    While it is not my favorite RT overall (but it's up there), that Dark Star sequence, and the NFA sequence, are among the best the band ever did. For a long time, I had a single disc (from the trading days) that just had those two sequences. That puppy got a Lot of Play.

    11/14/71 set II
    The RT3.2 bonus disc release has a superb Wharf Rat that if you haven't heard, may become your favorite of all time. Agreed R.T 3.2 is an awesome release. With the bonus disc it's that much sweeter.

    Fall 1971
    Fall 1971 just doesn't get the respect it deserves, imho. Especially after Pigpen returned to the fold in December with killer shows in New York, St. Louis and Ann Arbor (not to slight Boston, but I think Pig was still getting his sea legs after recuperating for several months.

Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we'll have music from 1971, 1983 and 1985.

Our first selection is from 11/14/71 in Fort Worth, TX, featuring the start of the show: Shakedown Street ; Man Smart (Woman Smarter) ; Ship Of Fools >Bertha, BIODTL, China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider, El Paso, Sugaree. A bit of this show was released as part of the Road Trips series a few years ago.

Next up is the excellent first set from 10/21/83 in Worcester, MA, featuring The Music Never Stopped ; Loser ; C C Rider ; Cumberland Blues ; Cassidy ; Ramble On Rose ; My Brother Esau ; Big Railroad Blues > The Promised Land.

From two years later also in Worcester on 11/5/85, we have the end of the show featuring Space > Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Black Peter > Around And Around > Good Lovin' Encore Brokedown Palace.

A homecoming dance show in the Coliseum, if I remember reading correctly. A really, really, really good show that should be fully released (even though much was repeated the next night in Austin and was on the aforementioned Road Trips release). Wish the Fort Worth show from Panther Hall was in the vault. I'd love to hear that. And yes, there appear to be some extra tracks listed in the link. I really starts with Bertha and ends at Sugaree.

from Bertha on is correct for the 11/14/71 show... obviously they werent playing shakedown in 1971... they hyperlink plays fine, just the text above is in correct. maybe marye can correct as needed. cheers.

Nice to hear more of the 11/14/71 show. The whole RT 3.2 release really smokes! I'm surprised it didn't get more hype when released. Good stuff!

this is the best of the RT releases to my ears, like someone else said i cant believe it didnt get more acclaim than it did (in fact, its still for sale in the dead store!). if you dont have it, get it. the austin show features a 1st set dark star>el paso>dark star>casey jones (!), the 2nd set has the GOAT NFA>GDTRFB>NFA sandwich, and if you get lucky, the bonus disc is second set ft worth with a crazy truckin>drums>TOO>MAMU>TOO>warf rat this is essentuial listening in my view

Yet another best-ever. You just can't top those '71-'72 Berthas for sheer sonic firepower! 4-26-72 is probably my all-time fav.
