i could certainly live with these 5! I thought about Derek n Dominoes Live at the Filmore, I think it is. That "why does love have to be so sad?" is major jam. It feels like a cardio workout just listening to it. Neil could/should be on my list except there is no single CD that is totally satisfying. But I am huge NY fan. I've made a few compilations (not greatest hits...my favorites that sound great on the same CD IMO) that might make it, but that's cheatin', and there's enough cheatin' going on in this game:)

my first concert was in Arizona, some old barn where the Suns used to play. I don't think it is still there....I moved to Phoenix in early 1978. The concert was fantastic. I have seen Springsteen maybe 6 or 7 times since...each show is a great party. Yeah...Money , Money could have been deleted. it is one of the few GD tracks I skip. thanks for the tip on the Habenero Sculpin. I tried at a beer fest this year in Ft Worth but I can't find it in stores. I'll look soon before it sells out. Yummy. Have fun at the lake.

Thanks for playing....nice list, I agree Mars Hotel was quite accessible and even Money Money is still listenable, barely....:-) Dylan and the Boss are no brainers, btw were you at Landover 78 for the Darkness tour...it was exceptional, best one of the east coast run IMO....think I may have a boot DVD of it as well.... Heads anywhere from 77 thru Naked not a bad one in the lot, all different but same as it ever was.... Now onto WP....when I first got SXM in the car and found deep tracks, I thought I knew music, but after a Weir solo performance in the studio, which blew me away, on comes Travelin' Light from your aforementioned release. I was intrigued, bought them, heard them, saw them... But I still don't get them, but hey....I respect what they do and their legions of fans must know something....very talented, I just can't find the groove.... BTW public service announcement Ballast Brewery in San Diego just bottled a fresh batch of Habanero Sculpin, not for the faint of heart or palate...it will wake up your taste buds....and don't mix with Mexican food....accentuates the pepper....interestingly a piece of good dark chocolate like 70% pairs well.... Happy Labor Day all!!!!! Off to Lake Ontario.....

    my five, today
Grateful Dead Mars Hotel. love the songs. Scarlet Begonias and Unbroken Chain are still two of my favorites. As those and other songs matured live over the years, I've always appreciated the original songs even more. Plus, this album, American Beauty, Europe 72 and Workingman's Dead were my original intro the Dead from a friend in the dorm. Our group enjoyed many days and nights listening to these records. Dylan: Blood on the Tracks....I just like this record. I'm not particularly a Dylan fan but this one is exceptional...and agree with the prior comment it and Desire are really 1 album. Bruce: Darkness on the Edge of Town. Not only do I like the music, the lyrics remind of growing up in Baltimore in a very working class neighborhood, from which my Dad would go to work in the factory every day. Never felt the angst or resentment that drips from this record but I get it. Also, this album was released as my now-wife-of-almost 37 years began dating. She turned me onto Bruce. Our first date was a Springsteen concert. The dogs on main street howl! Talking Heads Naked. I just like the bebop and groove. A couple of clunkers on this one but most are great. We used to host a 3 day Memorial Day party for 3 or 4 families with kids our age. Inevitably, sometime after the kiddies were asleep, someone would be dancing on the coffee table to "nothing but flowers"! Widespread Panic Space Wrangler. top tunes from top to bottom. I know some say too derivative but I don't care and would disagree if i did care. I first heard about WSP by reading the WSJ in late 90s in the weekend edition. The story talked about their similarity to the Dead in wanting to manage and control marketing, distribution, etc,. and incessant touring, penchant for jams, borrowing from multiple genres, etc. Intrigued, I went to a local record store...they still existed...and randomly selected Space Wrangler from a few others titles they had. For the next several years I often heard "Who is this? They're good!" when i had CDs on in my car. I preferred Mikey at lead, but Herring is not too shabby! There you have it. all rock. all older rock I guess. it pained me to leave JGB "Let it Rock" off, Drive by Truckers "Decoration Day", Little Feat "Feets", no DP in Boston 1991, no "Wake of the Flood". Doc Watson could make the list on another day.

This party is going to work out real smooth. Just exactly perfect. If not, it will be an epic catastrophe. We only hope if there are resulting prison sentences that they aren't to harsh.

My thinking is: secure as many tickets as possible in the hands of True Heads through the lottery, then get busy in a massive swap meet with Californians holding Chi-town tickets who would rather trade and stay close to home. Let's secure those new tickets, folks.

What the hell? I take a few hours out of my FTW obsession to see my Orioles get smacked in the kiester by a flock of Canadian ballplayers... and the whole galactic paradigm shifts! web service was down on my phone, now i'm hours behind on the next wave of anxiety. Can I/Should I go? I'll definitely put in for tix, Graceful is spot on with that, they can always be shared by those not looking to exploit. Can someone help me clear these flight/hotel searches from my browser history before the wife gets home?. I miss Jerry.

