And always at least 100 degrees or hotter lol! I remember the first year I got really sunburned, although I didn't feel it until I got home. But yes they were extremely hot, but when that tropical rain came in 93, it was awesome! And my little honda had an engine problem so I had to drive home with the heater on so that my engine wouldn't overheat...Good times, good people!

Not a silly statement at all, I totally relate to what you say. I get chills walking down this memory lane! It is fun reminiscing! I also remember it being almost unbearably hot!! Everyone crowding under those fountains. That reminds me - we saw Jerry Seinfeld at one of those shows. The coolest thing about all of this - I have been in touch with some of my longtime touring friends from around the country and we are trying to reunite for some of these shows. Awesome! Didn't mean to freak you out.....but that's the vibe I'm gettin'. Keep in mind Phil is 69 this year. No P&F summer tour and there IS a RatDog summer tour, from what I understand....If I were you, I'd do my best to hit a couple of THESE shows (just in case - ya can't be too careful!!) ;) ~ Pappy http://www.theCAUSEjams.com "Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places, if you look at it right." - Robert Hunter

I made it to 92, my first show, only had tickets for Sat and was miracled in on Fri and Sunday. Slept (not really ;o) in the back of my 83 Honda civic behind some random strip mall. It was awesome, first time I had been to anything like that before and I fell in love. I've often said this before, but even though I was fairly young, I just felt at home in the parking lot, like big ole arms opening up and hugging me. Silly I know, but that's just the way it made me feel. I was back the following year (93) for a bitchen show, I can still remember the thunder and lightening cracking while Bobby was singing Looks Like Rain. Get chills thinking about it! p.s. I love your reference to Loser...one of my all time fav's!

Those Vegas show were the bomb!! I was there in 91, 93 and 94 (not sure why I missed 92) and each time we had no hotel and we pretty much didn't sleep - LSD works good for that! But anyways one night we had to sleep so we snuck into the pool area at the Frontier and slept on the pool lounge chairs, woke up the next day about 9am to find the entire pool and every chair occupied by the hotel guests - people with their families, little kids, the works. We had to look like total bums laying there asleep in all our clothes! I still can't believe we didn't get arrested. Not to mention my buddy trying to bet his tickets at the blackjack table. Oh man! Thanks for jogging my memory of those Vegas shows! "Everybody's braggin' and drinking that wine, I can tell the queen of diamonds by the way she shines. Granted I only got a few shows in before Jerry died, but those times will be with me forever. Being 17 and driving out to Vegas with no money, no hotel reservations, no responsibility and a crap load of beer to sell in the parking lot. Sleeping in the car with old friends, new friendss, then driving 6 hours home to San Diego after the Sunday show - all in time to make it to school Monday morning. I wish I had more years to follow the boys, but I'm grateful for the shows I was able to make and will always be thankful it was in time to see Jerry. I love hearing all the tour stories from HEads older than I am, always puts a smile on my face! Once again, I can't wait for May!!!

If you think about it the uncertainty of it all is what made touring with the Grateful Dead such a thrill. Obviously we are all older now and probably (hopefully) better off than we were 20 years ago and with that I think comes the sense that uncertainty makes us uneasy. It's kind of too bad you know because I'll never forget the adventure of loading into a junker automobile with little to no money, gas, food and tickets (fully aware the shows you were driving to were sold out). We would drive 1200 miles to Cali, sleep in the car and somehow some way make it into at least a few shows and more amazingly make it 1200 miles back home (one year our car was in such bad shape we had to drive 25 mph the whole way home). I'll never forget those times and those memories are what make the Dead all the more special. More than just a band. I live in Pittsburgh, PA. I am a father of 3 and I work 60+ hours a week. After seeing the magic happen at Penn State, I am doing EVERYTHING I can to make 5 shows happen. If you want it, you gotta go get it. I am hitting GREENSBORO (8+ hours drive), MSG (either 7 hours drive, or I may have to FLY to get there), BOTH Philly shows (6 hours drive) and haven't decided between Chicago (would have to FLY) or Buffalo (4+ hours drive). I am not "loaded". I know I don't have the cash so readily available. But I am going to do everything I can to make it happen. This is IT, in my opinion. I cannot imagine these guys doing another tour of this magnitude after this one. So, (in the immortal words of Badfinger) if you want it - here it is, come and get it, make your mind up fast - you'd better hurry 'cause it's going fast. (just apropo, I thought - not the greatest song in the world and has no GD reference, but wtf, I'm rambling!) ~ Pappy http://www.theCAUSEjams.com "Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places, if you look at it right." - Robert Hunter

I just received my tickets for the Izod Center through GDTS TOO. I paid the price on their website when mail order went out but when I recently checked back the price had gone up from $53 face value to $94 face value. I got upper level tickets. I obviously wanted floor tickets. Has this happened to anyone else with GDTS TOO? Never the less, I am still very grateful for getting tickets at all! Thanks, Julia

