Mama told me when I was young Come sit beside me, my only son And listen closely to what I say. And if you do this It will help you some sunny day. Take your time... Don't live too fast, Troubles will come and they will pass. Go find a woman and you'll find love, And don't forget son, There is someone up above. [Chorus:] And be a simple kind of man. Be something you love and understand. Baby, be a simple kind of man. Oh won't you do this for me son, If you can? Forget your lust for the rich man's gold All that you need is in your soul, And you can do this if you try. All that I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied. [Chorus] Boy, don't you worry. You'll find yourself. Follow your heart, And nothing else. You can do this, If you try. All that I want for you my son, Is to be satisfied. [Chorus] Baby, be a simple, be a simple man Oh, be something you love and understand Baby, be a simple kind of man

I was cutting the rug Down at a place called The Jug With a girl named Linda Lu When in walked a man With a gun in his hand And he was looking for you know who. He said, "Hey there fellow, With the hair colored yellow, Watcha tryin' to prove? 'Cause that's my woman there And I'm a man who cares And this might be all for you." I was scared and fearing for my life. I was shakin' like a leaf on a tree. 'Cause he was lean, mean, Big and bad, Lord, Pointin' that gun at me. I said, "Wait a minute, mister, I didn't even kiss her. Don't want no trouble with you. And I know you don't owe me But I wish you'd let me Ask one favor from you." [Chorus] "Won't you give me three steps, Gimme three steps mister, Gimme three steps towards the door? Gimme three steps Gimme three steps mister, And you'll never see me no more." Well the crowd cleared away And I began to pray As the water fell on the floor. And I'm telling you son, Well, it ain't no fun Staring straight down a forty-four. Well he turned and screamed at Linda Lu And that's the break I was looking for. And you could hear me screaming a mile away As I was headed out towards the door yes, please...

Hey buddy, I agree. I am a changed person as well. I met up with you folks to try to get a taste of the vibe and I got a whole soul full! Those talking trash obviously are not as attune to the cosmic vibrations reverberating through Chicago that weekend as we. Well I used to wake the mornin' Before the rooster crowed Searchin' for soda bottles To get myself some dough Brought 'em down to the corner Down to the country store Cash 'em in and give my money To a man named Curtis Lowe [Verse 2] Old Curt was a black man With white curly hair When he had a fifth of wine He did not have a care He used to own an old Dobro Used to play across his knee I'd give old Curt my money He'd play all day for me [Chorus] Play me a song Curtis Lowe, Curtis Lowe Well I got your drinkin' money Tune up your Dobro People said he was a'useless Them people all were fools 'Cause Curtis Lowe was the finest picker To ever play the blues [Verse 3] Well he looked to be 60 Maybe I was 10 Momma used to whoop me But I'd go see him again I'd clap my hands, stomp my feet Tryin' to stay in time Well he'd play me a song or two Then take another drink of wine [Chorus] Play me a song Curtis Lowe, Curtis Lowe Well I got your drinkin' money Tune up your Dobro People said he was a'useless Them people all were fools 'Cause Curtis Lowe was the finest picker To ever play the blues [Verse 4] On the day old Curtis died Nobody came to pray Old preacher said some words And they chucked him in the clay Well he lived a lifetime Playin' the black man's blues And on the day he lost his life That's all he had to lose [Chorus w/alternate ending] Play me a song Curtis Lowe, yeah Curtis Lowe I wish that you was here So everyone would know People said you was a'useless But them people all were fools 'Cuz Curtis your the finest picker To ever play the blues

congrats to those who made it. too bad to those who did not. your own fault who didn't even try (me). but as others have said, a much higher percentage went to fans for these shows so whatever becomes available will probably be more reasonably priced. i still can't decide if i should/can have/make the time to go even if i could score a single. i sure hope this is the hardest decision i have to make this summer :)

Maybe it was meant to be. Think all the great shows going on in Chicago in addition to the 3 shows. Maybe just make a long weekend out of Chicago. I'm def throwing all my marbles at Chi town. I'm hitting the Rex benefit Thursday. Moe Saturday. The Jerry tribute show with Kimock, Greene, and Melvin Seals and company on Sunday afternoon. And I'm just getting started with other plans. I'm sure SC will be fun, but Chicago will be through the roof. He travels the fastest who travels alone

Who won the lottery! Brother Adam said it just right "feeling lucky and humbled. The lovelight is bright." That is exactly how it feels!! I am on the other side tonight - having gotten the regret email... I might just have to keep my SC hotel reservation and go see what I see... Don't want the back of the tshirt to be wrong!! Haha. My heart feels tender and smarts a little, but I have faith and will see you all soon! I just got home from work and have some catching up to do... gonna have a little snack and maybe watch a movie and breath first... Nightzzzzzz.

Given this theatre announcement, my guess is that Shapiro couldn't do a bigger deal with the cable and satellite providers for an in-home PPV. I would have thought that to be not only ideal for the fan and consumer, but a revenue jackpot for the band and Peter. Maybe that's coming...who knows. I will fork out for the boxed-set DVD in blu-ray when it comes out though :-)

Perhaps they are going for the group experience? That is only speculation, but I would rather go to a cinema with 500 people and awesome acoustics, than sit at home eating cheesies and beer...wait...beer, no, most cinemas sell beer now...thank you VIP cinemas!

Group experiences happen in the home as well and in a less restrictive and constrictive way.... Can't speak for your entertainment room, but my acoustics don't suck and I'm wired inside and out.... I would NEVER spend Independence Day at a movie theater... But I won't have to... And they could do both....

My acoustics SUCK - I don't even own a TV. I sold my turntable years ago to move to Europe (amp too) As for the group experience - definitely, but I am a loner in a sea of people asking why I even listen to a band that arguably died in the late 70's...I caught a lot of flack for saying I even wanted to go to a Dead concert. People don't get it and they look at you like you are crazy when you say something, so, finding a group that would start to emulate a concert experience...that would be tough (for me at least) And you sir, were one of the very lucky ones (of course you know this) - also my 'independence day' read Canada had already passed so - meh...

Possible that Theaters will announce advance ticket sales in order to assure sell out. Once this has been achieved then market can be reassessed to determine if home viewing is viable. Living 250 miles from the nearest theater that would even consider showing FTW, I have been down this exact same road many times.

It has freed me, so now I know who my friends are...and more importantly who aren't..... I agree the Dead culture is an acquired taste and much left of center..... And a special thank you to the almighty great and powerful Wizard of...DA...geoknowwho... My path is mine and mine alone, your mileage may vary... T-Horse told me that if and when they offer Home PPV it's going to be by lottery too. This could be a real no hitter. If my luck is really this bad, how come I have a spam folder full of all the wealth I've inherited, sweepstakes I've won, and third world business opportunities I've been offered? If I had not procrastinated so much I would be as wealthy as Bill Gates, or even Shapiro. Then I could have acquired all the suites at both stadiums and miracle'd all the Sunshine Daydreamers with a VIP experience. My bad. Stupid Horse.
