    Waiting, too
I have the same feeling in my stomach. As others have mentioned, I hope they expand the GA seating. I went all or nothing for GA with mail order; no second choice. I couldn't get myself to send in multiple money orders. With that feeling in my stomach I am tempted to buy another four online when they come out as insurance. I don't want to miss this but, wow, this is potentially an expensive weekend coming from VA. I don't want to keep sinking cash when mail order could show up in the mail in March after they disappear from the online brokers. Anyway, good luck to others. This surely will be epic.

    the cost vs the ethics
Sir Dire, I agree, there will always be an ethical conundrum, and there will always be have and have-nots. I do not begrudge those who live in Marin County with million dollar homes...many have paid their dues and have worked hard for it.I feel for those living in the economically depressed areas, with debt, dead-end jobs, and need a ray of sunshine to brighten their day. Money does make life easier, and I agree, it is not always easy to come by. Everywhere you look, you can upgrade by paying more for something, from a good bottle of wine, to early entry on an airplane, heck, even the seat choices now come with a premium price. Organic food cost more, exclusive hotels cost more, that nice car comes at a price. VIP tickets may very well be $1000, who knows? I guess on Tuesday, we will all find out. We didn't create this system, and yes, greed comes in to play at the promoters end.Bill Graham was part of that back in the '60s, and he was both loved and vilified for his stance. Will the core 4 make money to showcase their music? You bet. Would they play for free, who knows. My first show in '72 was free, but I imagine the band got paid. Now they'll get paid more, even with the economic in-equality present in our society. Do we let people in for free or at a reduced cost because "They've paid their dues" over someone who is paying their dues now? No, that wouldn't be fair...Is it always fair? No. Does that suck? Yes. I am happy that the boys are doing this one more time, and a celebration of life and love is what we need...money grab issues, ethical considerations over costs or fairness not with-standing. Let's embrace the family, rich and poor, think globally, act locally, and do our best to support the music. In my twenties, no way could I afford to fly, much less upgrade. While I've worked in the same trade for over 40 years, I'm no where near the top. Back in the day, I had to sacrifice to pay for tickets and go to a show...18 bucks? times three days? Yikes! Man, this is such great music...listening to Sugar Magnolia this morning...So Direwulf I agree, there will always be ethical considerations, and that's where we each have to make our own decision. There is a limit, too, for each of us. I do not begrudge yours, and it will certainly be different from mine. I will not pay a grand for a ticket, but would I pay $500? That would hurt. Maybe, but dang...sure hope the mail order comes thru. Got a wad of cash invested in that endeavor, like many of us. The proof might boil down to a tough choice; we who invest in the travel and accommodations, and don't have tickets. I detest scalpers, who don't care about the family or the scene. But somewhere along the line, I might have to pay a higher price to someone who also paid a high price. I would choose that over a greedy grab for money..but there is a limit. I dislike anything I can't afford...but that "cost" is a moving target...that ain't gonna change. So I works, I saves, and I spends...like many of us...got debt, got life, got love, like many of us...and got plane tickets, got hotel confirmed, and I waits patiently. With peace and love and all good thoughts for all of us...have an awesome day! G

    cost of admission
a person can pay their dues, but it still does not solve the ethical conundrum of buying their way into "exclusive" places because they have a wad of cash and other people don't. Yeah I get it, it's your money you can do what you want, but with increasing income equality in the temple of capitalism that is our country having sentiments such as this can seem off base and out of touch with the current reality for many in this country. Rationalize it, but it still doesn't change the fact that they are stepping in front of everyone else with a fistful of cash and saying I deserve to be here because now I can afford it an those people can not. Just because they used to not be able to afford it does not beget special privilege. Scalpers and the a secondary market are to blame for ticket prices the methods they employ to get tickets and distribute tickets is dubious at best. Anyone person says they paid their dues in the prosperous earlier years of this country obviously doesn't know what it's like to pay their dues in a time of the shrinking middle class, income inequality, student loan debt, no jobs, monocropping, big business, housing market crash, government default, republican anti-environment Koch brothers oligarchy. Rant over. And why is the phrase that says you've "put in your time" really just saying "I've paid enough" let me in. I will be buying tickets as well but I'm not spending 4000$ for two tickets just because I can. "I hate anything I cant afford" - Henry Rollins

re:daysoffIride...100% agree. I sent GDTSTOO and email to the same effect. I know they're not responding to email. But all we need is a simple post: we're done, no more tix OR you still have a chance if you have not received pink slip. there it took 10 seconds to type that.

