As an artist I appreciate this. thank you. The dead community has plenty of "free" content out there in the form of tapes. There is a lot of work that goes into commercial release's and all involved deserve to get compensated for their work. It is in the fans interest so these release's keep coming. pk

because it was yet another solicitation to make an illegal copy of a commercial release by someone who apparently thought the post above did not apply to him. It does. Again, do not offer or solicit copies of commercial releases here. Such solicitations are unacceptable here and will be removed. Thank you.

    Music Management Software
I am sorry for asking this as I am sure it has been well covered, but I need to know what the best music management software is... I have about 800 live Dead/JGB CDs and about 4000 hours of tapes that I am going to start ripping/saving as wav files, but I am not sure what program is the best one to use to label everything by show, year, date, etc. I am not doing store bought stuff, just lust live recordings. I would like to buy a huge external HD to hold all of this stuff (or two or three), but would love to have a way to easily access the shows/songs. I realize I will have to do a lot of leg, er finger, work to rename the songs, dates, etc., and I am fine with that as I plan to do this over a year or so. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hey, anyone know where I can score some copies of the old Golden Road zine? Also, a friend of mine used to have this sweet hologram GD watch, I think it was the hat-tipping skeleton with the cane. I've been looking for one of these for my bro forever (he lost his) but no dice. Anyone? Oh, and hey PhilZone - copies of the oop Fillmore 69 box go for around 300 on eBay (with the bonus disc), if that suits yr wallet a little finer than 800-1000 (what scammer's been quoting you those prices??).........

Please do not solicit recordings of commercial releases, however out of print. Lots of people are bummed about the limited edition aspects of this box set, and I don't blame them, but as others have noted, a)yes, it is a limited edition and that's why people want so much for it, evidently because they think someone will pay that much (hey, I missed it myself), and b)making unauthorized copies of it or soliciting same in this forum is not okay. Sorry.

In 2004, The Dead posted one song from each show on the tour on the website for download. I just had a recent hard drive crash and lost mucho GB of live music. (I was going to backup, I swear). Most of these songs I had burned to CD, and I only need the last four songs on the tour. Can anybody point me to a download site to grab these four songs. I would prefer the unedited versions, as e-tree has a (dead) torrent with edited files. Thanks much.

Hi everyone, I'm a longtime Deaddite (I grew up listening to Aoxomoxa and Live/Dead with my parents...one of my earliest memories is Dark Star on vinyl. Love it.). Anyway, the journey of life has landed me in Jackson, Mississippi and around the city and a few other places around the state I've seen what I describe as "Mississippi Your Face" stickers in bars and concert venues and cars. They're round, about 4" in diameter, and red, white, and blue. You know, what you'd expect. I've seen new ones added in the last few months, so I know the person (or people) that have them are still doing their thing. I'd like one for my car and my girlfriend would REALLY like one for her bike as she's moving to Manhattan soon (she's got an awesome job with the NYC Public Library). Anyone have any clue who this is? Or where I should look? Peace, GreatWhiteSlark

one got just too many holes in it, the other was stolen from me....anyway, if anyone can help me re-find two of my favorite shirts that i bought on tour, i would totally pay you for them.....one was one that i bought at the Sandstone Ampitheatre show on July 4,1990 on the front it had a Steal Your Face with a peace sign inside, and read "Once in Awhile You Get Shown the Light..." ; on the back it had a map of summer tour 1990 and said "....in the Strangest of Places If You Look at it Right" (of course the great aside to getting that shirt there was the fact that the Boys played one of the best 1990s versions of Scarlet>Fire at that show: mid-set!!) the other shirt I'd love to find again I bought at a Cal Expo show in 1991: it read "Only Love Can Phil" with a multi-colored heart dripping into a multi-colored pool. If anyone out there happens to have either of these that they'd want to sell, please email me at: 07erw@alumni.williams.edu peace.

Hello there, I'm an author and I'm writing a book called Touch Me I'm Sick: How Big Ideas Spread Online. It's a study of how the entertainment industry has used the internet to communicate with fans over the last ten years. I'm exploring the comparison between fans of the British band The Arctic Monkeys swapping songs online and The Grateful Dead's tapers. Were you a taper? Do you have any photos from gigs? It would be excellent to hear from you. Yours faithfully, Lee Henshaw.

