    AXS pre-order
hey now, folks! heres to hoping everyone is where they want/supposed, to be come this 4th of july weekend...i want to be in chicago, and will be trying to make it work. as i have read with many others comments, i too, have found the whole pre-order, with AXS, quite confusing! so i sent an email, through two separate threads, to AXS....and this is the reply i received today...same reply to both emails, on both threads..... AXS Guest Services, Jan 25, 9:33 PM: Hi there, Thanks for contacting AXS! We hope you're excited for Grateful Dead at Soldier Field on July 3rd, 4th and 5th ! The presale begins on February 12th at 10am CT. Here are some frequently asked questions: Q: How do I participate in the presale? A: Presale tickets go on sale via www.dead.net and www.axs.com/dead50 Q: How do I pre-register? A: Visit www.axs.com/dead50 to register and create your account. Q: Is there a required password for purchase? A: No Q: Does pre-register automatically get me tickets? A: No, you are simply creating an account and will have a chance to purchase when the tickets become available via the Dead Presale on February 12 at 10am CT Q: What are the ticket prices and where can I find the seating map? A: TBD Q: What is the waiting room? A: All sales via axs.com/dead50 will be directed through our “virtual waiting room”. The waiting room will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the presale. From the time the waiting room opens until the start of the on sale, we actively filter brokers, scalpers, and other nefarious actors so that we can give actual people the best chance to purchase. When the event goes on sale, users will be randomly selected to enter the purchase flow. The waiting room automatically refreshes – no need to refresh while you wait. You can sign-in to your account while you wait. PLEASE NOTE: a place in the waiting room does not guarantee the availability of tickets. Q: What types of payment are accepted? A: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are accepted. Debit cards and gift cards are also accepted – so long as they have a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or AmericanExpress logo. Q: What is the ticket limit? A: TBD Q: If I am able to buy tickets via the presale, then when and how will I get the tickets/ A: All presale tickets will be sent via US Mail approximately 4-6 weeks from the date of the event. You will receive a physical ticket – no electronic delivery is available via the presale. Q: Will accessible tickets be available during the presale? A: TBD Q: What if I am unable to buy tickets during the presale? A: Tickets will also be available on February 14th at 10am CT via www.ticketmaster.com Q: Can I purchase presale tickets over the phone? A: No, the presale is online only. Note: VIP and Travel Package options are also available, please visit www.cidentertainment.com/events/gratefuldead50 Thanks for your patience as we confirm all the details! Have a great day! AXS Team All access, all the time. http://AXS.com Follow us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/AXS Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/AXS the question i sent them, asked about this promotion code ive read about, and also most confusing to me, the 'waiting room' thing....it seems here, these are the answers...at least at this point! hope this helps, it does clear up a few questions...we will see! good luck folks! nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile!

    Its for us...
I understand the frustrations... I would say to anyone looking for rooms to check out condo rentals on flipkey, VRBO, and homeaway. There are still a few reasonable apt/condo rentals that are below $200/night. Thats how I beat the crazy prices. Got a tiny little studio today off the L line for about 130/night. If you spend the time, you can find a way. This isn't the Grateful Dead and I get that. Obviously, calling it a dead show is just marketing as the boys surely feel an obligation to do the shows for the 50th anniversary. I'm sure the price is right and the last show in Chicago is a perfect ending. They make a big buck while giving the fans some closure and an opportunity to all gather once more. I guess from how I see it, by calling it the Grateful Dead, they have raised the flags to call us home. One more Saturday night! Its not Further, Ratdog, Other Ones... What is left of the Dead will come together to play the songs we know and love. You will NEVER see a show like this again, ever! Never. (unless of course they decide to play a couple more shows later in the summer ;) I respect those who want to stay away because of the circus this has caused. I respect that they wanted to do the old school style of ticket ordering. Problem is, not many of us are old school anymore. Folks who were on the ball have a shot at getting the mail order tickets. Folks who have 4 computers set up with different usernames have a shot at getting pre-sale tickets. If you're not doing that, just know thats what you're up against with the majority of folks trying to score a tix. I don't blame you for not liking it BUT it is the world we live in. I was checking out Chicago's craigslist yesterday and I already found scalpers selling tickets to all 3 shows. Some were going well over 1600 bucks a pop! How did they do it?? Lets say they sent in 1000 mail order requests, each for 4 tickets to all 3 shows. Even if they have a 30% success rate, they will still get 1200 tickets. Lets say they are split between the premium ($215) and general ($95) so roughly an average ticket price of $150. They have 1200 tickets that cost them $150 bucks each, (total cost of $180k) but they turn around and sell the tickets for $750 each, (on average) with a total gross of $900k. I have no doubt they will sell out their quantity because there are too many folks willing to pay what it takes to get in. Thats how you make a mill off of some deadheads Myself... I've made a promise. If I don't get the mail orders or pre-sale... It wasn't meant to be. I'll just wait for the tape uploads and sit back on my back porch with some cold brews. I've already paid what I feel is my max to see this show. Hope we all get the tickets we need. Its going to be one hell of a celebration!!

