some guy put an upright piano in the back of a pick-up and brought it along. Murphy's Law dictates that he HAD to be parked next to my bus. Naturally, he played all night long. Most memorable was a song of his own creation: Cos-mic Chaaarlies and Shi-nin' Haaarleys They wore tie dyes and leathers All dancin' tooogether... It was horrible.

Cal Expo - No BBQ's in parking lot
I think it was the 8/12/91 show at Cal Expo. It was hot and dry and the signs said no BBQ's in the parking lot. My buddy and I ignored that and fired up the hibachi. Sometime after we ate we knocked over the hibachi and started the tall dead grass in the lot on fire. Flames were going to spread under the cars! It was hilarious only after we put it out with every fluid we had in and on us!

    What a fun place!
I only caught a handfull of shows here but what a fun place to be for a show. I caught the last shows where they allowed camping in the lots. A good idea with the camping wristbands. Not sure how well that worked as I wasnt camping. The venue was so cool. I have been to every corner but the best spot for me was in the back row of the bleachers. No matter what the weather held, there was a great energy there inside and outside the place.

This also led to my first tour, shoreline, and vegas, I had to run away from home to get to these shows, and ditch school. What a GREAT time that was!

My first show ever. Total dead virgin, 17 years old. Graduated from Marin Academy June 5 and we drove up to Sac, me, Chet, Janos, Cybele, Ginger, Jan. Have a picture of me and my sis in bathing suits and short shorts three rows from the stage. Bobby making the eyes. We all went swimming in the water slide park next door. Camped and jammed on guitars. Best time ever, I'll never forget how free I felt, out of school and grooving to the tunes. Was the start of a beautiful relationship.

Well, after the first day, how was day 2 gonna be? First thing...it was a totally windy day! Could be a rather challenging day. But they came on, and being how the bugs were worked out the day before, every thing they did was perfect! Just like Europe '72! I was amazed! One strange thing, don't remember if it was this day or the day before, Brent sang some sort of song, and it just seemed something was wrong, with his spirit. And I wasn't the only person who perceived this, other's in the audience noticed it as well. Who would've thought that 6 years later, he was gone! So, anyway, when the day's proceedings had come to a conclusion, and when the music was over, I remember I think it was Phil, he did something to his bass, made it sound like a U.F.O. and then it all disappeared. Again WOW!
