Lake Acid uhh I mean Placid.
Easily a huge 5. Gargantuan Sugaree to open. Twenty some minutes worth. This was still off season for the lake and we got us a 5 star hotel for like $50. It was great. To Lay Me Down is one of my favorites and this is a worthy rendition.
Dougles
That was the best Sugaree. It just kept getting better.
Remember walking down main street and passing Phil who had a babe in each arm. Then grinning and saying Phil? as we passed by. He turned around and smiled. The fall colors and the human boogie wheel in the outer cooridor. There seemed to be wheels inside of wheels.....
Incredible Venue
Well worth the roadie from Rochester. First Touch of Grey I ever saw. I remember the human wheel too, it was very cool. I have this wierd memory of some girl handing out those wood game pieces from RISK as she was walking in the opposite direction of the wheel during The Wheel. We then drove to Paul Smith's College and crashed in a friends dorm room for the night. I've still got a taper's bootleg from the show.
My sister gave me a copy of
My sister gave me a copy of this show which was the first real time i was exposed to the Dead. That "Touch" and "Samson" got me hooked for the next 24 years. Havent seen that tape in a long time.
really....
a truly spectacular show in one of the coolest venues. check out this link to the first set: (killer sound quality)

I guess it doesn't really matter...anyway...
1st show with the guy I'm still married to now -wow!
Skipped classes at college to invade LP! So great, but yet so psychadelic that the drums almost did us in & what a long, strange ride back through the mountains!
Sugaree in front of stage
It might have been one of the most intense, super-hot versions of Sugaree in my memory.I was very close to the stage during the first set and the energy was completely off the charts. I would love to find a great quality recording of this show.
I recall the Birdsong was also outstanding...
human wheel
I remember sitting I'm the top bleachers growing. The wheel was mystical and how I was magically pulled I'm front of Jerry for the hottest goin' down the road I'll never know the whole 2day experience was one of the best
great show
For those who might read this that were not there the human wheel was something to see and remember.. It was a sper of the moment thing. Just one of those moments when everyone in the lower bowl just grabbed hands and we all made a completel ring around the area. Only at a dead show could something like this happen. Never planned just came to be. I love To lay me down so this is a top notch show. I was very lucky to have been to a few other To lay me down shows. Starlight 82 new haven 81 I think Roochester 82 amd then the later years in 88 and 89
roadblock?
wasn't there a state police road block off one of the exits on the way into town? As I recall many had spoke of it in town. I do know we screwed up and took the wrong exit by mistake. Had to double back on the back roads. Again beautiful ride from show to show. At least the northern part of this tour anyway.
