It's the 30th anniversary of this show, so I slapped it in the player. I suggest folks do the same, if only to hear Bobby explain that Phil had been taken by aliens during the intermission! Playing it right now, and its awsome. kinda resembles the early 70's shows, most of the shows are jamed out like 15 min or more. Minus jerrys singing you couldnt ask for more, it seems to be more crisp and with more energy than the last dead shows in the 90's. If its any sign of whats to be with this tour, than the music will be great. It would be cool if they did like DSO does and pick a past set list and play it, preferably from 73' since there tended to be alot of shows with 3 sets. I wasnt happy about the prices either but you wont regret it when your at the show, from now untill april is plenty of time to adjust your life style and be able to put some money back. Quit going out to eat, dont buy name brand food, hault all purchases besides bills, theres countless ways of coming up with the money. Think about the last thing you really needed or wanted but didnt really have the money to get it but you managed to aquire it. Most things are possible if you got enough gumption.

All this comparison to other bands and price talk " They are not the best at what they do they are the only ones that do what they do" IMO while the "core four" have slipped somewaht recently their is NO denying that the product they deliver is awe inspiring. Case in point dating back to Bobby and Tom C at tower theater shortly after jerry passed, too SPAC july 4th in the rain, red rocks shows 03 and 04, little schoolgirl in AZ 04, Shoreline to end the 04 tour. AND yes i saw "jerry" over 75 times ...if you cup is empty... if your cup is full may it be again

Five Simple Ways to Save Yourself Hundreds of Dollars a Month
If you really can't afford $100 then try the following. You have a few months to save! 1. Cash back at the pump In the past five months gasoline prices have dropped 56%, from an average price of $4.11 to $1.80 a gallon. Somehow, households found the money to pay the higher price and survive so now people should take that excess money they are saving and bank it. 2. Supper savings Americans will spend an average of $34 this year every time they go out to eat dinner, that's for one dinner, drink and gratuity; $76.00 if they live in one of the 20 most expensive cities. If a couple does that four times in a month the expense is close to $300 in low-cost areas and $600 in higher-cost regions, and if you have more than one drink or are treating family or friends, costs can add up quickly. 3. Renegotiate bills You may not be able to negotiate with the gas company or the electric company, but you can with credit cards, cable and phone services, among others. Do the homework and find out what competing cable companies, for example, are offering and ask your provider to renegotiate your bill. You may have to get through to a manager but Chatzky said she recently did this and got her monthly bill reduced by $50. 4. Smart shopping Retailers are poised to have one of the worst holiday shopping seasons in decades and are offering deep discounts to move merchandise. But smart shoppers can save even more money by hunting down coupons. Before ordering online or going to a store, go to sites like Couponcabin.com and Ultimatecoupons.com or Google the name of a store and often you'll get a coupon code to enter at checkout. You can save 10% to 20% or more on the total order or maybe get free shipping. There are also coupons to print out and take to the store for deeper discounts. And don't be afraid to pit one retailer against another by asking for a price match on sale items. 5. Keep the receipt It is important to hang on to all your store receipts and keep track of sales. Savvy shoppers can possibly save even more on purchases by checking back to see if the retailers lower prices even further. If that happens within two weeks of your purchase, most stores will credit you the difference. see you at the philadelphia spectrum may 2nd

Spring may not work out but the fact they're out there gives me hope for humanity. My 1st show was St.Louis in 1970, and even though I will try Chicago, if I don't make it I'll be grateful for all those who do. I mean, they're so many DH's that haven't ever seen the boys, so if my missed seat goes to one of those folks, I'll be dancin' just because of that. Let's all have a grate time, celebrate in joy & love...and Summer at Alpine, please. Steve

I'm sure there will be a few extra Bay Area shows added to the end of the schedule but it would be marvelous to have a European tour in summer. Some of us can't get visas to visit the US due to past glories on the GD lot. The guys will be settled in with each other by then so it would be a fun time for them and insirational too! :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Are you kind?"

