I agree, it is a lot a money but TOTALLY WORTH IT! Especially for me since I am someone who is too young to have seen them play together. This is my first chance to see them all in their amazing glory. Keeping my fingers crossed that the Hubby will say yes!! He wasn't too happy when I told him the ticket prices so we will see how toinights conversation goes. :P

I was really starting to get bummed out...I just want everyone to be as happy and excited as I am. And Mikedun, I love the optimism!!! I have to think it will all work out in the end. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Good luck everyone and stay positve!!!!

Money may be tight, ticket prices may be high but I'm so happy to see another show!!! Southerntam I'm still excited as the day I found out. I paid $100 to see the Allman brothers and won't do that again but the Dead, any ticket is a good ticket.

Okay southerntam, I shall think positive. Our nosebleed seats probably won't be so bad because we will be able to move pretty far up due to the fact that these venues will be half full. How's that for optimism!? I never thought in a million years that I would be disappointed about a Dead show, but I do feel partly disappointed. Good for anyone that can afford these floor prices, but I certainly cannot. I repeat the earlier sentiments about the $30 DSO shows. I am so, so sad right now.

    Ticket Prices
As for me, I decided I was okay with buying a ticket to a show, one show, regardless of the price. It'll cost me about the same as what all the Grateful Dead tickets cost me when I was going to shows between '76-'84, when you consider what I made an hour then v. now and what the tickets went for then v. now. They may not be the Good Ol' Grateful Dead, but they are the best Dead you'll ever see now. Live music isn't cheap. It never really has been and that's why it's a special night when you can go out and hear your favorite bands play out. Times are tough though and I realize a lot of folks who were hoping to go to a show or two on this tour will have to to think twice about it. I'm only going to one and that's mainly due to the fact that it does cost more money than before and that I need to work extra hard right now to keep up with expenses. But don't blame the band for going for the kind of money that other classic rock and jazz bands have been making for most of the past 10-15 years. It costs a lot to produce an arena tour and any band that takes on this kind of an enterprise will charge as much as it takes to recoup their expenses and to make the kind of money they feel they can reasonably make, given the market If you can go and you want to, make it happen. I was so excited about hitting the Greensboro show, already had the hotel booked and everything (for cheaper than the ticket I might add). Now I don't have enought mone to buy the actual ticket! I am really going to have to sweet talk my husbind on this one. I know it will be worth the money, but coming up with the extra money is the problem. I'm sad that the economy has led everyone to having to put a second mortgage on their homes to see some shows, LOL!! I wish everyone the best of luck getting your tickets!! I'm sending good vibes out to everyone!! ~ Peace

Starting to feel like I'm the only happy one around here today...where's the love? We all started this thread so happy and excited and now it's turned to negativity because of ticket prices. Really....is this how we're going to do it? I, for one, am still excited and if I have to sit further back because I can't afford front row floor seats, then that's how it has to be and I"ll be just as happy - because I'm there. Again, let's think positive!!!!!

I was hoping to hit 2 or 3 shows, despite the strain that such a trip would put on my already overtaxed budget. But $100 a show? Who are they kidding? Now, I'm no fool - I understand the economic realities of putting on a show. It's not the '90s anymore, let alone the '60s. But as others have pointed out, many bands seem to be able to play similar venues at much lower prices. Anyway, I'll be taking a pass this year. Thanks for the memories boys, and do let me know if you're ever interested in playing for the average fan instead of the wealthy elite.

I can see paying $102.00 for good seats on the tour. From what I see I can wind up in nosebleed seats for that price. I looked, the $59.00 seating is behind stage. Most shows I go to have a mid-ground price. I was to try & go to a few show's but now I can only do one. Hey, Bobby & or Phil if you read this. How about a free ticket. Only kidding. Well Maybe.

some sort of "official" announcement about these allegedly available tickets? Not to mention the usurious pricing... Sure would be nice to hear that there really isn't anything shaking on those shakedown sites. Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

who are BETTING that they can get people to jump on the prospect of early sales of 'tickets yet to be announced' when they have no such ticket in hand. It is illegal to scalp outside any venue, but there are no rules/laws against this kind of shell game by people who make a living off of scalping 'online'. A no-no for the little guy to do, but when there is a business that is doing it, then it is OK? I don't get it. The Truth is realized in an instant, the act is practiced step by step.

I'm a little surprised (but pleased, just 40 miles away!) with the Greensboro opener. Ratdog didn't come close to selling out the War Memorial Auditorium in Greensboro last fall, and P+F/ABB didn't sell out Verizon Wireless in Charlotte a few weeks prior. For that matter, Springsteen didn't sell out the Greensboro Coliseum last spring either. I was afraid that the tour wouldn't come close to NC, but here it is in my back yard. Happy New Year!

