    We're all dancing in a ring around the Moon ~
    Did anyone happen to see the sky around 12:30 am Est. on Christmas eve/Christmas? After outlasting the kids and much present wrapping, I went outside and was looking at the sky. There was a circle of light around the Moon. A pretty wide circle. It was perfectly round. I'm a star gazer, but I've never noticed anything like that before. Very beautiful & quite trippy PEACE & thank you all for the excellent conversation

    Went to the village church on Christmas Eve, NOT due to religious spirit or anything, but because Imena is in the village children's theater group, who were performing a play for the 5:00 Christmas Eve family service. Tiny little ancient church was packed full of festive villagers, and the little actors were in a high state of excitement. Imena was playing Mary, which I knew in advance, but luckily knew nothing about her costume. When she first appeared-her brother and I got the giggles really badly, as my ten year old was highly and obviously, momentarily pregnant. She had a balloon under her dress. Play was just wonderful, and got to take a non-pregnant child home again afterwards. Wshew! Villagers found Callan and I somewhat warped that we were amused by pregnant Imena, but doesn't matter-was a lovely evening. We got the giggles again (shame on us) after the play, when the director was introducing the cast. "Marike Ehret, Elena Ehret, Celina Ehret, Jana Ehret, Sonja Ehret, Tobias Ehret, and Imena Heimpold" (village has 2,000 inhabitants, and about 60% are called Ehret, 30% called Rhein, and then is everyone else)********************************** Don't part with your illusions. Well, is either today or tomorrow, but think is today. In Germany, all the kids have to put a boot outside their bedroom door, and St. Nick leaves them treats, if they were good. If they were bad, they get switches instead. Just like the Santa/stocking thing in the U.S. at Christmas, cept that in Germany St. Nicholas comes on his saint day, and at Christmas, the Christ child brings the gifts. So I hope St. Nick brings you all sweets and oranges, and not switches! Just some international holiday trivia from the weird assorted facts in my head! ********************************** Don't part with your illusions. St Nicholas day is Dec 6th!! So tonight put out your stockings or boots to be filled and remember... St. Nicholas gifts are meant to be shared, not hoarded for oneself. Never knew about bad kiddies getting switches! Peace,Gigi

O come all ye Grateful,Deadheads to the concert. O come Grateful Deadheads, And camp in the street. Bring rolling papers, Don't forget your sleeping bags. O come get us some floor seats, We've followed them for four weeks, O come get us some floor seats, To see the Lord. O come all ye hippies, Throwbacks to the Sixties. Paint flowers on your van, And don't wash your feet. Wear your bell-bottoms, And your tie-dye t-shirts. O come let us adore them, We've quit our day jobs for them, O come let us adore them, Garcia's the Lord! Hippie Holidaze!! Peace,Gigi

peace through musicA toast.... toast to a Happy and Healthy New Year to all! Tonight on New Years Eve after visiting my son Norman, who has been in the hospital for six weeks, I will be going down the street to ring in the new year at an all ages show with a Grateful Dead cover band. I suggest that at the midnight hour we all think of positive rainbow vibrations for the new year. We toast at 12 o'clock EST, then at 1 o'clock , then 2 o'clock, then 3 o'clock Rock!!! when it's midnight in San Francisco! Peace and Love and awesome musical experiences to everyone in 2009!!!

trick or treat! there is nothing like teaching a little extortion to the little 'uns. *** when applying for one 'straight' job way back when, and I had to list my 'work' history, I put down UNICEF "Fundraiser" the interviewer seemed might impressed, said "Oh, UNICEF, that is nice. Where did you work?" when I explained that I went door to door collecting pennies on Halloween, I was quickly shown the door... ) -;

The word grateful often serves as a reminder to me of all the gifts the world gives to us and to be appreciative and thankful for them. I am always thankful for the sounds of Jerry's sweet sounding guitar tones and melodies and all the members of the band and the miracle of the music.. I am also thankful for all the many friends I have met here over the years and all the viners and the gifts of vining. Peace to everyone. ... Hope you daughters are having a nice holiday. I just walked into a JC Penney and saw J. Garcia men's dress shirts along with J. Garcia ties. Now, I'll admit I used to wear black t-shirts. But, when it came to men's fashion, Jerry was not my role model. I know, I know -- it's a big joke. I get it. As long as Jerry would have approved, I guess. ~ The current fashion sets the pace ~

Started my holiday vacation today. We're sitting here with a foot and a half of snow! Not really used to that here in VA. It's been thirty years since we've had this much snow here in December! Everything's shut down. The really ironic thing is that we have a friend coming in from Wisconsin to spend Christmas "down south". We haven't been able to pick her up at the train station but she is safely in a motel and we'll be able to pick her up tomorrow. Probably not what she expected! Anyway, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and a great Winter Solstice to all! Oh yeah, Happy New Year too. Be sure to enjoy some tapes of vintage NYE shows!