Dear Abby, Less than six hours ago everything was stable. All navigation systems were programmed and functioning perfectly. Compass pointed to Terrapin. Now east and west are all screwed up. Target destination is permanently fixed on Chicago. And that's just the way I want it. And now I'm trying to plot a course that gets us to Chicago via Santa Clara. Please help me Abby cause all I have now is an obnoxious horse giving me advice.

Dear Abby and her sister Ann Landers are trying to score extra ducats to Levi's....they bought CID VIP....with a handful of our SD crew....who needs them.... Once, we were one in body and one in purpose....so what, we whack ten or so names off the shirt....Tami make it happen....grrrrrrrlllll. Scrap the design, screw the fountain and let's all go solo....Jeff and Tami worked hard, but hey the Dead are going home and giving back to the left coast...as they should....we don't matter. We don't know each other, we are a motley crew of obsessed strangers, friends without faces who are jeopardizing our retirement, marriages, careers and lives, all for one final weekend celebrating a band that ended in 1995.....and the leader of the band is dead for God sakes..... This is going down the shitter quick Dudley.....was it Santa Clara or Mr. Ed...or David Gans....I don't know..... And if it does.... It doesn't make up for the fact that I still am a Deadhead and I miss Jerry..... My name is staying on the shirt and I will be in Chicago.... Who's with me.....

Life is all about compromise. This old adage worked beautifully. My gal has been a life-long Cubbie fan. I don't follow baseball until the playoffs begin. She likes the Grateful Dead but is far from being a fanatic (like me). The last big thing on her bucket list is seeing the Cubs at Wrigley Field, she has wanted to do this for over fifty years. I score the Cubs tickets and before she's recovered I hit her with the news that the Dead are going to be there that same weekend. What a surprise. Oh no, it's going to be the last time I can ever see them. I now have a green light to search for tickets almost no matter what the cost. She still thinks the main reason for going to Chicago is to see the Cubs. Small price to pay, I think.

Today was such a good day I could hardly contain it. Good thing there is a river mote of posts and notes here to calm me down... can't get through them all I'm skimming most. 6 day work weeks got me taaahred... gotta get that dough though! No scalping for me, no sireeee. Either I or a family member in the show on my tickets. Can't wait to see if we all get tickets to SC... My t-shirt line will be incorrect then but small price, eh? Can't wait to see you guys in the park. Looks like we will literally have our flag flying high thanks to Totem? Trying to map out if one of us can stash some brightly colored umbrellas at the ho-tel. Good for spotting each other and a spot in the shade. Peace and nightzzz

Morning campers....Oooooh my, what a day ithat was. Left coasters in a frenzy, east coasters hopes dashed....a new round of anticipation, and possible heartbreak. I can't do CID two weeks in a row but can do a lottery and leave on a jet plane.... or miracle a Few.... I propose a separate forum to discuss Levi Stadium plans..... As we get closer to the shows, these subforums will have more specifics re. our respective Crusades.... It will preserve the spirit of SD and allow the character of Levi to develop a life of its own.... Wishing everyone a blessed Saturday... so which way do we go, George? We're happy as fish and gorgeous as geese and wonderfully clean in the morning.....

Good Morning All! A glorious sunrise, and a wonderful Saturday to you. First things first....We Are Sunshine Daydreamers, whether we are the left coasters or the Chi-dreamers, we are one and won are we. We stay true to our roots, this forum, and post away in all abandon. 'cept you rgrrrgrrgr, you gotta drive. And a fine job you are doing. Steady on, Daddio, keep on course, stopover in Santa Scara for a field trip to see the Californai hippies, then onward to Chicago. Our T-shirt might be just fine. Our vision certainly is. A mini-tour for the Dead, a choice for us all, and music to rock our souls. Let's see how things shake down Rjjjrrrrjjjr and all. We'll talk it up on the email thread and then go public. If the cats and kittens wanna play elsewhere, because there is another weekend to party, then so-be-it. We can do both here just fine. Maybe the left side of the bus can be the SC-bound folks, and the right-righteous side be the Chi-town Irregulars. ciao, tally ho, pass the sugar, thanks. Geoallisokmeister

strawberry cream cheese pie sounds delicious, although probably too far back in the thread to be relevant. i doubt it cares. so happy for you left-coasters!! A "nya nya" to those that sneered at the notion that the band actually does give a crap about its family. joining Stella in the six-day grind (although i'm salaried so who's it all for anyway?) gotta focus, so a passing wave, and back to the path right foggy.