Long time user, firs time poster. Wow. TT is an epic douche and complete idiot to boot. I mean, I've seen some ass clown posts here in the past, but these take the cake. It doesn't help that he/she has no understanding of how concerts are promoted, that venues have contracts with ticket outlets, and how much leverage bands actually have in these negotiations. Not to mention creating tin foil hat theories. If TT had any kind of life, we wouldn't have to scroll past so many pathetic cries for attention. To those that received tickets, congratulations. It should be a wonderful celebration. Ultimately, the place will be overwhelmingly filled with heads come showtime. For those who did not get tickets, my condolences. Hopefully, we may still receive confirmation emails starting monday. However, you're not losing out to scalpers. You're losing put to high demand. Of the 210,000 seats available for 3 nights, there are only 5997 tickets on stubhub.com. That includes the 3 day tickets being multiplied by 3. That is 2.86% of all tickets. Most brokerage agencies overlap the same tickets. Approximately 5% of all available tickets are being scalped. You could blame the band for not having more dates or not putting on a show in a huge field. However, they're pretty damn old. A tour would likely be low quality, and a modern attempt at High Gate would be worse then the last gate crashing, overdose event. Why go out in a cloud of dust? It is what it is, and I'm just happy there are 4 guys remaining to celebrate this historic band even if it's a webcast with friends and family. Let it go, and listen to the music play. :)

I was just thinking about that. I haven't heard of anyone getting anything other than obstructed view from Ticketmonger yesterday. If you look at Stubnub or others, almost all of theirs are obstructed views also. Are tickets being held back for later release?

I am going to think long and hard about my decision regarding the ultimate recipient(s) of my additional pass. Your suggestions will definitely be included in my decision-making process. I want to handle this in a way that is true to the original spirit of the band, the deadicated fans (new and old), and lastly, myself. Also of utmost importance to me is to do this in a way that acknowledges and pays respect to those of us that will not be fortunate enough to attend this historic occasion. This includes (past and present) friends, family, band and crew members, and those long-time hardcore fans that got shut out of the process. Much love and respect to you all. I promise to do my best to humbly and appropriately represent you all via my presence in Chicago this Summer. Fare thee well, my friends! :^)

I upgraded to 100 mbps. While I scored two (wife did) and got close to others (wait time 3 Minutes) could not score another date. One thing I would do differently is select a specific ticket, instead of best available. The time it took to think and search for my ticket with best available I feel is longer than say one specific price point.

+1 on comments. I for one am hoping they are holding back tix, but doubt it, either that or some kind stranger offers to sell me a ticket that they have left over instead of the scalpers... -1 on name calling; that doesn't solve anything. Seriously dude.

Maybe the band got snookered by the promoter. Can't see Bill, Bob, Mickey, and Phil selling seats with "no view". An idea for the band: Loose whatever backdrops were going to be on stage and open up the view (we are okay with the 3 giant drums - it's iconic). Thanks.

My wife yesterday called tech support with TicketMaster. Very surprised a talking human was on the other line. Make a long story short, she (tech support) vaguely hinted in a round about way that the promoter will release more tickets. Wishful thinking maybe on my part, but I do know the closer to the concerts venues release tickets at various price points. Not thousands, but a few hundred. This is what MSG does in NYC.

Hey all! I'm not usually the type of person to start a cause, I'm the one in the background hoping someone else will do it, but there's so much negativity and I was hoping we could turn it into a positive. I started a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GratefulDeadFansUnite. Please like it and pass it on. I really believe that if we avoid these ticket scalpers that we can make a change. Let's stop placing blame and do something about it. I have hope and I feel like if we stick together we can get into those shows. Believe me I was angry too and I almost fell victim to Stubhub because I wanted those shows, needed those shows so badly, but I resisted temptation. I think we can win this. Remember how much we love this band! They could have never anticipated this would happen. Keep the faith!

Tickets on secondary market sites really suggests that the “good” seats did sell on Ticketmaster Saturday. But why are we not reading more posts like Moosebutt’s tickets in section 119? I got into TM at 10:04 CST and you could only select side of stage or behind stage.

