INTRODUCING GRATEFUL DEAD GUITARS BY ALVAREZ

In the history of modern music, few bands have captured as many hearts and inspired entire generations like the Grateful Dead. Alvarez is proud to have had a long standing friendship with band members such as Bob Weir and the late Jerry Garcia, and are commemorating the legendary group's 50th Anniversary by releasing these stunning, limited edition, signature guitars.

Grateful Dead enthusiasts will love the official artwork, cleverly screen-printed using a blend of both traditional and modern, innovative printing techniques, and all guitarists will appreciate the fine construction, playability and tone of these instruments.

Each model features a solid A-grade western red cedar top, screen printed under a flawless satin finish. Other appointments include custom mother of pearl inlays, a rosewood fingerboard and bi-level bridge and 12th fret lightning bolt inlay. Both models are constructed using the Alvarez FST2M hand finished, forward shifted, scalloped bracing system for optimal performance and response.

No two Grateful Dead series guitars are exactly the same due to the novel design and printing process that allows the individual grain pattern and color of each top to contribute to the artwork. This process also helps create a vintage look to each instrument, as if they, too, were made in the '60's. Since every piece of wood is unique, the artwork of every top is as well, making each one of these Grateful Dead commemorative guitars a true, one of a kind collector's piece.

Simply stunning and unique, just like the band themselves.

I am in Boston, but I can say I did jump on this announcement within hours of the first notification so I was likely among the first batch of orders to go in which is I why I believe I received it so quickly. The guitar came in a special GD-oriented box inside a larger box, and inside the innermost box it was wrapped up in a padded sheet. it came out of the box in perfect shape, just needed a bit of tuning and off I went. I Hope you receive it soon, and enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine. Too bad we are on opposite coasts, I love me some jamming with folks. Cheers, Sixtus

    Hey Sixtus
Glad you received your guitar. Sounds great. Hmmm wondering if mine could be delivered sooner than later. I'm north of San Francisco, where are you? Guitar Center the seller? also paranoid of damage, was it packaged well. Trival questions, but I'm wondering. Thanks!!

One of these would be very nice to have and make a great heirloom, to a kid. Head or not, maybe a chance to make them appreciate the music in a different light.

Ordered the montage and received an email that it was already sold out. Guitar center had about 200 of the marching band guitars left. I went ahead and secured a marching band version. Only 300 of each will be made.

I've used Bobby's original alvarez n couldnt afford Jerry's model. The Bobby one still to this day has the most amazing travelling rich tone of any other acoustic Ive heard. Sure the artwork is pretty but like the Dead's main philosophy is takin feedback from fans. No.1 If this guitar is made to be just a decoration that's understandable. If Bobby and late 80's to 95 Jerry were to play these they would ship em out to access more frets. Hense cut away????

The design I like the most is the one that is based on Tim Truman's "Dave's Picks, Volume 8, Fox Atlanta 11/30/80, which is one of my favorite shows. Probably the only one I'd buy, because I'd rather have a more subtle design that doesn't scream out that it's the 50th anniversary of the GD. Just a stealie on the body and a bear on the front of the headstock. I don't care for Guitar Center, either.

I received the Montage GD 50th guitar last night, however was not even expecting it until the end of the month (had received multiple notes it was on backorder) so I was superbly surprised. I will say, the guitar is as beautiful as it looks and the subtleties of the artwork up close are very nice. A cool touch is putting the circle/bolt inside the guitar so it resembles the full SYF when looking at it head on. In terms of the sound, it is deep, rich, and beautiful. I have another Alvarez f-hole acoustic electric and this one very much rivals, if not exceeds the lushness of the tone. it was important for me to get my hands on this awesome piece of art/history and also add it to my small collection of guitars. I am looking forward to my son growing up and one day jamming with dad.

Hey 4ever... They are bronzed d'adarrio acoustic strings, I believe they are the light gauge. if you aren't sure of the size, you can just replace them all if in doubt. Good luck and Enjoy!
