I don't nkow kids, the "boys" are old men now. Nina Simone had the decency to tour up to Seattle shortly before her death and I paid some big bucks to see her. The experience beat the ticket price by far and now she is dead and I have no chance of ever seeing her again. I say, if they're coming near you and you want to see them, be happy they're coming to a place that you can travel to as I, can't get time off work for such an escapade. When you think that $30 bucks was pretty norm for crappy seats in the 90's and you consider what the dollar is/isn't worth now, you can't possibly tell me that seeing them isn't worth $100. They're old and they've lived fast lives, we're lucky they can still pick up their instruments, let alone blow our minds... eff the money, its all a game anyway, but a lasting experience that you could carry with you forever is not a game and it is worth it. SO, that said, if you do go, don't get too blasted so you can hold on to what might be your last GD memory, just like many of you do with your remembrance of Jerry, Brent, Keith AND Vince, do also for Bob, Phil, Bill, Mickey, Jeff and Warren. | Wait until the veil is shredded, then reveal it |

if you mail order on tuesday, wednesday or thursday, i can't believe that you won't get tickets. you just won't know for awhile. some shows might sell out, (msg, philly), maybe on the weekend, maybe worcester because it's a bit smaller, but it will not be like back in the day. tuesday in buffalo, 19k people?? they will be promoting the crap out of it like you've seen on cnn, but those are outlets are one-offs unless it's a real slow news cycle. read some dialogue on philzone or some other forums out there. people are pissed about $100. again, we don't really know how many are $100 vs. $70, so hard to get totally crazy yet. in the end, people will pony up the $. just don't think it'll be as intense. i was looking at 5 shows and will now only be doing 2. if it was phil & phriends for $60, i'm all in!

Can somebody answer me the simple question of what is going to be left over for them to stick in your envelope? I mean after presale online here (hopefully) and then TicketSheister? Those of you comparing this to a Rat Dog tour are nuts. This is all going to sell out in a lickety split. Look at this http://us.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/06/grateful.dead/index.html This is going to be a scramble to get tickets. Get em off the line or be in the parking lot complaining and doing whippets. I've been there. So the big question remains: how will dead.net help US make sure that WE get our tickets! We need details now. thanks, pokey

Anybody know if you buy $60 seats at the Garden, what are we talking about? Is it $100 floor, $60 everywhere else, or what? Where do they draw the line?It would be nice to know, though I figure how bad can it be? At least I don't have to see them in a friggin football stadium. Good luck and keep yer head.

gdtstoo is a valid and reliable method to buy tix. did so for years. hardest part is waiting to hear back. also, those who plan to do a bunch of shows have a ton of paperwork to do at home and the post office. a bit of a pain. was cool back in the day. expect that they will also put some sort of online, pre-sale deal out by tomorrow at the latest. phil used both methods for nokia run. either way, you're laying out your cash 3+ months ahead of shows. great way for someone (boys, promoters, et al) to make money on your money. can't imagine that they'll sell out too many of these shows. filling arenas that hold over 15k people will be tough. ratdog does not routinely sell out small theaters. phil neither with the exception of certain locales and weekend dates, etc. (nokia, warfield). in Fall '07, phil put on tremendous shows in syracuse and glens falls, ny (smaller hockey rinks) and didn't sell half of the places. we'll see if people buy the "cheap" ($70ish) seats versus the "good" ones ($100ish). me, no way i'm paying for high end seats. it's true that other acts (stones, police, etc.) charge large $, but they control the supply and create the demand. plus, they are the classic "one timers" as people don't go to multiple shows. going to be interesting.

any thoughts on the band adding a date or 2 for spring tour? looks like an open shot for you midwest heads..or up in oregon or washington,,other food for thought..It would be cool to bring Donna jean back for the tour..we saw her this summer at a festival out on long Island she was on!! she also sat in with Mickeys band,, made the set for sure.I think her vocals would add/help for this tour.. plus I miss her twirls when they went out there..after reading other folks nightmares with the pre sale.. I feel like I won a lottery prize.. 2 tix for nassau and msg,, nice seats for nassau,, so,so for the garden... still want to try for a road trip..will start collecting empty beer bottles once the snow stops... peace to all,, its good to be here talking up the band,, at this point in my life its good to be anywere...thought? opinions?....

I won't know what seats we've got for a couple of months, but I'm patient. Do you know anything about where folks will be hanging out before/after the shows? I'm not too familiar with Philly (we picked it since we had to hit the road and wanted to see at least two shows for the effort). We've booked some rooms at the Hyatt @ Penn's Landing, but that's only because we saw it listed as part of the VIP packages, so we thought "hmmm, there oughta be at least a few 'heads there" but then again, this venue may not be the epicenter of all things Dead in PA. So if ya know of any good gathering spots for pre- and post-show communing, please reply back. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One man gathers what another man spills...

