most DEFINITELY worth $25......caught them in seattle (yech) a few years ago in a joint called the firehouse or the engine house or sumpin' like that.the music was awesome but the venue was'nt. they charged us $25 for a one topping medium pizza. it was an ok pie but certainly not worth 25 bones.....so we ...uh......"liberated" the pan. i still have it and baked biscuits on it not 2 days ago.

Pretty sure Neil's not gonna be able to make it, his tour schedule has him in Australia through the end of the month. Joan Baez is the only one of those names I found on the Peace Ball schedule, but assuming I had the $165 for a ticket(and it wasn't already sold out) it would be worth it. Where did you hear about the others? Luckily, Joan's going to be in Louisville on March 10, and a bargain at $50. Loves me some Baez. ********************************************* I have a sigfile! --> www.kindveggieburritos.com *********************************************

I am going to wait for an outdoor show to take my pride and joy to. Reserved seating would not be good. Having a baby sitter is not the point. Having my boy dancing with me is!!! I suppose 1/2 a brain is better than no brain at all.Peace

Theotherone2, yea the days of the trip tents, too. Speaking of the camp, they have a super cool camp in Berkeley. It's not just for kids but adults, too. Perfect for the intrepid explorer in us all. I'm certain I'm preaching to the choir here but the camp has always taught (among other life skills) personal responsibility (but you already knew that, didn't you?) : ) Cassidysdada, when the kid wasn't boogying with us she was usually on my shoulders at that age, in the papoose or asleep. She was more enthralled with the music and dancing than what may or may not have been on the ground. The only thing that distracted her from the music at that age were the balloons that would come floating around. The only thing I would change if I could go back in time would be . . . to see more shows!

Bringing your kids to a concert is like anything in life - you have to be smart about it and prepared. Have we had a bad time at a show because we brought our daughter - yes. Have we had a ball at a show with our daughter - yes. That is how parenting is in any situation. Now do I fear that my daughter will get kidnapped or accidentily eat some acid she found - no. I mean they could run into bad people playing at the park for crying out loud. In my wife's and I experience we have figured out a few things: Pick the concert wisely - Grateful Dead related bands are perfect - the crowd is older and more in tune with families, outdoors (less smoke and intense noise), sit in GA - that way you can move around which kids like and you can get away from Mr. Drunk guy if necessary, bring hearing protection, buy them food, let them bring in a toy or two, and most importantly be prepared for the worse - having to miss parts of the show for potty breaks, maybe going home early if all hell has broken loose. Just our opinion. "Everybody's braggin' and drinking that wine, I can tell the queen of diamonds by the way she shines. Come to daddy on an inside straight, well I've got no chance of losing this time"

I keep seeing people post how this is "the Dead" and they are worth it. I agree, on one condition; JERRY MUST PLAY!!!!!!!!! Without him this is a really good Dead cover band. With the state of the economy, for them to charge these prices is fiscally irresponsible. Jerry NEVER would have allowed this. It is sad, but predictable. So for all of you hoping to see "the Dead", too late. There is a great cover band, Splintered Sunlight, they even have a guy who sounds like Jerry. Check them out, it probably costs about 10 bucks.

I agree they're charging way too much, but to call them a COVER BAND is just silly--BTW--I just heard about that band SPLINTERED SUNLIGHT--someone else spoke highly of them. Do they tour nationally?(esp.Boston area)Do you have a Tour schedule you could post? Are they as good as DSO? peaceout-G

The Dead are on tour.... cough up the little bit of spleef and check it out! THEN come back and give an honest report of the facts. Thank you.

Doesn't matter what they call themselves, they've gathered themselves together for one reason... they love the music, and together they can make some special music that I have not found with any other combination of players. Jerry may not be on stage, but he still inspires these guys (see the recent video). What magic they can make when their inspriation flows through them, an energy beyond the notes they play. The priviledge of sharing those moments when they create that magic is well worth the price of admission. "there're not only the best at what they do... they're the only ones who do what they do!" Bill Graham and as for the price... it's not easy to come up with the funds, but it's relative... it wasn't easy to come up with the 12.50 I paid in '84 for my first show (Actually I think I traded a ride to the show for the ticket and party favors)... anyway... I've paid a lot more for a lot less recently and I know the band has to fork over a ton of cash to move this party all over the country, pay roadies, truckers, promoters, etc. Bottom line... if I didn't think the priveledge of spending my time with this group of musicians and the most amazing community of friends and freaks was worth $100, I'd find something else to do and stop worrying about the way other people choose to live their lives... But that's just me....

Haven't read all the postings, maybe I'm late to the party, if so please forgive me. However I just discovered that the band will offer $53 seats (behind the stage) if all others sell out. I think this great news from my perspective, being I have 3 people I will be taking and at $100 it would have been a true burden. So hope they sell the others and I can pick up the cheap seats. As long as you’re in, that’s all that matters :) I have watched from behind/above many times in the mid e 80's and had a wonderful time. I'll be at the box office on Saturday hoping and waiting. When I first heard the Dead were touring again I was overjoyed!! Then when I heard how much tickets were going for, well. . .I kinda felt like that Youtube girl. I understand that EVERYTHING is expensive nowadays, but I didn't expect the Dead to double their ticket prices. Especially not with the economy being in such a horrible state. But with a little over a week to "get over it" I'm grateful to have friends that ordered extras and are willing to put me on a payment plan :) so I can enjoy the shows without worrying about the ticket price. I'm just hoping that if all goes well and there is a summer tour they rethink the ticket prices. Time will tell. I was pleasantly surprised though, reading through the last couple post, to see Splintered Sunlight mention! They are a fantastic cover band that plays every Thursday in Ardmore, PA @ Brownies 23 East and they also frequent New Hope, PA; Reading, PA; S. Jersey & Baltimore, MD. Check them out if you are in the Philly area!! Their cover ranges from $6 - $10 ~at least I'm enjoyin' the ride~

