Really looking forward to the April 15 show in VA. I used to go to Grateful Dead shows in the old days with my now 30 year old son (he was 8 when we started). My 12 year old from my second marriage has been to 3 Phil and Friends shows, 3 Ratdog shows and has seen DSO twice. Never thought he would have this chance. We've got our tickets and I'll be going with both my sons plus my best friend on my birthday!!! What a birthday!! Hope to see you all there. Peace

thankx phatmoye, I think all of us here do our part to keep this site cool. when I have free time, I tend to have A LOT of free time, and this site has been a place to get into the scene when there is no scene or tour. so long as there is no name calling and other bullshit... I believe in the grateful philosophy. this is my religion. it is rather dis-organized, but it works for me. learnt lessons from the road, learnt lessons from un-likely sources... this site and our fellowship and sharing here is part of all that. sharing the woes, sharing the joys, giving a miracle ticket, giving a ride to a head with his thumb out. ALWAYS finding just one more seat on the bus so that EVERYONE can get to the next show. syphon my gas if you need it, eat my food if you are hungry, drink my water if you are thirsty. borrow my tape and copy it. (just don't mix up the boxes, please) getting a warm hug from an old tour friend, getting a copy of that long lost tape... caring and sharing. being nice to everybody. stopping strangers just to shake their hand. everyone here has a home. everyone here has a place to kick back and relax and get warm. no one sees tears in the rain, but that don't mean there ain't no tears. come in out of the rain. nothing to hide here. writing the above makes my heart swell with pride and joy that I am both a deadhead and here. "this must be heaven" love and peace.

I don't know what song they might open with in Califonia, (Estimated profit perhaps, but very doubtful), but I can almost bet that they would play Hes Gone towards the end of the show. It would be a great ending for a tour. And yet a great reason to start a summer tour. Phatmoye

chasing a little one down the aisle is a pretty good excuse to get closer to the stage, though.( -; I think in the seating areas, most fellow heads are 'respectful' of a kid's space. looking back from when I was a small youth, well, the circle of bikers around me kept the area clear... so; it does, also, have to do with establishing your space for the kids from the very start of the show, and polite reminders if a freak seems to have a potential to flail into your children. did see plenty of little onees over the years, plenty of families were touring back in the day; even during the more recent 2004 tours, and certainly at NYE this year. just seeing the little ones at the show makes me smile so hard, as the torch of our joy is being passed onto the next generation. accidents may happen, however, and wasted folks do not have the best control of their motor skills. (warning label-- do not operate heavy machinary) printed on that 1/8 bag of schrooms... might wanna have a deep talk with the kids about some of the 'scary' looking freaks they may see. depending on your lifestyle, if this is their first exposure to ssome of the real freak shows who are part of our family. I would check with a audiologist about if the noise cancelling technology prevents nerve damage as well as the best option for protecting kids ears concirning certain types of earplugs -- something i don't really know too much about. believe me, it ain't no fun saying 'huh? what was that?' half the time.

It is really good to see and hear so many people talking about bringing their kids to the shows. As a father of two 1 boy 11 and 1 girl 8 and plan to take them to the VA show my wife and I were a little concerned at first. They went with us the last time the dead toured. We did a mini inner state of NC tour, Raleigh then Charlotte. Both of these shows were outside and we had lawn tix. We all had a blast. Before we left for these shows we stayed at the family beach house on Oak Island, NC and hurricane Charlie came through. We sat on the front porch in rocking chairs and in less than thirty minutes it came and went. No, none of us were in any danger. But this excitement plus knowing we were going to these shows especially with the kids and it being their first I'm sure I felt like they do at Christmas. At the Raleigh show beach balls and balloons were bouncing and they had a clown on stilts walking around. My daughter loved it and at night when the glow sticks started flying around my kids really started getting into it. They also liked rolling down the hill on the lawn. The next night in Charlotte we rented them a couple of lawn chairs because we could tell they were worn out from the night before. They were in bed in the chairs by the end of the first set this allowed mommy and daddy some alone time to dance together for the rest of the show. Only close call was fellow head who with a combination of alchohol and a steep incline fell down a little too close to the kids. This is why I'm a little skeptical about an enclosed venue. My wife and I are going to the Greensboro show alone and in style I might add and decided to get upper level seats for the show with the kids in Charlottesville. But after seeing the get weird video and the footage of the little boy danceing in hallway, if things were getting a little to cramped we could do the same. Thanks for the ear cautions I did not think about it until someones post. Been since Charlotte 95 with Jerry since either my wife or I have been to a big indoor venue, and the inevitable ears ringing trying to find the car. Any way I've rambled long enough.Hope to see y'all in the south with your kiddies and ours. Peace and love.