I would say the parking lot, weather should be nice so this is where I'll be. we usually hang out side an hour or two before and after shows. The lot should be packed to the rim! So yeah you sure did pick a great venue to see the dead. This is last year for the spectrum, its being ripped down to make room for a shopping entertainment centre!

The MAC a FEE something or another) and drummin my little Head off enjoying the vibes, cooking phat fires, and enjoying veggie burritos with a little sage stick on the side. They closed down some kind places in SF just like that one earlier. I know that the United Center in Chicago will not have a good parking lot, that being said, I do know alot of heads around here over the now 9 years I've lived here. Why yes, things HAVE gotten a tad overheated here the last few days. In general, wading in while dozens of people are screaming curses at the band, the world and each other is often counterproductive. I am pleased to see folks sticking up for the community and the good vibe, and welcome all newcomers who come here in the same spirit. In addition to the fairly legalese TOS to which Hal alludes, I heartily encourage you to check out the Very Few Rules that pretty much define the way we live here. Thanks, further, etc. ME

Unless you're hanging with Paris Hilton. $10 an hour? Seriously, you need to take it down a notch or let Paris buy the drinks. I'm not freaked out by the ticket prices though. They're actually a lot less expensive than most concerts with good seats in the $200s. See you at the show, brother. :o) Peace, Bearly

I never got it together to see the tours that consisted of Philadelphia, NYC, and Boston. Most of my shows were in the Midwest and west, so I am making a point of going to the Nassau Coliseum and MSG with my brother. Has anyone seen the huge banner of Garcia outside of MSG? It may be in the foyer, but I don't remember exactly where it is. I was coming out of Penn Station one day, and they had all these banners for the great events at the Garden and one of them was Jerry Garcia representing all of the Grateful Dead shows. I told my brother about it, so now I am on the hook for showing it to him. :)

Just a guess really………..more than likely could be less. Maybe 40-45% is more accurate. Then “The Tax Man” will take about 42% so when all is said and done, they may net 1.5 – 2MM each. That’s not that outrageous, when you think what ball players get.

Nor did he see 500 shows. Anyone who followed the Grateful Dead that extensively would never be such an a-hole especially to other Deadheads. Oh and yes I have seen the Grateful Dead and yes Jerry was the man but he also messed the band up due to his heroin habit towards the end (90's). I love all the different Grateful Dead-related bands - Phil and Friends, Ratdog, Other Ones, The Dead - they all have a different outlook on the same music and I enjoy hearing those differences. Always experimenting - that's the Grateful Dead mantra. Someone quick pass the joint to awest he needs it! Awest may have been a Deadhead, but that doesn't mean he is not a jerk. What I found most interesting was his claiming to be a "Jerry Guy." Does he really think that Jerry would have appreciated someone who went to Dead shows in order to laugh at people? Whether he saw 5, 50 or 500 shows doesn't matter, he simply never "got it." Frankly, rather than getting angry with guys like him, we should feel sorry for them for being so angry. Man, laughing at people at Dead shows. How sad. As far as the First Amendment goes. This site is not run by the government, so any mention of the First Amendment is irrelevant. This site is private and the people who run it have the absolute right to revoke your privilege to post here if you violate their rules. That being said, it is very, very rare that that happens, even though there is alot of criticism on the site. Our moderator is really cool and lets most people speak their mind. As I posted before, I hope the new people to the site are not turned off by the posts in this topic, as it really does not reflect the community that frequent this site. I was just wondering since I am not allowed to start a thread yet if anyone is going to start threads on the different venues.. I am going to Shoreline and would like to possibly make arrangements to meet with other from the forums..I would also like to hear about the venue since I have never been there and don't know what to expect as far as prior to the show..I will be Trucking (flying) from Seattle... I was posting alot prior to ticket sales but haven't had as much time since then and just went through the rest of the threads.. WOW..Lets just all get along ..I was just @ the store and saw a kid in his late teens possibly early 20's in a wheel chair with a permanent disibility..He has it alot worse than the majority of us and you know what...He was smiling...

I think of deadnet as a community. A community is the people it is made up of. The community here is important, insightful, wonderful, magical and above all, a place where good vibes and good friends play off one another. It is important because there are very few places on our little planet where history, hope, peace, love still have a voice. It is important because it is insightful, into the lives and thoughts and actions of a group of people that seek a better world...a peaceful world, a world of lifting your neighbors up, a world of understanding and void of unthoughtful judgement. It is important because it is a place of wonder. A place where the music and the words of a group of people continue to bring new meaning to many of us everyday. Words and music that transend time and space. It is magical because...well just because magic happens here. I have seen it. Ask tigerlily. It is a place where we all can come and bounce thoughts and experiences off one another. And when we do that, I think we all want good vibes to bounce around us. And that is why I believe good vibes are essential, they are infectious and they are much more stable and therefore more inclined to color our lives. So the more good vibes there are in the people here, the more wonderful, loving, enriching, and fulfilling this community becomes for all of us. peace,pk
