I miss...

I miss WXRT, Chicago's Finest Rock. At one time, you could have heard any and all of these tunes in a day's mix from the old 'XRT. The Dead Hour on weekends, the Sunday-night Un-Concert. The award-winning News at Noon. Ken Nordine's Word Jazz, for goodness sakes. They played anything -- absolutely anything that was interesting. Even if it was CRAP, you didn't really care, because they never, ever played the same song twice in one day, sometimes not in the same week or month. Who cares if they played Linda Ronstadt or Spandeux Ballet, as long as they followed it with Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, Little Feat or the Cure, eh? (No disrespect to Ms. Ronstadt -- a fine set of pipes if there ever was, so sad to see her lose her voice.) I wouldn't know what the heck a Wild Tchoupitoulas was without WXRT. Then, Westinghouse bought them. Then, CBS bought them. *sigh* The worst part is that it's still the best radio station in Chicago. Great connection to local and live music, but oh, the play list gets old nowadays. Good new stuff (can 'ya say Shakey Graves?) An occasional nugget, but mostly corporate crap, played six or seven times a day. Even great new stuff, like that new Beck tune, is overplayed and old in a week. Most days I don't even bother to turn it on.

Some may worry that that was my source of paranoia - total on me. Emails are still gone and still weird...

So I know everyone is waiting out this drama with baited breath. To ensure he is on the up and up - he has suggested no cash, no pay pal, that we should just meet in SC and exchange money order for hard tickets face to face. Righteous head. Very glad I was wrong...now to convince those I was in on this with to see the light...

He doesn't want the hassle and after the decision today I had to make as to who got tix and who didn't I don't know that I blame him - that job sucked. Hard. Yeah we can wait - that was his point. Good Morning Sunshine Daydreamers

Off to local Flea Market to search out Vinyl...Last year around this time, I obtained a very nice copy of The White Album, complete with the poster and 4 color Glossy 8x10's (with no circles or arrows drawn on the back explaining what each one was) --Arlo Guthrie reference,.....anyway this was the real deal. The 8x10's of each Beatle were on real Photo paper, not the later issued xerox type pictures, and the serial number is embossed on the front cover,..in white of course, and vinyl in very good to excellent condition. So I felt overjoyed to take it home for a mere $20.00. Sometimes people are in such a hurry to clean out their attic/basement/ that I get these things for a song $1 or $2. I need a miracle everyday!!! Hope everyone is well and this fine Sunday morning finds you all in good spirit.

Happy Sunday...going to put on my go to meeting clothes.... I am so sorry, I would have posted earlier but when I woke up the letters on the keys on my keyboard were gone. Now the keys were there but the letters vanished in the air. So after some problem solving, I went to my local supermarket and bought me a box of alphabits.... After some research I glued the individual cereal bit to each respective key and we are back in business.... Wow, what I missed.... a twilight zone email episode... A pending marriage... A roaring silence, a grab of the white album...an early totes count... Ok back to the song.... You shout and no one seems to hear, and if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the DSOTM.... have a truly beatific day.... If you don't know it, look it up don't just skip over the word like I used to.... ;-)

Perfect Day

Blue skies, not a wisp of wind and forecasted to be in the mid-70's. As soon as I quaff my iced coffee it's off on a run with my trusty canine companion Kai. Although there's plenty of sails to patch and rails to shine, it looks like the office beckons today. It happens. Big event tomorrow, so rehearsal is needed. I am actually from NC and have lived here majority of my life. It's a beautiful state with Blue Ridge Mountains and incredible beaches so best of both worlds. Asheville is great and I'm near Appalachian State Univeristy. Lots of artists, musicians, forward thinkers. And too much development because of the beauty. Having said that we have high taxes and current political leaders are a bit of an embarrassment. But we're working on changing that :)Come check it out..

I would suggest you put yourself in my shoes. Paid $2600 to a guy on this site, who just joined, and the emails disappeared from my inbox (no word of a lie) - they are still gone but subsequent emails are still there. This happened right after one of the individuals questioned whether this whole deal was legit. I went numb and started shaking. Buddy gave the money right back and is willing to give the tickets face to face for a money order - doesn't want to be walking around with a wad of cash - don't blame him. Nor does he want to be walking around with 12 tickets and a sign in SC - again don't blame him. So pass judgement all you want - I was trying to help; AND the one taking all the risk. If you were in my shoes, you would have panicked too. For the guy who decided to send me a PM telling me in more polite terms to f-off, sure man. My recklessness was not trying to put people in financial ruin, but rather help out as many as I could. That included me forgoing shows to get others in...so thanks for the judge, jury and execution all in one shot.

I love it as well....if you ever get a chance see her...she does play Asheville.... unfortunately no Merriweather for me... promised the better half I'd obsess over Chicago and then I'm out... Been brainwashed by the dead since 73.....at times to family detriment... After 7/6/15 Gonna hang up my travelin shoes.... And live on memories, hopefully the best will be us strangers having become friends on the path to Chicago.... repeat after me....I'm a deadhead... And I miss Jerry....

This is the great summer for soothing my soul with music...the Chicago shows and the grand adventure getting there has been the focus of my world of late. It is a blessing and I've never been as grateful to be on the bus. I miss Jerry soooo much.
