Interview: Bill Kreutzmann & Bob Bralove talk about Infrared Roses.
Bob Bralove joined the Grateful Dead's technical team in 1987. A fine musician in his own right (his most recent release, Stories in Black and White, is a collection of solo piano improvisations), Bob served as the band's computer-music expert, assisting all the players with their digital sound libraries so Jerry could play the "trumpet" or the "bassoon" onstage, etc. He worked onstage at every Dead show, assisting all the players with their digital sounds, and sometimes participated in the performance from his unseen spot behind the drummers. On the Terrapin Station) Limited Edition CD, Bralove is credited (along with Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann) on the cleverly-titled "And," which falls between "Drums" and "space."
This interview celebrated the release of Infrared Roses, a collection of pieces Bralove derived from recordings of the Dead's "Drums" and "space" improvisations. The full transcript is posted here.
