Poster Gewee has given a REALLY good rundown on Chicago points of interest in the 'Guide to Chicago' thread. A good list of places to eat (including the vegan recommendations that I couldn't give rgr.) I'd take the poster down the line, MissReddin, with a grain of salt; there is a CLARK COUNTY in Illinois, but that's a way's away in Southern Illinois. Chicago is in COOK County. I find myself alive.... One more day to patch my sails, and shine my rails... Packing list is ready.... On my way to the mines Coffe is brewed.... Happy Hump Day...so hump like theres no tomorrow and now for the final time...Supper IS Ready Walking across the sitting-room, I turn the television off. Sitting beside you, I look into your eyes. As the sound of motor cars fades in the night time, I swear I saw your face change, it didn't seem quite right. ...And it's hello babe with your guardian eyes so blue Hey my baby don't you know our love is true. Coming closer with our eyes, a distance falls around our bodies. Out in the garden, the moon seems very bright, Six saintly shrouded men move across the lawn slowly. The seventh walks in front with a cross held high in hand. ...And it's hey babe your supper's waiting for you. Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true. I've been so far from here, Far from your warm arms. It's good to feel you again, It's been a long long time. Hasn't it? [The Guaranteed Eternal Sanctuary Man] I know a farmer who looks after the farm. With water clear, he cares for all his harvest. I know a fireman who looks after the fire. You, can't you see he's fooled you all. Yes, he's here again, can't you see he's fooled you all. Share his peace, Sign the lease. He's a supersonic scientist, He's the guaranteed eternal sanctuary man. Look, look into my mouth he cries, And all the children lost down many paths, I bet my life you'll walk inside Hand in hand, gland in gland With a spoonful of miracle, He's the guaranteed eternal sanctuary. We will rock you, rock you little snake, We will keep you snug and warm. [Ikhnaton And Itsacon And Their Band Of Merry Men] Wearing feelings on our faces while our faces took a rest, We walked across the fields to see the children of the West, But we saw a host of dark skinned warriors standing still below the ground, Waiting for battle. The fight's begun, they've been released. Killing foe for peace...bang, bang, bang. Bang, bang, bang... And they're giving me a wonderful potion, 'Cos I cannot contain my emotion. And even though I'm feeling good, Something tells me I'd better activate my prayer capsule. Today's a day to celebrate, the foe have met their fate. The order for rejoicing and dancing has come from our warlord. [How Dare I Be So Beautiful?] Wandering through the chaos the battle has left, We climb up a mountain of human flesh, To a plateau of green grass, and green trees full of life. A young figure sits still by a pool, He's been stamped "Human Bacon" by some butchery tool. (He is you) Social Security took care of this lad. We watch in reverence, as Narcissus is turned to a flower. A flower? [Willow Farm] If you go down to Willow Farm, to look for butterflies, flutterbyes, gutterflies Open your eyes, it's full of surprise, everyone lies, like the fox on the rocks, and the musical box. Oh, there's Mum & Dad, and good and bad, and everyone's happy to be here. There's Winston Churchill dressed in drag, he used to be a British flag, plastic bag, what a drag. The frog was a prince, the prince was a brick, the brick was an egg, the egg was a bird. (Fly away you sweet little thing, they're hard on your tail) Hadn't you heard? (They're going to change you into a human being!) Yes, we're happy as fish and gorgeous as geese, and wonderfully clean in the morning. We've got everything, we're growing everything, We've got some in We've got some out We've got some wild things floating about Everyone, we're changing everyone, you name them all, We've had them here, And the real stars are still to appear. ALL CHANGE! Feel your body melt; Mum to mud to mad to dad Dad diddley office, Dad diddley office, You're all full of ball. Dad to dam to dum to mum Mum diddley washing, Mum diddley washing, You're all full of ball. Let me hear you lies, we're living this up to the eyes. Ooee-ooee-ooee-oowaa Momma I want you now. And as you listen to my voice To look for hidden doors, tidy floors, more applause. You've been here all the time, Like it or not, like what you got, You're under the soil (the soil, the soil), Yes, deep in the soil (the soil, the soil, the soil, the soil!). So we'll end with a whistle and end with a bang and all of us fit in our places. [Apocalypse In 9/8 (Co-Starring the delicious talents of Gabble Ratchet)] With the guards of Magog, swarming around, The Pied Piper takes his children underground. Dragons coming out of the sea, Shimmering silver head of wisdom looking at me. He brings down the fire from the skies, You can tell he's doing well by the look in human eyes. Better not compromise. It won't be easy. 666 is no longer alone, He's getting out the marrow in your back bone, And the seven trumpets blowing sweet rock and roll, Gonna blow right down inside your soul. Pythagoras with the looking glass reflects the full moon, In blood, he's writing the lyrics of a brand new tune. And it's hey babe, with your guardian eyes so blue, Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true, I've been so far from here, Far from your loving arms, Now I'm back again, and babe it's gonna work out fine. [As Sure As Eggs Is Eggs (Aching Men's Feet)] Can't you feel our souls ignite Shedding ever changing colours, in the darkness of the fading night, Like the river joins the ocean, as the germ in a seed grows We have finally been freed to get back home. There's an angel standing in the sun, and he's crying with a loud voice, "This is the supper of the mighty one", Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Has returned to lead his children home, To take them to the new Jerusalem.

