, Shaggy from Oklahoma, everyone in Vegas, Tulsa, Reno, Montreal, and Susanville that still search for the sound. @DarkStarGazer@ wishes all well and good.

Was in a band way back there in1972. We were bored kids in the neighborhood...and we started a little garage band that grew out of some bongos a mic and a tape recorder...an old guitar and a basement piano. We got focused and scraped up some bucks with odd jobs, paper routes and allowances. Before long, we built us a little PA, upgraded to "big" amps and a few Shure mics. I added a 2nd hand pearl drum kit to my bongo jams and off we went. A strobe light and our own patch-it- together lights and we got us a few gigs at party's and the school dance. Never had so much fun in my life. We called ourselves Spectrum and or Freight Train...There was another local band that was called Earth Spirit...We made all of $75 for the dance but after the split it worked out to $11 and change and it was worth every penny to see those people dancin'. Jim Moore on keyboard, Andy Ferretti and Rick Blais on guitar. Mark Izard on Bass...Jeff Mantooth singin' his heart out and I rolled the sticks. Some of the set included; Revival, Down By The River, Walk Away, It Don't Come Easy, Are You Ready, Guitar Gently Weeps....the rest will come to me as I let the memory return through the years. If you guys are out there touch base please. It would be a trip. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Walk into splintered sunlight Inch your way through dead dreams to another land" Robert Hunter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
