    Rejected!
Well I am really disappointed that after sending everything in and getting a postmark at 8:00 AM EST on January 20 I received my rejection notice yesterday. What a shame. Not a well planned out event. Reminds me of the days in the late 80's when after using mail order for well over a decade and getting tix 100% of the time the rejections started to show up. Just a bummer that after following this band for 40 years, seeing 150+ shows with Jerry and god knows how many post-jerry I will not be able to attend.

Rolling Stone Article from 2/13 (Good Read) "Inside the GD 50"
Rolling Stone 02/13/2015 - Inside the Grateful Dead's Final Ride Inside the Grateful Dead's Final Ride On January 5th, just after his band Phish ended a four-night run of shows in Miami, singer-guitarist Trey Anastasio received an e-mail from Phil Lesh, the former bassist of the Grateful Dead. Lesh asked Anastasio to join him and the other surviving members of his band — guitarist Bob Weir and drummers Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart — onstage for reunion concerts this summer marking the Dead's 50th birthday and the 20th anniversary of the passing of founding guitarist Jerry Garcia. Anastasio recalls his immediate reaction: "It was a thrill and an honor." Still, he adds, "I thought about it for a minute, tried to think about the implications." Then he said yes. Jerry Garcia performing at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in June 1990. "Phil said all four of them thought it was the right thing," Anastasio says of the shows, to be held at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 3rd, 4th and 5th. Garcia last performed with the Dead at that 61,500-seat stadium, on July 9th, 1995; he died a month later, on August 9th at 53, of a heart attack. Anastasio notes that Lesh, in his message, "talked about the healthy relationships between the band members," that the reunion "was going to be a real positive experience. And Phil said, 'This is the last time I'm doing this.' He seemed pretty definitive about that." The Dead's July run — dubbed "Fare Thee Well" and featuring keyboard players Bruce Hornsby, who played with the Dead in the Nineties, and longtime Weir and Lesh sideman Jeff Chimenti — is on track to become the biggest single-act concert event of the year, and possibly the largest ever. Two weeks after the shows were announced, ticket requests via presale mail order totaled more than 400,000, well past capacity. Peter Shapiro, the New York-based promoter and entrepreneur who conceived the shows, says he and co-producers Madison House Presents are "looking at going 360" — opening up the seating behind the stage — and "going general admission" on the field "to accommodate more people and have more of a vibe." Shapiro estimates the cost of producing "Fare Thee Well" – and potential revenue — in "the multiple millions of dollars. But with this response, we can put on a show that takes the spirit of the Grateful Dead, what they were doing production-wise, and push it to the highest level." He promises vintage touches such as a tapers' section, specially printed commemorative tickets and "a safe, energetic lot scene." The demand for tickets ensures that "not everyone is going to get in," Shapiro warns. So he is working on simulcasting the shows around the country; Shapiro is already holding the dates at his venues, including the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, and the Brooklyn Bowl. The road to "Fare Thee Well" began in early 2014, when Shapiro made his first proposal to Weir, Lesh, Hart and Kreutzmann, based on returning to the site of their last concert with Garcia. The four received other offers from Live Nation and the producers of the Coachella and Bonnaroo festivals for 50th-birthday performances. (The Dead played their first show, as the Warlocks, in May 1965.) But Shapiro, 42, had special qualifications. He "grew up on Dead tours," as he puts it; ran Wetlands, the New York jam-scene club, from 1996 to 2001; and since then has promoted many shows with the ex-members, particularly Lesh. "I believe in it," says Shapiro. "I'm a fan. I want to see it." Grateful Dead Anastasio's history with the Grateful Dead goes back to his first show, at the Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut in 1980. The guitarist regularly attended Dead gigs through 1984, when he began to focus on the launch of Phish. In 1999, he performed with Lesh in San Francisco at the bassist's first concerts after his 1998 liver transplant. Anastasio has also played with Weir and Kreutzmann. "The flow of the whole thing," Anastasio claims, "is in my DNA." Yet, he admits, "I never sat down and studied what Jerry played until the last two weeks. "It's really been unbelievable," he says, taking a break on a recent morning from his now-daily regimen of practicing Dead songs and analyzing the melodic purpose in Garcia's soloing and the musical genealogy inside his most iconic licks. "A couple of days ago, I started listening to 'The Wheel' [a Dead-show standard from Garcia's 1972 solo album, Garcia]. There's a line he plays after the first verse — it slides all the way from the bottom of the neck to the top. I learned it exactly, note for note. Then what I do, since I don't want to go out there and just copy Jerry — I play it in all 12 keys, so that I get it into my body. "The thing is, there is a lot more intent in those lines than people might think," adds Anastasio. "It was not just noodling. Based on the number of ideas Jerry had in any one-minute period, he was very much a musician first, a guitar player second. The music was coming out, and the guitar was a vehicle, a transparent filter." Garcia has also been, for Anastasio, a historical guide. Working through Garcia's "country-vernacular" playing in a Seventies version of "I Know You Rider" led Anastasio to a new passion. "All of a sudden," he says, "I found myself listening to Buck Owens, this Bakersfield-country sound," and particularly Owens' legendary lead guitarist, Don Rich. "That's what I've been doing, listening to Don Rich to get to Jerry." Anastasio and Weir have traded lists of Dead songs — 60 apiece — that each would like to play. They will meet "in a couple of weeks," Anastasio says, to "play a few things together and connect." The full band will "rehearse in June a little bit." Anastasio expects the singing to be largely shared by Weir, Hornsby, himself and the audience. "People have such lifelong relationships to these songs," Anastasio says. Then, a week after the Chicago shows, Anastasio will be back on the road with Phish. Asked if he is putting a lot of work and heart into an experience that will last only three days, Anastasio replies firmly, "No. To me, it's a labor of love. I'm learning so much. I kind of went away from this [in 1984]. Now I'm coming back to it, a little bit older, and rediscovering some great little gems. "I'm providing a service," Anastasio says of his role in what is likely to be the final live Grateful Dead reunion. "The cool thing is...it got me back inside the guitar. I thank them. And I thank Jerry."

