Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll be playing some music from 1973, and a double dose of early Brent-era Dead from 1981 and 1983.
Our first selection this week is from 11/25/73 in Tempe, AZ, where we have three tracks, the later two of which were brand new to most ears, as Wake Of The Flood had only been released a few weeks earlier on 10/15/73. From Tempe, we have Around and Around, Eyes of the World>Weather Report Suite.
Next up is music from the Capital Center in Landover, MD on 9/27/81, the last show of a very short three night tour that preceded the start of the Dead's Europe '81 tour, which began on 9/30/81 in Scotland. From the last US show for a little while, we have Spanish Jam>Wharf Rat>I Need A Miracle>Good Lovin', It's All Over Now Baby Blue.
Our last selection this week the entire first set from 10/21/83 in Worcester, MA, where we have The Music Never Stopped, Loser, C C Rider, Cumberland Blues, Cassidy, Ramble On Rose, My Brother Esau, Big Railroad Blues > The Promised Land. This has long been a favorite show of mine from 1983. Some mighty inspired playing.
Be sure to stop by next week for more tunes from the vault.
