Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have music from Brent's first three years in the Grateful Dead, 1979, 1980 and 1981.
Our first selection this week is from 12/3/79 in Chicago, when the Dead were starting a three night run at the Uptown. From the start of the show, we have Alabama Getaway>Promised Land, Brown-Eyed Women, El Paso, Ramble On Rose.
From a shade under a year later on 11/28/80 in Lakeland, FL, we have the start of the second set, featuring Feel Like A Stranger, To Lay Me Dow>Let It Grow>Terrapin Station. This is the second show of a short, four show tour of Florida and Georgia. All of the shows were excellent, including the massive tour finale on 11/30/80 in Atlanta.
Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 4/30/81 in Greensboro, NC, the start of the second leg of the Dead's Spring Tour of 1981, with the first leg running from the end of February through mid-March, plus the five nights in Europe to end the month. From Greensboro, we have Shakedown Street, Samson and Delilah, It Must Have Been The Roses, Estimated Prophet>Eyes Of The World. You'll notice Eyes Of The World getting cut, and that's from the master cassette.
Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault. And as always, we encourage you to write to us at the email address below with questions or comments.
