I assume this search is happening AFTER being pulled over for a traffic infraction? Which is bad enough... but being pulled over just for having a sticker I'd be getting a lawyer. Ryan hasn't been governor for years, in fact he's in jail as I recall. That said, there ARE benighted states where the courts have found that a Dead sticker constitutes probable cause, so don't be a test case.

Here's a bit of reading about getting busted for Led Zeppelin and other bumper stickers in Illinois: SPRINGFIELD, IL - With the state legislature's passage of a bill last week allowing police officers to cite Led Zeppelin bumper stickers as probable cause for a vehicular search, Illinois became the 13th state to recognize classic-rock-related automobile decorations as grounds for waiver of a warrant. "We've known for years that there was a direct correlation between the presence of a Led Zeppelin bumper sticker and the likelihood of that vehicle containing a controlled substance like marijuana," said DeKalb County Sheriff Ronald Bauer. "However, it wasn't until last Thursday that it was within our power to act on this knowledge to make a drug-possession arrest." Illinois' action comes on the heels of the recent Supreme Court decision that the Fourth Amendment guarantee against unreasonable search and seizure does not require police to obtain a warrant if there is sufficient cause to believe the vehicle contains contraband. Following the top court's ruling, a number of states, including Utah, North Carolina and Wisconsin, moved to specifically name Led Zeppelin bumper stickers as a factor in determining whether to conduct searches. The decision, says Bauer, is supported by extensive data. Illinois state records show that in 1998, there were 362 cases in which a traffic-violation-related search of a Led Zeppelin-logo-adorned vehicle was found to contain illegal drugs or such drug paraphernalia as rolling papers, plastic baggies and metal pipes bearing a row of four cryptic symbols. Yet before the passage of HB 1921, ill-defined definitions of probable cause have meant that an officer acting on this knowledge was entering risky legal territory. "This is exactly what policemen have been asking for for years," said Bauer, who said the new law will precipitate a "considerable increase" in the frequency of drug-related arrests of motorists by Illinois police, especially in rural areas. "It used to be that if we spotted a car with that crazy-looking wizard on it, we had to just drive right past unless the longhairs inside were specifically doing something illegal." Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan applauded passage of the bill. "After the Supreme Court decision, it was just a matter of fine-tuning our interpretation of 'probable cause,'" Ryan said. "We've found that Led Zeppelin bumper stickers - or, for that matter, just the sound of "The Immigrant Song" or "Livin' Lovin' Maid" coming from an open window - is exactly the sort of smoking gun local authorities needed to establish a baseline for assessing that probable cause." Ryan continued: "When it comes right down to it, though, prudent officers have always, to a great degree, relied on common sense. If a vehicle, especially a late 1970s American-made sedan with a vinyl top and some rust, also bears a Led Zeppelin sticker, what are the odds the driver is not in frequent possession of drugs or alcohol?" Preliminary data seems to indicate that this logic is sound. In a Monday-afternoon field test, state troopers detained 100 Peoria-area motorists under the new Criminal Code 861.4/Section 8 (Probable Cause/ZOSO). Nearly 60 percent of the vehicles contained alcohol, drugs or drug paraphernalia, and nearly all contained suspected alcohol or drug abusers. Rockford resident Doug Wojcek, charged Tuesday with possession of a quarter-ounce of marijuana, was among those arrested under the new law. "I was minding my own business when some policeman pulls me over and searches my glove compartment," said Wojcek, 36. "It was just like when Robert Plant gets hassled by the cops in that one song 'Misty Mountain Hop.' Hey, what could I do?" "This is bullshit," he added. "What about the kids with those Nine Inch Nails stickers? No one is going after them." Despite such complaints, Illinois Gov. George H. Ryan spoke out in support of the law and advocated widening its scope. "We might have to add provisions for the search of vehicles bearing the Pink Floyd rainbow-and-black-prism, the Blue Oyster Cult symbol, or maybe even the word Ozzy," said Gov. Ryan, noting that many other states had already made these changes. "We cannot allow this law to become discriminatory in practice. It must serve everyone equally." Talk about gettin' busted for smilin' on a cloudy day! Has anyone who did the faxing in mail order had their credit card charged yet? Or received tickets? I did the faxing in for the second Shoreline, on the day they went on sale. I know the fax went through, yet I am a little worried my card has not been charged, or no hold on the money yet. Thanks, Sunny sunnydrop73@gmail.com "The bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began.." http://sunnydrop73.blogspot.com/

They will give you a password to use to get tickets before they go on sale to the general public example .. If the password if Obama ... You would log onto Ticketmaster tommorrow and then insert the password where they ask for it and then purchase the tickets like you normally would..If you don't have a password it won't allow you to purchase tickets in advance

It will be real fun trying to wheel and deal tickets here at work where everyone and their mother can see my screen. I wish I could come in late tomorrow morning and just do everything from home. Oh well...guess it just adds to the excitement right?!?!?! Less than 24 hours to go!!!!