Ok now I am sick to my stomach seeing all of these lucky people who got tix from TM yesterday. I was doing ok for a bit today, but now...argh. I'm a grown man and want to cry...three people at three separate locations on three separate computers trying to buy at 10:00:01 and nothing. Ok I have to go away for a bit now...this is not good (for me).

Just heard on Sirius XM GD station today. GD negotiated a contract with TM to sell a undisclosed amount of tickets. GD renegotiated with TM and got back a bulk of premium seats for GDTS too. Explains why only crappy seats were sold on TM yesterday. Explains alot of things. And leaves alot of hope for Mail Order limbo and everyone else. Take a listen!!

As someone else stated... Gans reported not only did a majority of the good seats go to GDTSTOO, GDTSTOO also received the majority of tickets in general. Originally, it was a three-way split with GDTS, the presale, and the regular on-sale with ticketmaster. Once the demand from mail order was realized, they renegotiated with TM for the presale tickets to go to GDTS. Gans said, "GDTS has the majority of best seats in the house." *drops microphone* update: Gans also reports GDTSTOO is still working through it, and hopefully "we here something good in the next few days."

ANYONE and I mean ANYONE at this point that will sell any number of tix to any number of shows I will pay a fair price for them. I have a lot of trouble with $600 behind the stage...came close to $600 at the side of the stage, but then the scalpers win...I am officially desperate again. Any clue if these Stub Hub Pit tickets include the Lounge with Gourmet Food and Open Bar the way the “Golden Road” package deal did? LOL, Pit lowest price for 3-day started at $15,000 yesterday, down to $6990 now. I will wait until they are down to a little over the original Dead asking price around $2000. Either that or stay home and play Pembroke Pines May 1977 all day long!

No need being angry my fellow fans...sadness is all that should be here. I realize anger is part of the process - I am at bargaining...and really hoping that those jerks on stubhub either get stuck with tickets or the prices keep dropping; and then so can I! I have been told patience is a virtue, mine is being tested and I must wait...karma is a bitch and well...the 360 stage comment in the Billboard article raised some questions, like ok, I buy behind the stage, will it be completely blanked out or just see the back of the boys heads as they play? No screen? If that is the case, I am totally cool with back of the stage. Actually I am totally cool with the back of the stage right now just cuz I want in!

On the TM site, if you go into a show date's sale page and select the TICKET TYPE drop-down, there is a "?" button that can be selected and says: Behind the Stage Seating - NO VIEW. Seats are behind the stage and video will be provided. Please beware that NO part of the stage is visible! Side of Stage Seating - LIMITED VIEW. Seats may have LIMITED VIEW of some or all parts of the stage. Video is available in these sections

Like the article, it does showcase one thing clearly. Shapiro is the DOUCHEBAG, can't even seem to give professional interviews. He comes across as a loan shark wannabe from Jersey. Funny how my "language" offends so many here yet Shapiro(hand-picked by "the boys") can't seem to keep his cool and give an interview without coming across like one of the balloon boys on the lot skateboarding around to eventually fish out. Yet y'all defend "the boys" so vigorously?!??!!?? How could they sit in a room, face to face with him, and not realize he is a butfucker? Its overly obvious to me and I've only see him do 2 of probably most interviews of his career, and he can't keep it together for 10 seconds,.......hilarious.........and I'm the ass.......HA!

So you are exactly the people you have been ranting about? Cool - absolutely insane that you got tickets. "$20 for a 'loon hit bra, no deals..." Go to StubHub and have a great time. And I actually told the dude who was calling you out that he was out of order. You are a douche. At least you admit that you plan on using your ticket to hire a date for the weekend. I got the email last Friday and will be getting four tix each night. While I could sell the other tix and pay my mortgage for the rest of the year, I will not. Over the past years I have had friends get me tix for Further, The Dead and The Other Ones and let me crash at their place afterwards. They are the ones who will be getting the tix. Also, one of them will let me crash at their place in Chicago. I know it is an incredible temptation to resell for a profit, to cover expenses, get laid, whatever. There are plenty of fans who will trade room and board in Chicago for a ticket. Look, I'm not judging, just sayin'.