Relax maybeyouknow :) Seriously just follow the instructions on dead.net and you will get a shot a tickets early before the public on sale (the pre-sale). If you miss out on the pre sale you can try again during public sale. As for the price, there is no way the tickets will be that expensive. Come on people calm down!! I agree it is a little stressful, I want to see them too. "I can tell the queen of diamonds by the way she shines. Come to daddy on an inside straight, well I've got no chance of losing this time"

I am very excited about this tour. I'm a big Warren Haynes fan and think he is going to be great with the guys. In fact Warren turned me onto the GD music. I only went to one show in 04 and this tour I hope to get to at least 6 shows. Can't wait.

For the record...relax :-) In '04 I was getting tickets for less than face value. This is not Phish at Hampton, folks. Here is the fine print from the ticket website with actual seat listings: "Some ticket listings on SITE may only be representations of available tickets and not actual seat locations or currently available tickets. Occasionally tickets ordered may no longer be available at the price or in the quantity originally ordered at the time the order is received. If equivalent or better seat locations are available at the same price, and USER has selected to be automatically upgraded, the FULFILLER or SITE may fill the order with the alternative seat locations for USER. If USER has not selected to be automatically upgraded, a representative from the FULFILLER, or the SITE, may contact USER to discuss alternative seat locations." I don't know if there is a way to have season tickets to every event in an arena but I guess that's the other possibility...but I would never, ever buy from a site like the one that's listed tix for $400+ ...LOL... Just do the mail order or pre-sale and have fun!

I agree! In this day and age there are services out there where you can pick the exact seats you want. It probably costs $400 to reserve such seats. It sounds to me like a lot people here have not purchased tickets to a concert since the last time the Grateful Dead toured back in the 90's! :-) "I can tell the queen of diamonds by the way she shines. Well for me seats don't matter just as long as I'm in the door. Usually can't stop moving anyway and is always cool to go up to the nosebleeds and look down at the sea of madness. Sat front row center once in Hartford, CT right in front of Bobby and yes the man spits and Mickey never smiled once very serious the whole time was really an experience though nothing in front of you but the band. paid $80 for that ticket back in 88 was the most I ever paid but was well worth it. Still had to roam around then gave my stub to a friend to check it out for a few tunes. aaaa such fine memories. hand me my ole guitar, pass the whiskey round.

I would bet money there is a summer tour, maybe in a festival context, but I have a feeling that it will be the south and west only. I’ll take what I can get; there’s really no other place I rather see them (that takes more than 5000 people) than the Spectrum for old times sake, outdoors included. Really hopping it’s festival seating (no chairs on the floor), but I don’t expect it. Even the last few years with Jerry they put out those dammed chairs. Still remember using lighters to burn through the plastic chair connectors so we could fold them up and get some dancing room. The Spectrum one last time! Who would have thonk it!

With you on that one, almost all the outdoor shows I've seen had open area no chairs. but yes some venues put them out. i always loved Gen Adm shows the best. I'm hoping for summer tour as well but am so glad this is going to happen and Gathering of the Vibes is coming up in July just gotta keep the faith.

Festivals and the outdoor sheds in the summer. I'd bet something on it...not the farm. Well, since I don't have a farm, betting it wouldn't be such a stupid move. Maybe a little theatre tour in the fall? THAT's what I want to see...hate arenas.

Don't get wrong, jumping all around the country to see phil or bobby is a ton of fun but thank jerry the boys are back, I had a good feeling after the Penn State Obama show, the show was great, the lot was old school with a good fun & a kind vibe. I got the e-mail at three thirty in the morning on New years and everyone in my house thought I was having a freakin kinniption fit because i was so excited runnig around yelling. Thank Jerry for letting us have Warren again, now if we could just get him to become a permanet member of the dead, In my personal opioin and don't anyone get upset but he is the only guy that has some of the qualities not only musically but personally to fill those gigantic shoes. I miss Jerry just as much as anyone else but I think warren was great on the last tour and it seems like all the boys are on fire and ready to go. I can't wait to wait to get back on the road, I miss my friend and i miss the shows, festivals are just starting to get old as i get older. So pack The bus Boy & Girls cause the Dead are calling your name, HeLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YeaHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

1. There won't be many (or any) more shows than the ones they have announced. Warren is committed to Govt Mule and the Allmans. There will be a Phil/Ratdog tour in the summer. Not a Dead tour. So forget about all that. 2. Don't sweat the tickets for this tour. Above all else DON'T PANIC AND BUY SCALPER TICKETS. The demand for this tour will not be anywhere near the demand for Phish in Hampton, etc. Even though the Dead will probably be 100 times better than Phish. There will be PLENTY of tickets so relax. 3. This may be The Last Time to see them play together, so if you are old school, get out to a show, at least.

Just gotta raise the funds somehow and make the trek to Cali. If there is no summer tour, that means no chance of them hitting Willie Nelson's Picnic here in Texas. But I've done my grieving for Jerry and loved both Obama shows so I am ready to catch them for the first time since the late 80's. It'll be a nice way to see friends and family in Cali. What new adventures are waiting to be had? I just hope the shows don't sell out in Jan. Although this won't be as big as Phish (who I have yet to really take a liking to), I have a feeling people are jonesing for more Dead.