Everything below was taken from the following link: http://www.rockgamer.com/2009/01/21/more-grateful-dead-heading-to-rock-… Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 3:00 pm Posted in Rock Band, Rock Band DLC, Rumors Earlier this morning, IGN posted an article on a Grateful Dead Pack headed to the Rock Band Music Store. The article has since been pulled, so somebody, somewhere must have goofed. Unfortunately, this is the internet, and you can’t always take back something once it’s been posted. See the full article’s text below that lists all of the songs, as well as the writer’s opinion on whether or not you should consider the buy. Rock Band Refresh: Grateful Dead Pack Full of greatness or just plain grating? by Nate Ahearn January 20, 2009 - Every Tuesday, MTV Games and Harmonix release new downloadable tracks for Rock Band on Xbox Live Marketplace for your rocking pleasure. But before they hit the ‘Net, they hit the IGN offices. Each week we’ll announce the new tracks alongside our impressions of the new content. So check back weekly for the latest on what’s new, what’s hot and what’s worth a download. A pack that will strike a particular chord with San Francisco residents (where IGN is located), Grateful Dead brings their second Rock Band offering. The pack includes six songs spanning a wide breadth of Grateful Dead tunage. Tracks range from Cold Rain and Snow from 1967 all the way up through 1987’s Hell in a Bucket. While I’m personally not a fan of Grateful Dead’s brand of classic rock, there’s no denying their impact on the music industry. For that reason, it’s a good thing that the band has been given its due in its second Rock Band pack. While every instrument doesn’t perform perfectly on the whole pack, there’s at least one in each track that everyone should be able to enjoy. Cold Rain and Snow Price: 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) Difficulty: Band 3 | Guitar 2 | Drum 3 | Vocals 1 | Bass 5 One of those super-rare tracks that provides a challenge for bass players. The rest of the instruments are serviceable, but the main guitar riff gets a little repetitive over time. It’s a fairly tough one, too. Like many of the tracks on this pack, Cold Rain and Snow is best enjoyed on hallucinogens. Verdict: Possible Download Doin’ That Rag Price: 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) Difficulty: Band 4 | Guitar 2 | Drum 3 | Vocals 6 | Bass 4 No doubt, this is the toughest vocal song in the pack. Singers, be warned: the odd timber and pitch of the lyrics are very tough to emulate perfectly. There’s also a very tough and very long guitar solo that ends the song. Thankfully “Doin’ That Rag” does a good job of differentiating itself from the rest of the pack and is one of the best of the six. Verdict: Must Download Don’t Ease Me In Price: 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) Difficulty: Band 3 | Guitar 3 | Drum 3 | Vocals 1 | Bass 4 If you can hammer-on and hammer-off, you should be fine. If you can’t, you’re screwed. Don’t be fooled by the moderate difficulty rating for the guitar, it’s pretty tough. The vocals, while not as challenging, are still fun thanks to the upbeat nature of the song. Verdict: Must Download Fire on the Mountain Price: 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) Difficulty: Band 3 | Guitar 2 | Drum 4 | Vocals 0 | Bass 0 The drum portion, while the most difficult instrument in the song, is pretty unimaginative and repetitive, sadly. The same goes for the vocals and bass. The guitar part does a good job of working its way around the pad, but overall, “Fire on the Mountain” is unimpressive. Verdict: Don’t Download Hell in a Bucket Price: 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) Difficulty: Band 4 | Guitar 3 | Drum 4 | Vocals 6 | Bass 3 My personal favorite of the songs on this pack. Every instrument is fast and fun with the vocals providing the biggest challenge. Playing both the guitar and drums is a physical challenge with reaches and quick movements required for both. If there’s one to get, in my opinion this is it. Verdict: Must Download Uncle John’s Band Price: 160 Microsoft Points ($1.99) Difficulty: Band 2 | Guitar 2 | Drum 3 | Vocals 0 | Bass 1 “Uncle John’s Band,” like the name might indicate to some, is a pretty ho-hum song. It’s about as close to singing “Kum Ba Yah” as Grateful Dead gets. The guitar has some difficult portions, but there’s much to it. If you can sing soothingly then you should be able to nail the peaceful vocals. Verdict: Possible Download

i think they ought to have a big Jerry/Buddha on the stage and after each song if the decibel meter doesn't redline from the cheers it should blow out a puff of smoke and say "hey!, what the fuck is this!" I love Bobby, Phil, Billy, and Mickey. I hope they make a billion dollars and then put on a big free concert this summer, preferably in the mountains in the middle of God's country here in Oregon! I'm glad they have another chance to play together and may our hope inspire them.

Hey all,Got a question for any one that cares to listen.... HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN A DEAD SHOW? I was wondering, ive tried to explain a grateful dead show to family, friends and co-worker, but all I can come up with is saying that its the kindest people you'll ever meet in the world. I try to talk alot about the music, but todays generation is more into the heavy metal or rap scene. So I guess what i'm asking is how do you explain to somebody thats never heard the music or been to a show what its like? Any feedback on this would be great! Peace Phatmoye
