    so good
Well this is seems like a really nice set list that a lot of you would have heard off. Most of these tracks are really poplar among music lovers. If you haven’t it is high time you lend your ears to something like this. It’s a class apart. sell skymiles

    setlist?
Anyone have a set list for this show? Chances are there was no Dark Star or St. Stephen. Pig was there so Alligator?, Caution maybe? The Dead just picked up a stash of tapes. Hopefully, they'll fill in some of the missing gaps from this era...

    Strange politico night
I was there, a young lefty, for mainly the Grateful Dead but with interest in the speeches of the Black Panther leadership as well. As previously said, after the political speeches finished, the entire group of Black Panthers and supporters left the building, as well as most of the politicos, leaving a very small audience.... for - if memory serves - a short but tight set of music. And yes it was at the Oakland Auditorium.

...shall we go, you and I while we can... Joe Klien, now Newsweek editor, then, Rolling Stone reporter, tells a funny story about how Huey Newton, Black Panther Party Chairman, gave a long, rather boring speech before the band went on. As he introduced them, ALL the black people left the place! "There were like 50 or so people left,so we all sat onstage to hear the band" JK The benefit came about because the band was on a flight with Huey, who asked them to perform while in mid-air...Jerry, of course agreed. The man who couldn't say no....

Funny story! I always wondered about this show - seemed a strange combo. By the way the notes for this show are incorrect - the Airwaves Benefit was on 3/3/71 (even though the poster says 3/3/70) Also, according to the poster it was held at the Oakland Auditorium Arena (aka Kaiser), not Fillmore West.