Over the summer of 2008, I had the opportunity to work with photographer Peter Simon, brother to Carly Simon, as a personal assistant/intern. I was very inspired by his work and would like to share his Grateful Dead photos with the Dead community. Check out the archives on www.petersimon.com if you are looking for intimate, rare, and exclusive photos of Jerry Garcia or the band. Peter Simon was a close friend of Jerry's, so he was able to capture a rare inside look into the bands history that others simply did not have access to. He shared many a joint with the man, as he went on tour with the band numerous times! I was blown away by his original, silver gel shots of the band. Done in the dark room the old fashioned way, there is nothing cooler than a piece of history copied right off the original negatives! www.petersimon.com

I was reading searching for people and "bulletproof" wrote a blog about "Dance your ass off" which remided me of something I have been looking fo for a while. Anyone remember the "DEADERCISE" t-shirts found at shows, think may have been 88, anyway I used to have one but like so many wore it till it fell of me. Tried google and all that but no luck. would love to find some. They had different dancing skeleton scenarios, kinda went along with the club dead stuff, which I can't find anymore either. i just love the whole deadercise concept just think about how many calories you burn per show what 3-4 hrs continuous movement what a deal. so if anybody knows sharethe knowledge thanx.

I'm wanting to get a set of the Tapers Compendium. New copies would be great, if available, but I guess they are out of print now. I'm looking for any or all three volumes + the addendum. Through Amazon there are sellers with used/very good condition books and Vol. 1 isn't too bad, but Vol. 2 is fifty to eighty dollars & Vol. 3 is nearly a hundred bucks. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're worth it but a hundred bucks for a paperback is kinda steep. If any of you folks know of a source for these I'd appreciate a personal msg. Thanks, MarkintheDark

thanks all...I found a downloadable version from Buckeye Lake 1993 that I attended...was terribly over-served so don't remember it all that clearly. We got there very early to avoid the inevitable Buckeye traffic but spent those idle hours in the parking lot visiting the devil's workshop I suppose. can't figure out how to download and burn some concerts...they go directly to i-tunes but I can't make a CD: this show has a SMOKIN' F.H. but I can't burn a for-personal-use-only copy 09/08/93- Richfield Coliseum - Richfield, OH. Any ideas? I'm low tech. my college aged sons and friend said that format could not be copied but I felt I was semi-patronized and blown off. If you have selected a soundboard version of your show it's only available for streaming audio. you can listen to this as a stream or download the files in several formats - if you do SHN, then you will have to get a program to convert them to WAV before burning to CD. Etree has some good tools & background descriptions you can read at your own leasurehttp://www.etree.org/mkw.html Note - you CAN capture the soundboard streams - but you need the tools to do it. I believe Silent Bob can do it - but the final quality will depend on your equipment. http://www.5starshare.com/Silent-Bob_basic-soft249.html

It's only money, after all, and I've done some way stupider things with money. Volume three via Amazon was a hundred bucks (very like new except for a couple of "discard" stamps: its a library discard but the library had reinforced the spine w/nice clear tape so it's almost better than new), volume two was around $60 and is totally new. Gotta great deal on volume one via eBay though: the seller was selling V1, + a copy of What a Long Strange Trip (the songbook), and a copy of the Official Book of the Deadheads (pub 1983). Won the auction for $12! All these and a couple more Deadish books are this year's Xmas presents for myself (I'd be getting a copy of the new 365 book through the deadstore w/my new Road trips but the deadstore is currently out of inventory) Can't find a copy of the Taping Addendum anywhere though. Any suggestions/leads would be much appreciated. I got mine on eBay several years ago, $300 for an opened copy. Pristine, but opened. Don't know what they're bidding up to now but I saw a "Buy it now" unopened for $895. What can ya do, they're not getting any cheaper, and they're not making any more ;^( It's not just "out of print", it was a limited, numbered edition of 10,000 copies that went quick, as I recall. ********************************************* I have a sigfile! --> www.kindveggieburritos.com *********************************************

Reading boss2003 post about the complete fillmore 69 recordings got me interested, as I do not have the box either. $999.99 on ebay right now. Thats 1250 Canadian. You could get the bonus disc alone for $75. Make your Dead heads holiday, yeah right maybe if I get everyone I know to pitch in.
