Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from a 10 year span in Grateful Dead history, from 1973, 1982 and 1983.
We'll first make a stop on the East Coast with music from the second night of a two night at Nassau Coliseum on 9/8/73, with music from the first set featuring Jack Straw, Row Jimmy, Weather Report Suite. This is the first-ever live WRS Part 1, and first complete Weather Report Suite, with the Let It Grow portion debuting the night before at Nassau.
Next is the first set from 8/29/82 in Seattle, the night after the 10 year anniversary of Veneta '72 show in Oregon. From Seattle, we have Jack Straw > Big Railroad Blues ; Mama Tried > Mexicali Blues ; West L.A. Fadeaway ; Little Red Rooster ; Loser ; Cassidy ; It Must Have Been The Roses ; Let It Grow. This is the second West L.A. Fadeaway, with the song debuting the night before in Veneta.
From Eugene, Oregon on 8/30/83, we have the end of the second set from the middle night of a very hot three night run at the Hult, featuring Space>Throwing Stones>Not Fade Away>Wharf Rat>Sugar Magnolia. There is plenty of great music in this three night stand.
Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.
