Last time I checked, Ebay was a large company in many businesses...primarily online auction and marketplace and paypal. Does stubhub have relationships with sports leagues and concert promotors - absolutely. But they are not owned by them. Not sure how stubhub is a "scam"...who exactly are they scamming?

Stubhub is not a scalper...it's a ticket marketplace where people can set any value above or below face. I've bought countless tickets from Stubhub,ALL for significantly LESS than face value...which is hardly the definition of a scalper, unless they are really bad at it! Also, Stubhub really backs up their sales so if you have any problem, you will get compensated very well. Right now, you can get into the 6/28 show for $25, all fees including shipping included! And 6/27 is $45 minimum. A lot better than the $68 I paid direct, and better seats too! My guess is A LOT of people entered the lottery thinking they could make $$$ and now are facing substantial losses (at least on a percentage basis), and dumping while they can.

Well, I have to say that this was one of my worst ticket buying experiences ever! Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic that the Dead are touring and hope they keep doing so! I'm just highly disappointed with the way this ticket sale worked and especially with the results! First, some background. I've worked for a ticket agency before. I have also run overnight ticket lines many times managing over 250 people in line at times. I have been to 366 concerts including 201 Dead and 36 Jerry (I'm deadicated as you can tell by my email address, I own skullandroses.com). I worked at Winterland Productions, was on BGP's will call list, have done mail order over 100 times, etc. I was acquaintances with many in the Dead family including Wavy, Gans and Kesey to mention a few and have met everyone in the band except Mickey and Phil (my hero). I have used computers since the early '80's and am a graphic artist and web designer. My computer is very recent and fast, my connection is via satellite. So, I'm not trying to boast, I'm simply pointing out that I'm not a novice at ANY of this. Now, I don't usually get upset when I don't get great seats... it happens (not often, but it happens). But this time it's special. I went through the 1989 SF Earthquake, then my store/business (Telegraph Ave in Berkeley) was ruined in the August 1991 Berkeley Riot and two months later I almost died and did lose everything I owned in the East Bay Hills Firestorm. I have had severe Post Traumatic Stress and have never been back there since. Well, these days, I'm a single dad of a 9 year old girl (an aspiring musician who has seen the dead, string cheese, mickey, grisman, dark star orchestra and Franti twice (she even got to dance and sing with him on stage once!)! We have never, ever had a real vacation. We've never been able to afford it. So, for this special event, we planned on a road trip where I could show her where my stores were, where I lived, the Greek Theater, where I lived when the fire happened, (maybe, if we're lucky, hit G.A.in San Jose (shhh)), etc. that she's heard so many stories about, including my vending inside Shoreline and how special that place is to me. So, even though it would really hurt financially, I was going to get the reserved seats to make it special for both of us and because I have a bad back and can't do that lawn. That's why I had EVERYTHING ready to go at exactly the moment that they went on sale. I tried to get 2 reserved seats for Shoreline, specifically, up front, as I usually do (even at MSG I never sat beyond the 3rd row). I was logged in prior to 9am pacific time and I point out that my computer is set to-the-second with the Official U.S. time. At precisely 9:00:02 I clicked on the link for tickets. Nothing. I tried again... nothing. That's when the nightmare began... Nothing on the ticketing site would work! I texted my friend and he was having trouble getting the pages to load as well. It took me literally over half an hour just to get to the first page that asks you how many tickets you want! AARRGGHH! After ordering 2 reserved and also 2 lawn tickets as a back-up, I had to battle with the security code that never wanted to appear on the page. When it finally decided to show itself several minutes later, the page told me that there were not enough reserved seats available. I only wanted TWO! Are you kidding me? Server problems and all, yet it's sold out in that short amount of time? Is Obama coming? So, with regret, we had to settle for lawn seats. Sigh.... It took almost an hour after I first clicked the link at 9 o'clock to complete what should have taken 5 minutes at the most. Needless to say, it has put a major damper on our trip as this show is going to be the climax of only our second trip ever that's over 1-1/2 hours away from our home (the first one being the Dead show at the Gorge in '04). The trip is going to be difficult enough for me financially and emotionally and now, even though I'll be happy to just be there and among my 'family', I have to look forward to a night of inferior sound, won't be able to see shit and a painful back. We really, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wish that the site worked properly this morning.... it ruined what could have been a perfect ending to a bittersweet trip.... At least we're in the gates...... sigh.... But, I am still going to look for tix up front. Please let me know if you can help. I can trade the lawn tix and cash, barter, whatever! It would mean a LOT to us! OneGratefulDad skullandroses.com netbrandsinc.com Inspiration...Move me brightly....Light the song with sense and color, Hold away despair...

I went through the nightmare of the pre-sale tickets also. I finally won after an hour and three computers later! Only problem is I got an extra set just to be safe. So now I have an extra set of floor seats for sale. I'm only asking face value plus the service costs and shipping. It's section C row 42. PM me if you are interested.

With Papa in Grad school and me now a stay at home mom (both teachers), we're just looking for the cheaper seats [or a kind miracle ;^) ] to enjoy the show. I could chime in with the rest about costs but in reality, everyone is in a tuff place right now. If you have Albany extras, please shoot me a msg. Thanks. Peace, Love & Light-Kim

Grateful Dead Ticket Sales will be honoring mail order requests. You still might be lucky with postmark 1/14, if you neglected to do one today. On 1/23 Ticketmaster will be offering tickets too. When I started going to Grateful Dead shows in 1972 it was not uncommon to show up at the last minute and still end up leaning on the stage in front of Bobby, Jerry or Phil. Back then, Donna was very mezmerizing and impressive with her stage presence. I encourage all of you to keep trying to acquire tickets, so you can witness the music playing the band.

