Curious to what afternoon gigs or where JK will present himself beyond the Forgotten Space gig. Be nice to see him rejoin DSO for the Rex benefit. Love JK, got heart.

A great band out of north Texas will be doing their Dead tribute at Martyrs in Chicago on July 1st. Caught these guys the last time they were in town... a great time... great club with excellent pizza and sandwiches. Very nearby is a smoked BBQ place called Big Bricks... highly recommend.

Leftover salmon will be playing at Park West in Chicago on July 3rd and 4th. They'll be streaming the concert live and will do an acoustic set during the concert's break and will then do a full electric set after the dead concert. Gonna be fun! PS...bring your vapes... no leaving the venue for a smoke.

Cool Marye, that you gave us this forum thread...Tanks! The Grateful Ball has a facebook page that announced they will be giving away tix starting at noon tomorrow. The price right now is $65 for all three nights. They will have rules posted soon, they say. Might be kind-of nice, having a place to wind down after the show. The capacity seems to be 3000 I'm guessing based on their 3K invite, and they've sold 1K tix already. Right now they say only three night tix are available, and if they don't sell out, they will have single nights available. Iza gonna be there, how about you? g

So now I read that the Grateful Ball's vending has sold out, and the organizers are trying to rent the banquet room across the hall from the Ball, and invite more vendors...they are thinking they can open vending from Noon till 3AM, which gives a whole nother perspective to the scene... Duhhh moment for me, I didn't even think of the vending aspect of the Ball...interesting.

is what they're calling it and http://www.frontleftproduction.com/ s the link. Another party going on after the concerts, friends. Stu Allen and Mars Hotel with many special guests is what their website says. Don't know a darn thing about the scene, but know three day passes are $108, and they offer pretty much continual shuttles from Soldier field to their party till 2:30 AM... g

Another great event on July 4 weekend is Fitzgerald s Great American Music Fest. Great bands , food & people. Fitzgeralds is in Berwyn about 15 minutes west of downtown. If you feel the need for a break from the scene, this is a great option.

...which is going on all three days, from midnight to 3 AM after each show, has SOLD OUT of three day tickets. They now have a limited number of one-day tickets available for $35 per person. Just a heads up to anyone thinking of going...might wanna grab a tix or three... G

Thank you for the "heads" up! I was hoping to win the 3-day pass contest for the Ball - then found out they were sold out! Got up early this morning to get a ticket for Sunday but - d'oh! There is no daylight savings here in Arizona where I'm visiting family so I got shut out of that too. I bought ticket for Friday night. I am considering getting a 3 day pass for After Fare. The only way I have to compare the two is online. Haven't spoken to any folks directly about what they think of each event and venue. I trust the weekend will roll out just as it ought. Peaces
