Thanks for the memories.... Nice treat for the week.... Been stuck in the cold rain and snow here... but I am sure that good times are just around the bend.... The snow will end.. spring will come... and we'll see summer come agian... and then let the road trips ramble on.... Take care, cheers Woody www.myspace.com/woodyinthebasement

The estimated > eotw is , again , some of the best music ive heard live from this band . You really picked this music real well in 99 . It reminds me a bit of a DH you reaired a few months sgo , from May 1980 , with a great hes gone i recall . 1980 had a lot of great stuff . Worthy of more vault releases & releasing - hint hint GDP = ) - brents Fender rhoades solo in Est is just so full of life . I think Gans needs to Advise the vault release comitee a bit more , as he has f**n superior taste - I have a request DG . Legendary GDH 201 and 202 . With material from the balls to the wall show in Oxford ME in 1988 - J 2 . We all mostly have that wonderful Neuman U 87 audience recording which delights . But i see it as a solid request . Thank you for reading , and congrats on your excellent re airings fare thee well p.s. The birdsong from 1998 , reminded me of that great tour . I saw everything between atlanta and east troy , and then st louis in late july . That summer brings back great memories as it was Phils 1st ' tour ' since . Every show had something very positive . As the tour unfolded , the shows and songs became more cohesive , and the musicians .. I remember that crowd and band must ve felt tired by the time the band hit July 11 in east troy . I was beat . And the band although played a great show on paper , looked drained . The best shows were The 1st 7 , totally worth owning . from atlanta through Philly . Buffalo was a bit slow . Saratoga was special , although it poured rain copiously . My Sony D 7 died after about 10 min of recording , as the rain and humidity had everything , everywhere soaked completely . It was great to see phil again , on the road . Thanks Phil & band Thanks D Gans / /

It would ve ben great to see the band in 1988 . Seeing a fan shot video of Hampton 3.28 , the band looked so cohesive and vigorous . That show - 3.28 - is so good That Greek run from 88 would make an excellent road trips , with the best from the run I recently visited Machu Picchu and Cusco in perú , in late Nov . I recommend that destination to anyone who wants to see a place that s beyond special . Think that in 1978 the earths magnetic center changed from its original place , to an area between Cusco and Machu Picchu . If you ever make it there , stay a couple of days in MP , instead of making the express day trip . Due to the magnetism there , you feel a peculiar energy in certain places I had w me a copy of gdh 317 , and it sounded great amidst everything there Aditionally , being someone whos studied aeronautics, Cusco is at 11000 ft above sea level , and landing there is an absolute trip in itself . The pìlots are pushed to the limit there , due to the high altitude and extremely difficult conditions of landing , but they re trained to do it every day . And they do it with Airbus 319 s, so that helps

I hope you canmake it there some day . On this ocassion - i also went in late 2006 . There were wild begonias growing on the archaeological park's grass surface . A nearby guide - i remember - filled me in with that [ these were bright orange ] , and that in Perú there are 500 different types of begonias ( those are the things worth seeing on a trip ] happy travels J G

my first concert was Dead in Golden Gate park in about '75. sitting on the shoulders of my mother's friend watching and soaking everthing up. i remember a moment of feedback through the PA that sounded to me exactly like godzilla. i was enthralled. i was in first grade, just moved from indiana to protreo hill into a victorian off vermont street. it was magical coming from the midwest to to this unbelievable, sparkling city brimming with culture...el faro burritos, china town, fairfax, gigantic bridges, mountains, manzanita, exotic-looking plants hanging off every surface and coming through every crack. smiles from every face. i have not seen the dead since brent's last show at alpine valley but never stopped listening in my heart. always my music and mind informed by live shows that played on sweetly in the back of my head. i just lost my hard drive with all my music and being a stay at home father i cannot currently afford to buy shows so discovering the radio hour brought tears to my eyes. thank you, thank you. cheers and blessings from santa fe!