Has anyone heard anything re PPV? With FTW right around the corner, you'd think they'd want to promote it via the satellite and cable providers? Could it be Shapiro is hitting a business snag on one money-grab he can't leverage?

This doesn't hurt the scalper it only hurts the end user that made plans to drive or fly across the country before the show. The scalper will still sell his tickets. If I don't receive my Chicago tix before I leave for SC I am not sure what I am going to do.

I received the same email confirmation today from ticketmaster. My Santa Clara tickets arrived last Wednesday, five days prior to the email. More like Communication Breakdown. I feel the breeze picking up as people receive their Chicago tickets and let out a collective sigh of relief.

I ordered the webcast just in case there would not be a ppv. No info on ppv yet but if it is going to happen I will cancel the webcast. Called Comcast couple weeks ago and the guy had no news but said check back around the 21st. That's when he said they get the new ppv schedule. I got the MLB . Com email today too. Thinking it's because I ordered the webcast. It had instructions on what to do. Grateful Dead forever!!

This ticket marketing is getting me down. What will be the next surprise announcement from the executives. I know the shows are going to be great & will be with all of you one last time BUT there will be a shadow of corporate greed over us this time. Sad we have come down to this VIP- ultra marketing.

UPS next day air envelope with am delivery with ticket master tix just arrived. should have just elected regular mail, but was being cautious. Anyone "connected" to the family/staging company have any word if the back and sides of the stage will be open? Quite sure it is not a 360 degree arrangement, but curious if an effort was made to add any sight lines? Some of my best shows were side and behind the stage on Jerry's side. Have had awesome views of Jerry and Brent, Jerry and Bruce, Jerry and Branford, etc. going back and forth and Jerry looking right at us when he came back to his stack for a smoke after every song.

I too am "patiently" awaiting more info on the cable TV PPV. It seems to me that this info has been very slow in coming. I have contacted my local cable Comcast branch a couple times with very little info or resolution on when I can order it. I also have contacted iNDEMAND, the source PPV company that offers the service to all cable and sat companies. They were very kind and helpful and assured me that all local branches will definitely be offering this PPV. They just could not give me an actual date. If I was trying to cash in on a PPV, I know that I would offer it in advance and would advertise; I have seen none of either.

Blessed to just be in ear shot of the sweet music but been wondering how the stage will truly go down. Shapiro did say all the speakers/screens will be directly behind the open stage. Everyone have a safe and blessed trip to both shows. Can't wait!!!

My guess about the PPV "debacle" (I have grown to like that word), is that MLB.com has the initial rights to all sales of this PPV event until a certain date has passed (so that they can bleed as many 'heads as they can before it is made available to the cable companies). More concert politics. I would even go as far as saying there is a gag order placed upon them to not discuss it with ANYONE until, let's say, a week before the first event. So approx. June 20 we should see something (if they are offering it all). Now we have yet another limbo, and more CONJECTURE (like we need more of that!) PPV LIMBO! OHHHHH YYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!

I am envious of everyone getting tickets in their mail boxes. I have to wait until I get to Chicago to get mine. I have this recurring nightmare that I'll get to Chicago and the office will be like, "Good day Mr. Totem, those are fine pair of Dancing Bear Crocs your are wearing today. Umm, sorry Mr. Totem, we can't seem to find your tickets. The envelope is empty. Sorry, but we have no additional tickets available. Can we offer you a matching dancing bear lanyard and refund?" Those suckers better be locked up in a vault with guards armed with LSD super soakers!

I am hoping to help out our Dead family by providing someone with the experience of a lifetime. I have 2 tickets to each of the Santa Clara shows that I purchased through the lottery system. I am unable to go because I recently had surgery. I hope that I can be the "miracle every day" for some true fan. Please let me know if you are interested. ~peacefulkats

SiriusXM will be broadcasting the Chicago shows, just no video. www.siriusxm.com/gratefuldead We've got XM in the car and online for our computer, which has its audio output going to the stereo. This is where we'll be doing the Chicago shows. Still waiting for our secondary market Santa Clara tickets (Stubhub). Having been shutout of every other offering, those of us with secondary market purchases have to wait for tickets to be shipped and then reshipped to us! We're hoping they make it before we have to leave for Santa Clara. At least we're driving from Los Angeles and could leave in the late AM on Sat 6/27. Hoping to make a Friday departure though. See you in the 400's at Santa Clara!