USPS Money Orders cannot be tracked, basically
I talked to post office lady. She said the system for money order tracking does not work well at USPS. First: you have to pay a fee to have access to tracking. Second: even if you do pay the fee, she said it takes like 2 weeks to even get any results. So that is why there have been no USPS money order cashed information out there. Just have to hope for empty mail boxes. Good luck every one.

re:daysoffIride...100% agree. I sent GDTSTOO and email to the same effect. I know they're not responding to email. But all we need is a simple post: we're done, no more tix OR you still have a chance if you have not received pink slip. there it took 10 seconds to type that.

Long time user, firs time poster. Wow. TT is an epic douche and complete idiot to boot. I mean, I've seen some ass clown posts here in the past, but these take the cake. It doesn't help that he/she has no understanding of how concerts are promoted, that venues have contracts with ticket outlets, and how much leverage bands actually have in these negotiations. Not to mention creating tin foil hat theories. If TT had any kind of life, we wouldn't have to scroll past so many pathetic cries for attention. To those that received tickets, congratulations. It should be a wonderful celebration. Ultimately, the place will be overwhelmingly filled with heads come showtime. For those who did not get tickets, my condolences. Hopefully, we may still receive confirmation emails starting monday. However, you're not losing out to scalpers. You're losing put to high demand. Of the 210,000 seats available for 3 nights, there are only 5997 tickets on stubhub.com. That includes the 3 day tickets being multiplied by 3. That is 2.86% of all tickets. Most brokerage agencies overlap the same tickets. Approximately 5% of all available tickets are being scalped. You could blame the band for not having more dates or not putting on a show in a huge field. However, they're pretty damn old. A tour would likely be low quality, and a modern attempt at High Gate would be worse then the last gate crashing, overdose event. Why go out in a cloud of dust? It is what it is, and I'm just happy there are 4 guys remaining to celebrate this historic band even if it's a webcast with friends and family. Let it go, and listen to the music play. :)

I was just thinking about that. I haven't heard of anyone getting anything other than obstructed view from Ticketmonger yesterday. If you look at Stubnub or others, almost all of theirs are obstructed views also. Are tickets being held back for later release?

I am going to think long and hard about my decision regarding the ultimate recipient(s) of my additional pass. Your suggestions will definitely be included in my decision-making process. I want to handle this in a way that is true to the original spirit of the band, the deadicated fans (new and old), and lastly, myself. Also of utmost importance to me is to do this in a way that acknowledges and pays respect to those of us that will not be fortunate enough to attend this historic occasion. This includes (past and present) friends, family, band and crew members, and those long-time hardcore fans that got shut out of the process. Much love and respect to you all. I promise to do my best to humbly and appropriately represent you all via my presence in Chicago this Summer. Fare thee well, my friends! :^)

I upgraded to 100 mbps. While I scored two (wife did) and got close to others (wait time 3 Minutes) could not score another date. One thing I would do differently is select a specific ticket, instead of best available. The time it took to think and search for my ticket with best available I feel is longer than say one specific price point.

+1 on comments. I for one am hoping they are holding back tix, but doubt it, either that or some kind stranger offers to sell me a ticket that they have left over instead of the scalpers... -1 on name calling; that doesn't solve anything. Seriously dude.

Maybe the band got snookered by the promoter. Can't see Bill, Bob, Mickey, and Phil selling seats with "no view". An idea for the band: Loose whatever backdrops were going to be on stage and open up the view (we are okay with the 3 giant drums - it's iconic). Thanks.