All I know is that when I read this morning, I literally jumped up & down !!! I'm gonna plan on Chicago , LA & Mountain View Shows , I want to be at the last show of the tour. In 2004 I went all over to see them and the best was in George Was. @ the Gorge with the ABB , it was excellent. I just can't say how excited I am for this, that just made my Year for 2009, everything else comes second. Can Not WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna allow myself to become a kid again for a few nights and come join the party - 5 nights is what I think I can swing!! You guys are the best........I can't believe I was actually crying at my keyboard this morning. I'll be feeling extra love everytime I pick up my guitar and play. I'll be smiling for months. That video is what made me cry.... And speaking of that video - the boys sure have put out a few things with WONDERFUL shots & sounds from that Obama night.....DO I SMELL AN OFFICIAL DVD RELEASE COMING SOON?????? OOOOOOOOOOOO PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?!?!?!??!!!! I was there and it was SUCH a magical evening....the sounds & sights they've released SO far from that night prove me right. I've heard the 'naysayers' say....it was feh, or whatever. SORRY - I've studied the music for far too long and have been playing it myself for over 20 years. They were listening SO intently to each other that night & played SO well with each other....that St. Stephen...The Other One...Help/Slip....PHEEEEEFREAKINOMINAL!!! ~ Pappy http://www.theCAUSEjams.com "Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places, if you look at it right." - Robert Hunter

...say, someplace that's within a few hours drive to a Dead show. Some of you 'heads have like six shows within an easy drive. I'm looking at eight hours to Greensboro, or 5-1/2 hours to Chicago (and that's driving all the way through Chicago, brrrrrr) Fingers crossed for a festival tour, I could tolerate the Manchester fuzz if the boys play Bonnaroo. Strap a retread to my feet. Just like the old days a nice little Spring northeast tour. Good to see the guys touring together again with Warren. Been truckin' to shows since "77 and, the last tour with Warren (check out 8/01/04 Saratoga Springs NY Jerry's birthday) was as close as you can get....to Jerry. Peace and Love. If you get confused listen to the music play. "Oh if a man tried To take his time on earth And prove before he died What one man's life could be worth I wonder what would happen To this world."

from post-Jerry shows, seeing only Phil & Friends twice since the Capt. left us. One show was great, the other so-so. However, I will take the plunge seeing as how the Boys seem genuinely psyched about getting back together, and Warren Haynes is an excellent choice (accepting that no one can or will ever replace JG in my eyes). So, its off to the Nassau Coliseum and MSG, just like the old days!!! "Let there be songs to fill the air."

Except for a few lucky folks it looks like they are only playing one night at each venue. In 2003 and 2004 they sold out Red Rocks 5 nights. Pepsi Center only holds about twice what Red Rocks holds. It just seems like they could play at least 2 nights at the Pepsi Center, but hey I am not complaining (well a little). Can't wait though, maybe we can get out to Cali. Last time I saw the Grateful Dead at Shoreline was in 1989. Man that would be crazy to get back out there. Actually I saw them in 91 there too or was it 92? Aye aye aye! Happy New Years my Deadhead sisters and brothers hope to see you this spring!! "I can tell the queen of diamonds by the way she shines. I'm so excited to get out and see the boys again, it's been far too long! I tried to get up to SAn Fran for New YEars, but unfortunately the finances wouldn't allow it, but look out Los Angeles her I come!!! Wish they were coming to San DIego again...the venue down here is soooo much better than the Forum, but hey at least it's only a 2 hour drive away. And to top it off it's a Saturday night!!!! I can't wait, I'm giddy with excitement. Time to break out my dancing skirts! Take care everyone and hope see you all this Spring!

Actually we saw them 2 shows over this New Years (Pepsi Center, Dec 30th and 31st) and let me tell you Jimmy was on fire those nights. Mind blowing! I highly suggest finding those shows and downloading them. "I can tell the queen of diamonds by the way she shines. Come to daddy on an inside straight, well I've got no chance of losing this time"

This is the best way to start 2009!!!!Wish they were playing at Red Rocks, but then, maybe that will be a summer surprise. I went to the Ratdog & ABB show at Red Rocks this summer, and remembered how much I miss the band. When Jerry first passed, I couldn't imagine ever going to a show without him - so I haven't been to see The Dead since - I'm way past ready!

...to rest up after the last shows in Cali (although I'm guessing some Cali shows will get added), then they'll be off to Bonnaroo to start off the Festival Season - they'll hit all the ones that Phil&friends and Ratdog and Mickey + whoever have done for the last few years. At least that's what I'm hoping (although Bonnaroo is more of a hassle than it's worth, anymore. Big ol' corporate mall). All those shows in the northeast, they've basically ignored the southeast, and Chicago is the only Midwest show. Denver, then a couple for the Left Coast. If I can't pull off a trip to Chicago I guess I'll be missing this tour, Greensboro's 500 miles away and I don't see being able to afford it. ********************************************* I have a sigfile! --> www.kindveggieburritos.com *********************************************
