First it was the Amusment
First it was the Amusment park at Houston, then the race track at Austin downs, and now a Zoo. What a fun three days in super hot heatwave. Fun day though, real fun.
small crowd
must have been the least attended show i ever saw. was blazing hot late summer ok weather indeed. thought the energy was pretty cracklin'. playing in the band is pretty cosmic.
Is it still water?
One of the few shows I actually made it to. My friends and I all have interesting stories and memories! :)
I do remember it being positively electric!
Hot as hell
There was a garden hose in the parking lot with fresh running water that was a god send. The media was amazed at the circus. The pit was full of my friends and we went nuts.
If you were there you might of bought one of our sandwiches, We sold avocado and tomato sandwiches with sprouts on whole wheat for 3 bucks a piece, it paid our way to KC and on to Red Rocks...
We ate at some truck stop between OK and KC... it had a large flashing, two eggs - two sausages - two pieces of bacon - Two bucks... What a long trip we were heading on.
Super Hot -
Traveled w/ Monk,Diane,Jim B.,Diane & a bunch of people from STL.The parking lot scene was pure Shakedown Street. The band continued w/ a really tight show & I remember one of the strangest hotels we ever stayed @...plastic covers on the pillows & decorated right out of the late 60's.
It freaked me out,so I slept on the floor in a sleeping bag...my friends had a great laugh @ my expense.
stuckies
Wow I just remembered after all these years the stuckies everywhere threw the west seems every time I looked up we saw the stuckies yes 2 eggs 2 bacon 2 sausage for 2 bucks. I also remember it was 1 egg toast homefries for 1 dollar. wow that was a long time ago. Days not even having a dollar to eat that's sad. The zoo. Aiko Aiko both times I went there back in 82 and 85. Also remember friends showing up from Colorado with tons of great bud. And then again in the fall at the fox threw the rest of the year. wow that was fun.
Most Awesome Birthday Ever
It was my 14th birthday and the Dead were in town! Most awesome experience I ever had in my life. It was also the very last time that the Dead came to Oklahoma City. So I'm honored to have seen the last show ever in OKC. ......and on my birthday no less!
And I also remember it was hotter than hell that evening and the stage actually faced the sun. The Dead came out and played like it was nothing..... gave us a hell of a performance.
New Zoo Revue
What could be better than summer tour and reckless youth? All that stands out for me at this show is that the band played tight and assured. I was on a cloud! And there were lots of friends there with the same feeling. Best way to visit the zoo. And I know it was super hot, but not like it was in Texas. You could fry an egg on the pavement. Always grateful!
