Everyone stops the bullshit about this that the other ones and remember what's it about. The Music! Does anyone remember the music? The way it made you feel the first time you heard it? Maybe it was China Cat or Estimated Prophet? All of a sudden, out of nowhere, you need to get up and dance. And then, everybody's dancing. The music is what draws us in together. The music is what brings the band together. Not everyone gets the Dead. We get it. The music will never stop. I'm sure everyone has a song that they have enjoyed over the years with someone dear to them that is no longer with us. Be thankful that you get the chance to be here at this time to enjoy life with new people, new dreams and new hope. Hey that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. The stars were spinning dizzy, But the band kept us so busy We forgot about the time. "Oh if a man tried To take his time on earth And prove before he died What one man's life could be worth I wonder what would happen To this world."

I was on the ticketmaster sight at 10:00 when tickets went on sale. Tickets were sold out immediately for the MSG show. Ticketmaster then directed me to their sister site tickets now. The $100 tickets were now being sold for up to $3500. Ticket master sold all the tickets to themselves and now started charging obscene amounts. The cheapest available were 400 level tickets behind the stage and these were $180. This is BS. THE DEAD NEEDS TO STOP USING TICKET MASTER NOW.....there are other ways to sell tickets.

I just checked and was able to get tickets for Hartford -- nosebleeds, but in the door at least. BUT I don't understand what is going on with Albany, you get directed to a ticket reseller. This whole thing is pretty strange. I'd like to see the number of tickets ACTUALLY sold and/or COMPd for each venue after every available method (including going to the venue) has been available for 24 hours. I think that would be very revealing. For one thing, it would say how popular a draw The Dead still are and it would reveal how fans are being manipulated. I'm not faulting the band at all, I think they are as much victims as we seem to be. So c'mon, put the numbers out there so we can see! The pay was pathetic. It's a shame those boys couldn't be more copascetic.

I hear your pain. Not sure what went down but I am confident it has nothing to do with the band. Perhaps another scam in Corporate America? I bought tickets to a few shows and thought I'd check out another venue sold through Ticketmaster. Tickets had gone on sale 20 minutes earlier. When I tried to purchase I was told the floor was sold out, then tried for anything, and again sold out, but their "partner" Ticket something (probably the Ticket Now you mentioned, but I do not recall) did have tickets priced from $150-$717. They were directly on the Ticketmaster site. I was disenchanted, so I figured 2 shows will be enough. I don't mind paying face value, and their little surcharges, but this was such a turn off that I stopped looking for any other shows. I'm going back to the good old fashioned mail order next time. Glad you got tic's. Have a great show.

Ticket Rant: What is the Deal & Why did it go Down?
You may refer to this as the TICKET RANT!! Part I First off, I am not ever going to criticize the BAND. I've been Deadicated since 1966 and my first show was seen in 1972 (Fab Fox in STL). The Dead gets better, and better, and better every tour, because of where they came from and who they have associated themselves with. And, I mean no disrespect to JERRY because he is my idol and a true hero. A tour would be BETTER with him, and we do not forget. I will not bitch about paying $50.00 or $100.00 or a little more for a great ticket to see the Dead. Why, because they are worth it and it is tremendously expensive to do a tour. We don't mind paying sports heroes and movie stars outrageous money for far inferior talents, to do things that do not compare to the rigors of a tour like the one we are all looking forward to. Music is hard work dedication and love and the trip that these artists, and they truly are artists, will take us on is truly a surreal experience. ( by the way professional athletes are super humans but they are not generaly artist or musicians ) Part II - The Rant I am going from near STL to the Chicago show because it is the only one close enough to be affordable. Posted ticket prices for this show were $95 - $50. Tickets were to be on sale at noon Friday, January 23. I set aside time from work to be available because, my probably and now a learned mistaken understanding was that on line, was the only way to purchase tickets, after the pre-sale and mail- in options went by the by. I preregistered this week with Ticketmaster, I thought, so that I would hopefully get a ticket to see my favorite BAND. My best friend and I hoping to relive the last Chicago show I can remember with the BAND, at the same venue under "The Other Ones" moniker. Well, I go to the website only to find that the ticket sale is 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. REGROUP. So I get up early on a Saturday to prepare for what I am sure is going to be a long day. I want to get tickets like everyone else in a bad way. I have an email that commemorates my prereg with what I thought was Ticketmaster. So I begin the journey get logged in with deadnet find out that I am not preregistered with ticketmaster. I reregister and find that ther are no tickets for sale on Ticketmaster site. What's going on? Did they cancel something, move back the sale stagger the sale, was it sold out in two seconds WTF????????? I go to my email, click this and that, I was preregistered not with Ticketmaster, but with Tickets Now ( a Ticketmaster Co. ) They have tickets but not for $50.00 or $95.00, they are scalping, I assume, the tickets that were confirmed by mail order, presale or who the F...knows. I won't pay much more than face for any event because you can get into Wrigley Field, Busch, Fox, Pageant, anywhere if you know what you are doing. I do NOT need a miracle, I want to pay value for value, NO PROBLEM. But this was sick and I do not blame it on the BAND. It is unmitigated greed from the people who purchased tickets early so they can go for free, Ticketmaster, or the venues themselves. (they are real dead heads) Capitalism is the WHEEL and we are the hamsters, So God Bless the Conspiracy!!!!!!!! I wasted numerous hours of time and even requested an alert from Ticket master as to when the tickets would go on sale still waiting, eight hours later. Well I did try to call Ticketmaster BUSY. Then I called a local (Belleville Il) Ticketmaster to find that they had tickets. They had tickets, but by this time only those going for $50.00. Ones you could buy from Tickets Now for at least twice face ++++++++ 100.00 tickets now going for $300, $400, $900. Why wasn't Ticketmaster selling tickets on line????? Why didn't Ticketmaster let people know that they could just go to a vendor and get tickets rather than putting a message on line that they had no tickets on-sale for the show. I'm knowing and believing the the BAND did not have anything to do with this ripoff> And, I was able to get a good ticket but not without having to go to Consider it Dan to get presale tickets that were not sold out. Doing this did force us to spend xtra money but value considered it was a good deal. Done ranting Feedback and hope someone in authority with the BAND gets with it!!!