I would like to thank all the people that unshelfishly volenteer there time to make this site happen.. This place helped alot of us in getting to the show..The majority of bands websites make you buy a membership in order to get the perk of a password for presale tickets... for those that think the band sold out they could of easily made us pay for a fan club but they opted not to and noone had to pay for the presale info.. Thanks everyone here for getting this done to the best of there ability

I can't get over all the negativity surrounding this HUGE event. It IS and always HAS been about the music. The remaining boys are hitting the road and I feel truly honored to witness this event. The music is timeless. The atmosphere is beautiful... Also please stop with the "boring Warren" comments. The man is a truly gifted guitar player. When John Scofield toured with PL&F, I though to myself-will this really work? Scofield is an amazing player with quite a bit of history. Talk about improvisation! Then I thought about Phil's playing and realized "how could it not work?". And let me tell you it worked out really fine. Amazing and memorable show. So in respect to Warren...I consider anyone who has to fill those really big shoes will not only be respectful, but also humbled. I'm looking forward to seeing mr. Haynes play alongside the GREAT ONES. I can't wait till April. I know it will be memorable. As the master of ceremonies once said "They're not the best at what they do, they're the only ones that do what they do." AND MAN DO THEY DO IT WELL!!!!!!!

Could anyone ever imagine taking this long to finally start getting excited about having tickets? This has never happened to me before, EVER! I've been in a very foul mood since Tuesday but I'm slowly coming around. Must be all the positive posts I've enjoyed reading, especially the ones about heads taking road trips to see a show. Did you see the one about being in a business meeting while on-line ordering tics? That was a good one. Anyways, we''ve been waiting for this tour for soooooo long and deep down we all really know the boys are worth the $95.

Here's my question: Why is it legal now to scalp tickets? There are dozens of sites (if not hundreds) that are plain as day that have, I would venture to guess, at least a quarter of the tickets for some of these shows. Stub Hub, Admit One, Ticket Liquidator and ABC tickets, to name a few. I been on these sites and I found that for the Philly shows there is an offer for tickets in section 102 in ANY of the first 15 to 20 rows. Ticket price rages from $943 to $1,131. This is front and center- absolutely the most prime seats in the house. The person offering these tickets has to either work for Musictoday or Consider It Dan because they have more then their allotment of 6 tickets. Or they're counterfeit. According to the user agreement on the Musictoday site this is illegal (see below). Do they really have no way of tracking these people down? Come on! They're as plain as day. So, is it illegal or not illegal? Or is it illegal and not enforceable? Not enforceable would seem a likely excuse but please, spare me. Now who's to blame for the proliferation of these site. George Carlin said that its not the fault of the politicians that they're corrupt and evil and destroying this country it you fools who voted them in. (I'm paraphrasing- go here for what he really said ). If people are paying $250 to thousands for tickets to the Dead, then who are the fools. OK, I'll stop ranting because, lord knows I could go on and on. I have more questions then I have answers. Pessimistic? Very!! "Stop this train I'm leaving." Part of Musictoday's user agreement: "Third Party Resellers You agree not to sell, reproduce for sale, alter, or counterfeit the ticket for any reason, and you assume all financial and criminal liability resulting from the same, including the copying of your unique, bar-coded ticket. Any transfer, attempted transfer, resale, counterfeit, or unauthorized copy is grounds for seizure and/or cancellation without refund..."

I guess you can't post links because the one that's supposed to be in my last post didn't show up so just google "George Carlin on voting."

I supposed a hundred bucks is reasonable.... if there is the expectation for greatness, but I am having a hard time anticipating that. For all intents and purposes, other than the initial Other Ones tour after Jer checked out, the shows seem very under-rehearsed, tentative and downright haphazard. The Phil and Friends shows have always seemed far more exploratory and interesting. Ratdog? Next! Mickey? Moments of magic. So call me the wet blanket, but this fan for 37 years will pass on this one. The loveable, friendly Warren Haynes does zip in jacking up any excitement. His approach is too gritty and the melodic sense is not in the same ballpark as many other players, so that sealed the deal for not going. But good luck, I hope the fans and band have some great shows and that I am totally wrong. But the combination of money grubbing and unrealized musical experiences are keeping me away this run.

ahhh, kicking back with my warm bevvie, watching the sun come up, thought I wuold perusethe tour page, and what did I find? -- Tom Kelly always,,, not fadeaway...... regarding tickets..and prices,, I just read that fleetwood mac canceled there gig up in albany,, sales are slow for nassau,, believe they were charging 135 or so a shot,,Im not happy with the dead hitting the century mark for tix,, but it is what it is,, Im sure things will be done top shelf,, sound , lighting..hope for video screens.. some of the venues are selling back stage tix.. at around 50 so at least you can get in,, I some how was lucky enough to secure tix for msg. and nassau through pre sale.. after reading some horror stories, I feel like we hit Lotto... the boys will be out to give us all a good time,, if new years was an indication,, things should be hot...Id like to see Donna jean jump on board for this tour.. she would be a welcome voice,, saw her this summer past with the triksters she was on!! Donna also sat in with Mickeys band they made some sweeet music... anyway its all good.. so cool to be talkin up the band again...peace...