I'm toying with coming late as well...I have the time so it wouldn't be a prob, the only thing is that my home computer tends to lag and freeze up...not all the time but it would be luck to freeze up in the middle of a transaction. But the more I think about it, the more I"d like to just do it and get it done without having to minimize all my screens and worry about getting caught. Good idea Brother!

All bosses should let everyone come in late tomorrow or, use one of your best excuses of why you will be late or absent. I mean come on, this is a priority. Then, make sure you have all your excuses ready for the shows too. May the four winds blow you safely home. GDTS too will accept mail order starting "postmarked" tom. and ending the 20th. No credit card orders this time for this tour, prices are posted there as well, is worth looking at. I'm gonna see what this presale stuff is all about here but will stick with ol faithful mailorder.

I know they're scalpers, but how can they sell tix that aren't even on sale to Deadheads yet? If you go there, you can actually select sections and rows and buy the tix. I tried (just for the heck of it) to see if I could buy tix for the Mountain View show and it let me go all the way to checkout. Weird. I will certainly wait until tomorrow! See you there.

The only downside to mail order is the interminable wait to find out if you got tickets and where they are (and for those in groups >4, the uncertainty about proximity to friends). Beyond that, mail order is reliable, peaceful, appealingly low-tech (to me, anyway), and perhaps more likely to result in good seats, in that fellow deadheads are processing your order rather than an impersonal piece of software that techheads undoubtedly understand WAY better than I do. Frankly, I'm skeptical that there will be an on-line pre-sale, but like many others here, I'm registered and will be prepared to do the 'plastic thang' if it looks reasonable. Otherwise, I'm confident that GDTS will get their share of the pile and have good tickets to dispense. Sure wish Ruby hadn't retired, though...she'd always took good care of us, particularly if we took a little time to decorate the envelopes a bit. In any case, gang, try not to let the prices ruin the moment. I know money's tight for most, but if $100 is too much yet $50 is okay, doncha think you'll find a way to make up the difference...somehow? Eating regularly is overrated, anyway ;-) ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` One man gathers what another man spills...

What you're seeing is the result of a sale strategy that almost all venues subscribe to. Essentially, a ticket agent purchases a block of tickets to ever event, guaranteeing the venue that it will move those seats, no matter what. The ticket agent is therefore able to offer those specific seats to any given event prior to the tickets actually going on sale. "When it comes to humility, I'm the greatest!" - Bullwinkle Moose

Aha! That makes a lot of sense. So, I'm guessing then that the seats you see listed on these scalper sites will not be made available to Dead fans when they go on sale tomorrow. Jeez, these guys run the world, don't they? Hoping I don't 'need a miracle' tomorrow. Aloha.

I joined the Rolling Stones fan so I could get the presale password for there last tour...I got on ASAP and still wound up in the nose bleeds..I asked there ticket rep if there was really anything left for when they went on sale to the public and he laughed and basically said no.We should all be thankful that they didn't make us pay to join the fan club in order to get the presale password.. DarkStar77 - I think you may be correct. I saw a post earlier in this forum that said it would be 9:00 WEST COAST, which if you're in central makes you 11 am, and me on the least coast at NOON. Gotta say here that I almost dropped my guitar when I saw the prices. Was going to take my 20 yr old son to L.I., MSG, IZODS, and the Spectrums (I'm 25 miles south), but I may have to drop off Nassau and MSG.

Are you kidding?ADDITIONAL MONEY?These prices make them just like every other tired old no longer original membered band that overcharges for the tickets to their shows!$99 for a ticket to the Spectrum? When the schedule came out we were going to go to like 5 shows at least(just like in the past) but with these prices that would be $500/person.How can anyone afford to do multiple shows? For the price of 2 shows we could almost buy Bonnaroo or Rothbury tix and see SO many bands(and the Dead may even be there too)We have just decided to skip this money grab and be happy with the Great Memories of tours past. - Weav

Hey guys and girls, This is my first post so I hope its not a dumb question, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any possibility of another Dead tour, maybe even a continuation of this one during the summer. I want to buy tickets but the two days they're in my area (PA) I have my finals so I can't make the shows in good conscience. Any news at all, even some unsubstantiated rumors would make me feel a little better, haha. Thanks.
