Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have some great Grateful Dead music from 1972, 1979 and 1985.

Our first stop this week is on 11/15/72 in Oklahoma City, we have some terrific first set music featuring Bird Song, Jack Straw, Candyman, Big River, Sugaree, El Paso, Box Of Rain, Deal, Cumberland Blues, Around and Around, China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider.

Next up is the start of the second set from 11/10/79 in Ann Arbor, MI, where we have Alabama Getaway > The Promised Land, Ship Of Fools, Samson And Delilah, Terrapin Station > Playing In The Band. By this time, Brent had been in the band for more than six months and was already a vital part of the sound that would define the Dead for the next decade.

Lastly this week is the start of the second set from 11/5/85 in Worcester, MA, featuring Shakedown Street ; Man Smart (Woman Smarter) ; Ship Of Fools > Supplication > Playin' Reprise > Don't Need Love.

The band led the crowd in singing Happy Birthday to Bill Walton. Then during Tom Thumb's, Phil calls out "Garcia" before Jerry's solo. Good times.

Jerry delivers Ship of Fools and Terrapin with a sort of fey enervation. I almost can't stand it. (It seems purposeful - there's ~none of it in his playing for Bob's songs in the set. In Ship of Fools, it conveys a quiet, ominously strong emotion.)

I just love the weekly sets that are provided by this website: it is as close as I currently get to going to a Grateful Dead show with the members of The Band that I grew up with during my early years as a DeadHead (saw them from 4/82 in Philly until 5/95 Vega$). I saw a bunch of the fall Worcester Mass shows from 82-85 since I went to Bryant College in Rhode Island. I always remember them singing Happy Birthday to Bill Walton prior to the second set of one of the shows but couldn’t remember which show that was. Thank you Printknot for assisting me with these beautiful memories that were amongst some of the greatest times in my life. Cheers!