No, by all means all information is welcomed! As I stated I just guessed their cut……now that you say 25% I would say that sounds more like it, being most big business usually net from 10-15% on gross sales after all is said and done. I was just trying to understand what everyone is so upset about…….. when it’s not like each guy is taking home 10’s of millions on the tour. Thanks for the info………..see you at the shows

Even those criticizing, which everybody has the right to do and should do if they see fit, are doing so in a more civilized and rational manner. I am proud of the "regulars' who stood up for the site, and hope that some of the new visitors to the site stay with us. BTW, anyone looking for recordings of shows, check out the Vineyard. JackstrawfromCo. - "Anyone who followed the Grateful Dead that extensively would never be such an a-hole especially to other Deadheads."............. Only imbeciles have to resort to insults. Thanks for proving that point. Who made you the "judge" of other people? Look in the mirror. Only a fool would say Jerry messed up the Dead. It's called an ADDICTION, moron. Do you know what that means? If Jerry was messing up the band so much, why didn't the rest of the leeches dump him. Because anyone with a brain knew w/o Jerry there would be no Dead. I believe that is what happened when he died. Pass the joint? I wouldn't smoke your Schwag. pomo1 - "Awest may have been a Deadhead, but that doesn't mean he is not a jerk."....... One of the management models I've seen used here before for effectively dealing with bullies was the old tried and true Treat Them Like They're Your Teeth: Ignore them and they'll go away. Everybody remember the episode with the person calling themselves JC? The sooner we stop reacting to the haters the sooner their fun is over. I haven't had much to say recently because I was pretty bummed by what happened to me in the presale, and I really didn't have anything constructive to say. So I just shut up instead of being a drag. The screen snap I posted certainly seemed to be a lightning rod for negativity, and in retrospect, I wish it had been more effective in that role. At least then, those who didn't want to deal with the bad vibes could just ignore the whole thread. Happy to suck up the bad karma if it helps everyone else out. I'm still hoping to have a shot at decent seats in the public sale. If it works out, I'll be happy. If not, I guess I won't get to go. But I do hope that everyone who does go has one hell of a time as they should. And I do hope those seats I missed out on end up in the hands of some kind and deserving people. That would at least make my disappointment worth it. Peace, everybody. Conversation is always more interesting than recitation, so speak your mind and not someone else's.

Back in the 80's I got beat up by some drunken bullies in the parking lot of the meadowlands. They broke a beer bottle on me and kicked me around for being a "stinkin hippy"! I felt so sorry for them. I had just seen 3 amazing shows and was on a musical high like I had never imagined possible. Their limited minds would never allow them to understand how amazing things the hatred they felt would not permit them to get. I honestly never even felt anger towards them. Send out love and that is what you will receive. Peace. Never judge a man until you have walked a mile in his sandals. That way when you do judge him, you are a mile away and have his sandals!

I don't get all the negativity. The Core 4 have decided to reunite. Is it for the money? NO. Is it for us? Partially. Is it 'cause they found that magic again and want more of it? That's my guess. $100 a seat and people are griping? Go see the withered Don Henley and the mishmosh of musicians he's calling "The Eagles" these days for less than $200 and your seat will be in the bathroom. The Rolling Stones' cheap seats are $190....and don't forget - they don't have all THEIR original members either. $100 is just fine by me. I can't understand the bitching and complaining. If it's too much, don't go. If you'd rather see the pale imitation, aka DSO, for $30 - enjoy 'em! They're great at what they do - a wonderful imitation of the Grateful Dead. To me, it's "Gratefulmania," but I'm glad they're helping keep the music alive so nicely and with such attention to detail. The world needs them! For these 4 guys to patch up their personal differences and see them palling around in those videos - it's simply wonderful. The vibe is great. I'm just gonna steer clear of the negativity being spewn from people who simply just "don't get it." And when I say that, I say it wholeheartedly. You haters may have "gotten it" long ago, but you lost it somewhere along the line. Personally, I believe this could be the last time. I felt the magic in State College. Their listening skills were honed in and the collective brought it - with force. I'm dropping out for 5 shows. I'm a father of 3, full-time employed and only income in my family. There's no way I'm missing some of this magic. Even if they DO another tour, I'm done. This is it for me and I've made my peace with that. Certainly if they come to my backyard - I'll be there....but my touring days end after this tour. I'll be pickin' my acoustic in the parking lots and I'll be a 22 year old all over again....nothin' left for this 40-year old papa left to do but smile, smile, smile... ~ Pappy http://www.theCAUSEjams.com "Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places, if you look at it right." - Robert Hunter

all the haters stay home. If you choose to attend, please check the tude at the gate. I also flipped out at first over the prices and scalpers scooping up most of the good seats, but I'm over it. Is what it is. I'll be happy to jump into a seat closer than mine left empty by an unsold scapler ticket. Just looking to have a good time and hope you all are too.

I have a feeling that what little seats that are left at Shoreline and MSG will get snatched from brokers and scalpers..I am curious to see the listing prices after the 23rd when the demand is higher..I miss the old days when you camped out for tickets and where rewarded for your patience and time..Met some great people over the years standing in those lines

As if I have anything to say about it.......How about one set singing and the other just tambourine and twirling? Sending out good vibrations to everyone here. See you at the Colliseum!!
