    The 'Saturday Night Sandwich'. HA!
Worth the price of admission all by itself.

Wow!!! I must have been trippin', but I thought this show was one of the top 3 of the 70 Dead shows I have been to. Micky and Billy were slammin' the skins really hard and I thought the whole band was really trying to play with power. Jack Straw, especially.

I remember it well. First time I ever saw the boys outside of Atlanta and Charlotte. What a different vibe in a general admission setting - no one sneaking around trying to get to different seat, everyone happy to be where they were. Unbelievable show - the Saturday Sandwich was a mind-blower. Sat just off the floor, Jerry side. A 17 year-old Georgia boy in overalls on his own in the land where the Dead were born. Will never forget that trip! I remember hearing about some wacko-sounding opener for New Years Eve, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Had never heard of them. But, I sure was about to! Couldn't score a ticket to the New Year's show, but did score a ticket to see the Neville Brothers at the Warfield - WHAT A SHOW THAT WAS! :)
