Welcome back to the Tapers Section. This week we have a batch of Grateful Dead music from Brent's first six years in the band.
Our first selection this week is from the end of the second set of the last show of the October-November leg of the Fall Tour of 1979, on 11/10/79 in Ann Arbor, MI, featuring Space > Not Fade Away > Black Peter > Sugar Magnolia, One More Saturday Night.
From a year later on 11/26/80 in Pembroke Pines, FL we have the start of the second set, featuringCold Rain And Snow ; Samson And Delilah ; China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider > Estimated Prophet >Eyes Of The World. After the five weeks spent in the beautiful Warfield and Radio City Music Hall, the Dead hit Florida and Georgia for a short, four show tour where they really let loose with some terrific, high-energy Dead.
Lastly this week, from five years later on 11/8/85 in Rochester, NY, at the Dead's last-ever show at the War Memorial, we have the entire second set featuring Revolution ; Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World > Drums > Space > The Other One > I Need A Miracle > She Belongs To Me > Sugar Magnolia Encore (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. I distinctly recall getting a cassette of this show a few days after the concert, and was amazed the Dead played the Beatles, Dylan and the Stones in the same set.
Be sure to join us here next week for more tunes from the vault.