What's the best way do you folx think? Request 2 tickets for each night? Request 3 tickets for each night? Request 4 tickets for each night? My experience is that the only ticket I was able to get for CHI was a single. Money is a consideration for me, so ideally need only ask for 2 or 3 tickets a night, but as agreed, I don't want to miss out on a chance to help a brother out, if need be. I have family here who are interested in joining me for SC, that's why the increased number. There are 3 of us so far. Who knows what cool cats I'll meet down the road who will want to join me on the bus... Tactic intuition family? I am spent from slinging tacos and then celebrating a birthday. It's quiet time in my head. Someone shake the decision makers awake! Lovelove Stella.

Whew, back from driving 1,000 miles in less than 48 hours. Fortunately, my trusty rental Kia Optima had Channel 23. Could have gotten the red Camaro or the SUV free upgrade (w/out sat) but how else would I have heard 3 1/2 concerts and Shapiro's letter read a dozen times? Listening to the To Lay Me Down from 7-7-81 and thinking about the FTW shows gave me goose bumps. Anywho, just wanted to say it's good to be back and read the positive vibes for the additional SC shows. I give a lot of credit to the band members--I was pretty critical of them with the Chicago ticketing fiasco, but their letter was very heartfelt and classy. I think they realized they could do better and they did. Kudos, gentlemen! Nice to read all the submissions here. Tough to keep up after an absence but I'm really looking forward to meeting you all in Chitown. Peace.

Article reads like he single-handedly rescued the bands legacy. I don't know what his connection to the band is other than a columnist who's tin foil hat conspiracy piece went viral, but don't pull a muscle patting yourself on the back, dude.

Stella, put in for what you need and leave the rest. The way I see things, if everyone scored one extra ticket for every seat needed, one- half of folks seeking tickets will get denied in the lotto. Better than in the hands of scalpers, but still...

I was so glad that the statement was released Friday. It seemed to quickly reaffirm faith in the band for some folks. I never really could blame the band. Their function is to facilitate the magic on the stage. But I'm not making the connection that Shapiro is more a part of this than he is a part of the marketing process. Maybe I just haven't noticed him side stage providing amazing air guitar licks that take the music to the next level. This statement and some others give the impression he really is playing in the band. "From the moment these shows were first talked about, we have considered ways to honor the roots of our Deadhead experience, even in the face of changing technologies. Remember, Ticketmaster didn’t even go on-line until we got out of the game." Every one despises Snydley (aka Ticketmaster). It's easy to blame it all on him, and he knows being the villain is his job. Like it or not he is here to stay. In the words of the masterful Willie J. Clinton, it depends on what the meaning of is is. But just remember this Pete, if you point a Willie at Snydley you'll have five Willies pointing right back at you.

As an eastcoaster I am unable to attend the SC shows, and having been shut out of Chi town (so far) I am wondering if any SDers that are on the westcoast, would be up for a trade if I get SC tix? I am happy to get in the lotto just to be able to help someone out for face, however I would like to arrange an equitable trade, my question, is any one interested in such a trade? Thanks, and pass that coffee....

That's exactly what I did... I'm not going to SC but put myself in the lotto - option one, both nights to help out our Cally heads (or anyone wanting to make the trip for those shows). Chi-Town ticket barter always welcomed also. Have to say I'm way alarmed there are still tons of CID options left and a TM pre-sale happening. Either word has not hit the street like the Chicago build-up, or, demand is no where near what we all might have thought. Or, Cally is just being Cally and they're still in first gear :-)

it is kind of suprising, given the Chi town frenzy, I'd hate to lay out for SC tix and nobody wants them or wants to trade, I'm still hopeful this will make Chi tix easier to come by

...for sure. This may strike a raw nerve but from my perspective if you're buying them to barter or for any purpose but for going to the show you're using them as a currency of one form or another. And now you have some uncomfortable overlap with scalpers. I'm not suggesting by any stretch it's evil like selling no-view seats for $1K. But still...

Santa Clara will sell out. I'm not sure what is up with CID ticket sales, but attitude toward the shows and hype not being that as it is for Chicago be factor. I predict Chicago tickets might even be more highly sought once these show dates hit. Don't wait too long to pull the trigger for Chicago. I think it was DWC that predicts mid June as the sweet spot. I think he's right.
