Yes Reaching for the gold ring
The park across the street added to the allure of the Kaisers. Always felt like home. I can remember my 1st time there in feb of 85 for the Chinese New Years show's . I was so blown away by the calmness of all of us. It felt like a mellow party not a concert. Or as we use to call them a "show". Anyone ever go to another place with such a laidback scene? Maybe the Berkeley Community Theater or Marin civic. Funny how they all seem to be in the bay area. Living on the east coast for 1st 18 years of my life then the bay area for the next 10 years or so changed my way of thinking living and loving. When I left my Rehab - haven't we all been to ONE ? I will never forget my counsler calling my family back into the breeze way to inform them that he doubted I would stay sober due the fact that I suffered from a laid back California type of attitude. Ha how's that for a statement. SUFFER? No one could suffer from such a thing.

Your Description is Spot On - A Must Have Show
Although I did not attend this show I do have a board tape and this is concert is AWESOME! Very muscular and heavy from start to finish. As I mentioned in my attachment for the rare flyer I have: Phil, Bob Billy, Mickey and the members of the Rex Foundation Board should seriously consider releasing this show as a benefit/fund raiser release just like that 1990 Landover Maryland CD. Here is a link to a flyer for this show on this website: http://www.dead.net/fanphotos/handbill-grateful-dead-benefit-show-kaise…

The next time I learn a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a lot as this one. I mean, I do know it was my choice to read, but I truly thought youd have something attention-grabbing to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you may fix when you werent too busy in search of attention.locksmith pinecliffe co ectoplasmatic . locksmith dacono co helomata . locksmith denver co sapience . locksmith lynnwood wa speechlessness . locksmith boring or spirally . locksmith edmonds merotomy .

Wow, 11/7/87 Kaiser, how the mind reels...the only show of the 67 I attended where the lights went up after the encore but then went back down again and the band came back for a second, unplanned encore. As I recall (always a loaded proposition) the crowd simply WOULD NOT LEAVE and also would not stop screaming. Yes, I know, the crowd also did this at [insert your show here] that you went to, but the band never came back out. What can I say, it was defintely one those "You had to have been there" moments. My first-ever visit to California as well, and I can honestly say that I have never been treated with such hospitality before or since. That little park across the street from the Kaiser provided the greatest vending/hangout scene of any shows I ever went to. Great memories; think I'll go hunt up that tape now... "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."

Tampa Red -- the Kaiser Nov 87 were my first California shows as well--also turns out to be the smallest venue I ever witnessed the band. What a great place and energy - the park/outside scene was unbelievable. Goodies on display, like a flea market of fun --I thought this was the best night of the 3, but these were my 5,6 and 7th shows and given the locale--I might not recall as well as I would like to believe. I ended up seeing CA shows at Cal Expo, Greek, Shoreline, Irvine, Oakland Co and as magical as the Greek is...have to say Kaiser was something special.

I was at this show. I was in Santa Barbara from the east coast with a high school buddy doing an off campus program. Two 17 year olds that had procured mail order tickets months before. Our host family parents were away and we were under the care of "grandma" for the weekend. Well we flew the coop and hitch hiked the 500 or so miles up to Oakland for these shows. We got picked up by every major criminal in the state of California. A guy who just got let out of prison for burglary, who told us he'd watch our stuff while we went to the rest rooms, a crazy Vietnam vet and two Latinos, one of which just busted out of prison. This guy was hitting the carpet every time we saw a cop car so I don't doubt his story. Well we made it to Oakland and had a great weekend. now I'm really wondering why we didn't just take a greyhound? any ways, at the time, the venue seemed so big to me. I remember looking down at the people on the floor thinking it was such a mass of people. Now i feel so lucky to have seen the dead at such a small venue. I followed the dead between 83 to about 93 and this was the smallest venue by far. i remember loving the Saturday night show. hazy memories but very happy times. Well, decades later and still listening incessantly and just got back from the sphere (7/12) with my wife and two kids. Now my 11 and 12 year olds are totally on the bus and have been for many years. The other day I caught my son singing "I could arm a town the size of Abilene. Hey dad, where's Abilene?" A proud moment for sure. back in 87 id never thought this Dead experience, music and culture would last another 37 years and be so cross generational. amazing!
