I'm so happy too!!!

I agree, it is a lot a money but TOTALLY WORTH IT! Especially for me since I am someone who is too young to have seen them play together. This is my first chance to see them all in their amazing glory. Keeping my fingers crossed that the Hubby will say yes!! He wasn't too happy when I told him the ticket prices so we will see how toinights conversation goes. :P

Don't live life with regret.

Money may be tight, ticket prices may be high but I'm so happy to see another show!!! Southerntam I'm still excited as the day I found out. I paid $100 to see the Allman brothers and won't do that again but the Dead, any ticket is a good ticket.

Okay southerntam, I shall think positive. Our nosebleed seats probably won't be so bad because we will be able to move pretty far up due to the fact that these venues will be half full. How's that for optimism!? I never thought in a million years that I would be disappointed about a Dead show, but I do feel partly disappointed. Good for anyone that can afford these floor prices, but I certainly cannot. I repeat the earlier sentiments about the $30 DSO shows. I am so, so sad right now.

Ticket Prices

As for me, I decided I was okay with buying a ticket to a show, one show, regardless of the price. It'll cost me about the same as what all the Grateful Dead tickets cost me when I was going to shows between '76-'84, when you consider what I made an hour then v. now and what the tickets went for then v. now. They may not be the Good Ol' Grateful Dead, but they are the best Dead you'll ever see now. Live music isn't cheap. It never really has been and that's why it's a special night when you can go out and hear your favorite bands play out. Times are tough though and I realize a lot of folks who were hoping to go to a show or two on this tour will have to to think twice about it. I'm only going to one and that's mainly due to the fact that it does cost more money than before and that I need to work extra hard right now to keep up with expenses. But don't blame the band for going for the kind of money that other classic rock and jazz bands have been making for most of the past 10-15 years. It costs a lot to produce an arena tour and any band that takes on this kind of an enterprise will charge as much as it takes to recoup their expenses and to make the kind of money they feel they can reasonably make, given the market If you can go and you want to, make it happen. Time to search under the couch cushions!!

I was so excited about hitting the Greensboro show, already had the hotel booked and everything (for cheaper than the ticket I might add). Now I don't have enought mone to buy the actual ticket! I am really going to have to sweet talk my husbind on this one. I know it will be worth the money, but coming up with the extra money is the problem. I'm sad that the economy has led everyone to having to put a second mortgage on their homes to see some shows, LOL!! I wish everyone the best of luck getting your tickets!! Wow, I'm sincerely amazed...

Starting to feel like I'm the only happy one around here today...where's the love? We all started this thread so happy and excited and now it's turned to negativity because of ticket prices. Really....is this how we're going to do it? I, for one, am still excited and if I have to sit further back because I can't afford front row floor seats, then that's how it has to be and I"ll be just as happy - because I'm there. Again, let's think positive!!!!!

What a buzz kill

I was hoping to hit 2 or 3 shows, despite the strain that such a trip would put on my already overtaxed budget. But $100 a show? Who are they kidding? Now, I'm no fool - I understand the economic realities of putting on a show. It's not the '90s anymore, let alone the '60s. But as others have pointed out, many bands seem to be able to play similar venues at much lower prices. Anyway, I'll be taking a pass this year. Thanks for the memories boys, and do let me know if you're ever interested in playing for the average fan instead of the wealthy elite.

Ticket Prices

I can see paying $102.00 for good seats on the tour. From what I see I can wind up in nosebleed seats for that price. I looked,the $59.00 seating is behind stage. Most shows I go to have a mid-ground price. I was to try & go to a few show's but now I can only do one. Hey, Bobby & or Phil if you read this. How about a free ticket. Only kidding. Well Maybe.

I just received my tickets for the Izod Center through GDTS TOO. I paid the price on their website when mail order went out but when I recently checked back the price had gone up from $53 face value to $94 face value. I got upper level tickets. I obviously wanted floor tickets. Has this happened to anyone else with GDTS TOO? Never the less, I am still very grateful for getting tickets at all! Thanks, Julia

Hey Alicina, thanks for the footage! It sounds very promising: Warren's playing is suitable melodic. I remember enjoying him at a few ABB shows and Guv't Mule. I like how the Dead's material gets him out of the straight ahead blues into more improvisation - nice ES335 too. The organ sounds great and even the singing is pretty good - go Phil! Love the harmonies. Nice wiggly camera during St.Stephen. Fun! Thanks.

The Gorge Mail Order

Has anyone heard (or received email) notifications about mail order fulfillment for the Gorge? I haven't heard anything about fulfillment and am working on some travel plans but don't want to make any decisions until the tickets are in hand. Thanks and long live the Dead.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind words and prayers. Little Cassidy is home now and doing much better!! You guys are awesome,Thanks again! On a lighter note- I recently moved and the dude who moved out said I could have all the crap in the basement, and among this crap was a bunch of old stereo equiptment-including some nice stuff like Bose speakers and some nice Pioneer tape decks and stuff. So naturally this sparked my interest in all my old Dead tapes(I have a shit-load as im sure alot of you do) anyway,To make a long story longer, I hooked up a bunch of this stuff and dug out my old tapes(oh yeah, on a side note, I plugged in an old CD deck and hit "open" and what was in the deck?-Grateful Dead/So many roads/Disc 3- Call it fate/nice score!) Anyhoo-I was all excited to go through my tapes and pick out some nice old nuggets only to discover that most of my tapes sound like garbage! :-( (muffled,hissy and just plain yucky!!) So, what I want to know is- Does anyone know how I would go about converting my old tapes into crisp,clear listenable(?) CD's??? Is that even possible? Somebody must do it! Those tapes bring back lots of smiles- Id love to hear them again!!!--Once again, Thanks everyone for the good vibes my little angel recieved-Means alot to me-G ♪♪:-)♪♪

Why don't you venture into the Vineyard, where tons of stuff is available. I completely disposed of my cassettes and now have a load of shows that are all digital. The people are all friendly and there are lots of non-dead stuff available too. While it may seem a bit confusing at first, once you get the hang of it, it is great. Second, GratefulTwinz, I'm glad to hear the little one is better as well, I have 2 little ones and it's so heartbreakign when they're sick. ANd last but not least, I picked up my first "for fun" read since graduate school - it's Phil's book Searching for the Sound and let me tell you, I"m loving it! I'm so excited for the upcoming shows, and just giddy all around. Anyway, just had to share my happy thoughts with my fellow friends here. I went out to the parking lot this morning and somebody had stuck one long stemmed red rose into the snow in front of my car. I'll take it as a sign of good things to come very soon! Getting to the Gorge

I am thinking about surprising my hubby and adding the Gorge onto our list of shows to see this tour since it falls on our anniversary. Would be a sweet and memorable gift. We would be flying in from the East coast. At the risk of sounding clueless - is Seattle the best hub to use? Any info on where to stay or other things to do while there would be terrific. (also thinking about renting an RV... Cheers:)

Worcester lots?

I am also interested in any information about lots near DCU. I'm driving up from New Jersey for the 4/18 show and would really like to revel in a full-day experience. Looking on the DCU Center website is making me worry that it is all garage (not tailgate friendly) parking.