Pre-Sale Ticket Sales--I Agree with OneGreatfulDad (A couple of posts back)...I was on the Dead.net site 2 hours before Pre-Sale started and it was only because I did that I could even get to the buying area (After waiting in the "Waiting Area" for two hours!)... Notice--The email I got was not very informative...It did not say anything about mail-order and kind of implied that we have to go through the website to order tix. The Dead.net website wasn't very informative. I felt like a Wharf-rat in a maze with a bunch of Dead ends. (after being 'ready' for 2 hours)...And there was no notice of mail-order at all! Access--The Dead.net server was all clogged up and the ticket server was also clogged up so finally after hours I got the seats they gave me-nosebleed seats on the Phil side behind the stage!!(On the Pepsi Center map it shows them as out of bounds!!) The Waiting Area-- has instructions specifying not to reload this page or you will lose your place in line...Then it goes on to reload the page every minute or so automatically (WTF!) Eventually kicking me off the server completely (thereby theoretically losing my place "in line")...??? Choosing seats--In another browser tab I continued to search for seats and finally got through to the buying website. (2 hours after sales opened!) When I finally got to order tickets, I clicked on the venue link to see where they were on the map-big mistake! (Meanwhile I was still 'waiting in line' in the 'waiting area' in another tab) The Map-Pepsi Center has separate seating charts for each show (But none posted for The Dead) So I checked the Seating for the Metallica show (which was in the round) ...By the time I go to the Pepsi Center/Denver website and find the seating chart I get back to the ordering page and my seats were gone (or it got rid of me because I was too slow) (This was the first set of seats, this happened 3 times before I got seats) Not to mention that the seats I first got (section c) were not even listed on the map! (there were Sections CCC and CC but I didn't find C!) Choice-It was you get these seats and you don't get any other choice (you get the seats we give you-one shot!)-no choice/for a hundred bucks!?!...before the sale, The faq on dead.net specifically says that you can order more tickets if you go through the process again (Which I tried to no avail)... Ticket Allotment--and you are supposedly allotted 6 tickets per order (that was not the case, after getting one set of tickets you cannot go back and get more)... So in the end, I found the GDTSTOO website and sent for mail-order tix...and I'm praying for a 'miracle seat'to replace my Phil Zone Nosebleeds!! I can only imagine how others did at this... Gorkinoff (Deadhead Forever!) P.S. Then there is the 1000 miles I have to drive from South Dakota to Denver! (Can't wait to see all you guys there!!!) Goin' down the road feelin' bad...Don' wanna be treated this a-way...Woohoo!

The catch is, you need to be a Northwest Airlines WorldPerks member. You can spend miles for gift cards/certificates to the following... TicketsNow (a TicketBastard Co.) - 17,000 miles per $100 Marriott Hotels (and their holdings) - 45,000 miles for $250, 89,000 for $500 4 different levels of Hyatt hotel offers - miles vary Shell Gas - 9,000 miles per $50 There's also Starbucks coffee and several restaurants offered as well. So, theoretically, if you have enough miles built up (I only have 42k) you could literally pay for the entire thing, tix, hotel, gas & food! I know that this info will only help a few people, but if I help even one person have a great time, then it's worth it. tourdog12 I too tried to get presale tickets for the sat show but got shut out in the badly explained presale.I registered the night before and went to login about 11:35am to make sure everything was alright to my surprise i was stuck in the que and sat there for 2 hours only to find there were no tickets. if presale starts at 12 it should be at 12 who new there would be a que and how early you would be allowed to wait also what was with the p1,p2 ticket types a good friend was able to get one ticket in the worst seats in the building for the top 96 dollar price if ever there was a 65 dollar ticket it would be this seat. The other problem was mail order we joked about doing it the old fashioned way and only found out about the mail order by accident and too late to risk sending money off. Anyways enough whining I could really use 2 tickets in the building 4 would be better but greedy. I have been to every show the dead have ever played in worchester and would hate to get shut out this time around tourdog12@aol.com

I think it is interesting. Now that presale is over, if you go to ticketmaster, they give you all the info but of course tickets for the general public are not for sale yet. They list all the shows EXCEPT shoreline. Does that mean that they made all the tics for the SF show avaliable I wonder. I actually have two lawn I need to sell but I just thought it was odd. Peace

If anyone has a couple of extras, please let me know. Kind of desperate here. I haven't seen any dead related shows since '95. The loss of Jerry was just too painful. But I'm ready now - just need tickets! My email is peter07043@gmail.com Beams to everyone. Have a great tour.

I got shut out on pre-sale and don't understand how ticketmaster can scalp their own tickets at 10x the price when they just went on sale today. Can someone explain that please? The dead.net site lists them at $55 and $90, but the ticketmaster site is WAY more than that. It isn't sold out, so what the heck is going on? How do those people get all the tickets ahead of time?Would love to go but boy I can't afford those inflated prices, and even if I could, I wouldn't cave in. I would encourage others to do likewise, and let those scalpers choke on them. Sorry but I'm a bit frustrated by all this.