Hey folks! I just posted my video from Roseland ballroom on Youtube. It is pretty good- I was in the first row! It is only a 10 minute compilation, but it's pretty cool. Check it out and message me to let me know if you liked it!!! That would make me so happy! xoxo alicina http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ur5_y3--d8E

Hey Alicina, thanks for the footage! It sounds very promising: Warren's playing is suitable melodic. I remember enjoying him at a few ABB shows and Guv't Mule. I like how the Dead's material gets him out of the straight ahead blues into more improvisation - nice ES335 too. The organ sounds great and even the singing is pretty good - go Phil! Love the harmonies. Nice wiggly camera during St.Stephen. Fun! Thanks.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your kind words and prayers. Little Cassidy is home now and doing much better!! You guys are awesome,Thanks again! On a lighter note- I recently moved and the dude who moved out said I could have all the crap in the basement, and among this crap was a bunch of old stereo equiptment-including some nice stuff like Bose speakers and some nice Pioneer tape decks and stuff. So naturally this sparked my interest in all my old Dead tapes(I have a shit-load as im sure alot of you do) anyway,To make a long story longer, I hooked up a bunch of this stuff and dug out my old tapes(oh yeah, on a side note, I plugged in an old CD deck and hit "open" and what was in the deck?-Grateful Dead/So many roads/Disc 3- Call it fate/nice score!) Anyhoo-I was all excited to go through my tapes and pick out some nice old nuggets only to discover that most of my tapes sound like garbage! :-( (muffled, hissy and just plain yucky!!) So, what I want to know is- Does anyone know how I would go about converting my old tapes into crisp, clear listenable(?) CD's??? Is that even possible? Somebody must do it! Those tapes bring back lots of smiles- Id love to hear them again!!!--Once again, Thanks everyone for the good vibes my little angel recieved-Means alot to me-G ♪♪:-)♪♪

Why don't you venture into the Vineyard, where tons of stuff is available. I completely disposed of my cassettes and now have a load of shows that are all digital. The people are all friendly and there are lots of non-dead stuff available too. While it may seem a bit confusing at first, once you get the hang of it, it is great. I think there is an explanation on how it works in the topic "New Vines 2009." Hope to see you in there. "One watch by night, one watch by day If you get confused, listen to the music play"

Here is an clip from my latest GDTS TOO update on 4/1/09: Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Shoreline Amphitheatre In Mountain View, CA. We will process this show the next couple of weeks. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at The Gorge in Quincy, WA with special guest Allman Brothers Band and The Doobie Brothers. We will processes this show in the next couple of weeks. They have already sent my ticket for Denver and my 1st Shoreline both of which are incredible seats!!! Gratefultwinz I am glad to hear your lil' one is doing better! It is a sad thing when my grandkids get sick. My youngest one just lost her first tooth - she is just too proud to show it to you - LOL! I luvs munchkins with all my heart and soul - I luv to spoil them too! AHH YES the joys of bein' a grandparent! Grandchildren and Grandparents we have a common enemy - LOL! I am working on getting my self well today - I tried going back to work yesterday which did not go very well. I unexpectedly sat down - only because there was a chair available, other wise I would have hit the floor. I'm not able to eat much which means I've got low blood sugars. I am still tryin' to adjust my insulin shots - the pharmacist suggested I drink pedialyte - nasty stuff no wonder kids don't like it. Thankfully no more problems with my heart or the turbo squirts. yeah like you folks really wanna hear all the details. Peace and positive vibes to each of you.... We're gonna pitch a ball Down to the union hall We're gonna romp and stomp till midnight We're gonna fuss and fight till daylight We're gonna pitch a wang dang doodle all night long Shine On! I'm so excited for the upcoming shows, and just giddy all around. Anyway, just had to share my happy thoughts with my fellow friends here. I have come to think of this site as a home away from home with so many friends and interesting stories on every page. Okay enough rambling, have a grate day everyone! Can't wait for MAY!!!! ~Tam

I am thinking about surprising my hubby and adding the Gorge onto our list of shows to see this tour since it falls on our anniversary. Would be a sweet and memorable gift. We would be flying in from the East coast. At the risk of sounding clueless - is Seattle the best hub to use? Any info on where to stay or other things to do while there would be terrific. (also thinking about renting an RV... Cheers:)

It would be cool if they hung them all out in the hallways for all to see!:-) P.S. Bob Weir, If your reading this please play Cassidy/Deal sunday night. Thank-you,George

I am also interested in any information about lots near DCU. I'm driving up from New Jersey for the 4/18 show and would really like to revel in a full-day experience. Looking on the DCU Center website is making me worry that it is all garage (not tailgate friendly) parking. Twinz, if I find anything out about the pre-show/lot situation I'll be sure to share the word on this board. See you in Worcester. Peace