And The Dead hold the record for number of shows at the Spectrum. So this run will be really special for me. That old Spectrum has so many memories and it'll be sad to see it go, but no better way to say goodbye than at a Dead show. http://www.rememberthespectrum.com/ Call it local knowledge, gained a long time ago.

"I am sure the guys are invested in the same markets that most people are that just took a big dump." If that's the case then they should realize that we just don't have the money. We hadn't planned to do alot of shows...just the ones in Philly, but with only one income due to my losing my job back in August, $400 is just out of our reach...we've got more important things to spend that kind of money on...like housing, food, utilities....just the basics... They've sold us out...

Don't punish yourself over the prices..... You have about as much control over that as you do over "The Bail Out" If you think it matters weather you go to the shows or not your mistaken. These shows will sell out and they wight have to add shows because of the demand. If you don't go someone else will. And it's only gonna get worse...There is no regulation. There never has been. It's 2009 not 1970..........Bill Graham is long gone.

Wow, This is incredible!!! I live in Scranton Pa. I have 9 shows all within driving distance from home. The closest is Wilkes-Barre at 17 miles the furthest is Buffalo about 5hrs... Tic prices are a bit steep to make all the shows but If I were only back in my twentys minus the wife and kids I would be on the road again. I always said this is the best place to live for concerts. 125mi. from both Philly and NYC. I am Going to Wilkes-Barre and both Spectrum Shows. I will try for a MSG as well hope to see ya there!!!! Music is why I love life so much. Live music only makes it better. In music, I beleive everyone can find PEACE..... Sadly the world isn't ready..

Sure everything costs more these days, but they have sold out to class warfare. Used to be everyone paid the same price and got a fair shot at decent seats. It's bad enuf the scalpers always manage to scoop up the best seats, but now the band is engaged in scalping themselves. VIP seats for a couple hundred dollars a piece?!? Or pay $45.00 more for "better" seats---and they don't even tell you where those seats may be. Then the online presale eliminates the "cheaper" tix altogether for most venues. WTF? My first dead ticket cost $6.50. I don't mind paying more but this is insulting and a ripoff of the fans that got them where they are thru good times and bad. At Penn State, I couldn't give extra tix away. If these shows fail to sell due to this BS it will only lessen the probability of future shows.

The price of tickets to big-name acts has risen steadily and spectacularly. Some top ticket prices at Madison Square Garden in 2007 and 2008 (not including any VIP tickets that may have been offered): Bob Seger, $79.00 Ozzy Osbourne, $79.75 Neil Diamond, $120.00 Rush, $129.50 Van Halen, $149.50 Barry Manilow, $150.00 Roger Waters, $174.50 Celine Dion, $189.50 Jimmy Buffet $201.50 The Police, $254.50 Steve Winwood & Eric Clapton, $254.50 Genesis, $256.50 So $100 is not out of line. I don't completely buy the story about how expensive it is to tour today. It undoubtedly is, but I believe the reason tix are so expensive is because the performers want to have a big pay day.