My wife yesterday called tech support with TicketMaster. Very surprised a talking human was on the other line. Make a long story short, she (tech support) vaguely hinted in a round about way that the promoter will release more tickets. Wishful thinking maybe on my part, but I do know the closer to the concerts venues release tickets at various price points. Not thousands, but a few hundred. This is what MSG does in NYC.

Hey all! I'm not usually the type of person to start a cause, I'm the one in the background hoping someone else will do it, but there's so much negativity and I was hoping we could turn it into a positive. I started a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GratefulDeadFansUnite. Please like it and pass it on. I really believe that if we avoid these ticket scalpers that we can make a change. Let's stop placing blame and do something about it. I have hope and I feel like if we stick together we can get into those shows. Believe me I was angry too and I almost fell victim to Stubhub because I wanted those shows, needed those shows so badly, but I resisted temptation. I think we can win this. Remember how much we love this band! They could have never anticipated this would happen. Keep the faith!

Tickets on secondary market sites really suggests that the “good” seats did sell on Ticketmaster Saturday. But why are we not reading more posts like Moosebutt’s tickets in section 119? I got into TM at 10:04 CST and you could only select side of stage or behind stage.

I'm a grown man and want to cry...three people at three separate locations on three separate computers trying to buy at 10:00:01 and nothing. Ok I have to go away for a bit now...this is not good (for me).

Just heard on Sirius XM GD station today. GD negotiated a contract with TM to sell a undisclosed amount of tickets. GD renegotiated with TM and got back a bulk of premium seats for GDTS too. Explains why only crappy seats were sold on TM yesterday. Explains alot of things. And leaves alot of hope for Mail Order limbo and everyone else. Take a listen!!

As someone else stated... Gans reported not only did a majority of the good seats go to GDTSTOO, GDTSTOO also received the majority of tickets in general. Originally, it was a three-way split with GDTS, the presale, and the regular on-sale with ticketmaster. Once the demand from mail order was realized, they renegotiated with TM for the presale tickets to go to GDTS. Gans said, "GDTS has the majority of best seats in the house." *drops microphone* update: Gans also reports GDTSTOO is still working through it, and hopefully "we here something good in the next few days."

I have a lot of trouble with $600 behind the stage...came close to $600 at the side of the stage, but then the scalpers win...I am officially desperate again. Any clue if these Stub Hub Pit tickets include the Lounge with Gourmet Food and Open Bar the way the “Golden Road” package deal did? LOL, Pit lowest price for 3-day started at $15,000 yesterday, down to $6990 now. I will wait until they are down to a little over the original Dead asking price around $2000. Either that or stay home and play Pembroke Pines May 1977 all day long!

No need being angry my fellow fans...sadness is all that should be here. I realize anger is part of the process - I am at bargaining...and really hoping that those jerks on stubhub either get stuck with tickets or the prices keep dropping; and then so can I! I have been told patience is a virtue, mine is being tested and I must wait...karma is a bitch and well...the 360 stage comment in the Billboard article raised some questions, like ok, I buy behind the stage, will it be completely blanked out or just see the back of the boys heads as they play? No screen? If that is the case, I am totally cool with back of the stage. Actually I am totally cool with the back of the stage right now just cuz I want in!

On the TM site, if you go into a show date's sale page and select the TICKET TYPE drop-down, there is a "?" button that can be selected and says: Behind the Stage Seating - NO VIEW. Seats are behind the stage and video will be provided. Please beware that NO part of the stage is visible! Side of Stage Seating - LIMITED VIEW. Seats may have LIMITED VIEW of some or all parts of the stage. Video is available in these sections

Like the article, it does showcase one thing clearly. Shapiro is the DOUCHEBAG, can't even seem to give professional interviews. He comes across as a loan shark wannabe from Jersey. Funny how my "language" offends so many here yet Shapiro(hand-picked by "the boys") can't seem to keep his cool and give an interview without coming across like one of the balloon boys on the lot skateboarding around to eventually fish out. Yet y'all defend "the boys" so vigorously?!??!!?? How could they sit in a room, face to face with him, and not realize he is a butfucker? Its overly obvious to me and I've only see him do 2 of probably most interviews of his career, and he can't keep it together for 10 seconds,.......hilarious.........and I'm the ass.......HA!

I got the email last Friday and will be getting four tix each night. While I could sell the other tix and pay my mortgage for the rest of the year, I will not. Over the past years I have had friends get me tix for Further, The Dead and The Other Ones and let me crash at their place afterwards. They are the ones who will be getting the tix. Also, one of them will let me crash at their place in Chicago. I know it is an incredible temptation to resell for a profit, to cover expenses, get laid, whatever. There are plenty of fans who will trade room and board in Chicago for a ticket. Look, I'm not judging, just sayin'.