Yes people are freaking out about the ticket prices, it is shocking but have you been to a football game, Hockey game or a Basketball game recently? That’s is what is out of control!!!! The ticket prices are in line with what other bands are charging in this day and age. The good news is you have a few options that will be cheaper that the $100 seats. Some acts are charging more for tickets just to keep the scalpers away from the good seats. I go to a ton of shows and the ticket prices usually range from $70 – $150 and up to $400 (Sting as an example) http://public.fotki.com/araslich/concerts/

I have my memories of the great 1993 run of shows that I went to and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I did see The Other Ones at MSG and they put on a great show as well as both nights of the Dead at Jones Beach in 2004. But with the state of the economy today and people losing jobs left and right... I can't justify spending 100+ on a concert ticket.

Just a Heads up for those getting tickets today especially with alot of peeps being low on funds.. I have used music today several times and they do charge an extra service charge, also beware of the mailing options for they automatically put you on the most expensive mailing option but you can change that option but you have to click that option, there is no access code or password, all you have to do is registor and then when you go back to the site tomorrow all you have to do is sign in with the password you made. This is not rocket science and very user friendly

Here are the facts: 1. The 60s, the 70s, the 80s, and even the 90s are gone, deal with it. The notion that the Dead were different, but have now sold out is quaint, but ignorant. They have adopted the corporate culture long ago. 2. The guys ( and their suits) are entitled to charge what they think the market will generate. If they overcharged, then the venues will not fill up. If they fill the arenas, then they priced it at the right level. In any event, the market will determine the correct price level, not your whining. 3. If you are suffering from these unfortunate economic times, then you shouldn't be spending ANY money on concert tickets, so the difference between 50 or 100 bucks is not a factor. 4. If you really want to see the boys, you can probably find a way. This is real life folks, you make decisions and sacrifices every day. 5. When you compare the prices with the costs of other entertainment today, they are not really out of line. That being said, I hope everyone who wants to go can somehow get a ticket and be able to enjoy the music. Peace. "Let there be songs to fill the air."

Im not saying the dead dont deserve what the other artist are getting for a show, cause their just as good musicians as any of the other mega bands but it was the mindset the dead always carried knowing they didnt need to charge that nor did they want to. It was more about the music and getting people and themselves off and resisting the corpartions, after all thats how the grateful dead ticket service got started was trying to get away from the corporations putting their hand in the till. I've thought about it alot, im not so mad anymore about the ticket prices as i am that i feel the dead have lost their way and their values.

Don't blame the band....blame the market for the prices. Greed drives this process If people were not willing to pay so much the ones with their hands out (Promoters) would have to settle for what ever they could get. Even in a depression....people still party....still need to be entertained....and most of all need to be sedated.

We will most likely get password right before the tickets go on sale The tickets becoming available 9am West Coast time Tickets will range from 50-100 dollars a ticket not including Ticket service charge My game plan tommorrow is to open 4 windows on the computer prior to the sale I suggest refreshing all these until you have your ticket info 1 open e-mail (Keep refreshing for notification from this site on a password 2 open Ticket site and have it ready for purchase 3 Open this site and keep it on the page with presale and ticket info...Keep refreshing so you don't miss it 4 Open this forum and keep refreshing since if someone gets aditional info or the password chances are they will post it here... Good Luck to everyone here and may we all get in

Its shocks me how unselfish the boys have been for decades, proving over and over again how much they care about the fans. They are actually putting 4 seperate bands on hold to make this tour happen. Imagine the personal sacrifices involved in all the peoples lives revolving around those bands. They are doing this for us. Not the money. If they were about the money it would have happened about 30 years ago. I am pretty disappointed in this knee jerk reaction to a band that has given us so much for so long. Personally I would walk through fire to see them again. I understand wanting to see them so bad and being frustrated about not being able to afford it. Its been a reality of mine most of my life. I have seen about a third of the shows I would have had money never been an issue. That said thank yo to everyone that has helped make this tour possible! I am entirely grateful for even a possiblity to see more shows! 42% of all statistics are made up.

that possibly these painfully outrageous prices are simply presale prices and the nationwide prices will be lower? it makes sense, because otherwise there's no point in a presale. most bands make presales available to people who have bought the album or pay extra money. i have an hour to figure this out.
