    Mix
Listened to KFOG replay and the mix had Trey so out front I couldn't hear the rest of the band. Could just be the radio replay, but I wanna hear Phil, Bobby and the rest of the band. Can't wait to see it at the movie theater on Friday (and maybe Saturday and Sunday)

Fare Thee Well Grateful Dead, Pt. 2
Watch 'em knock 'em dead in Chicago. I must've gone to at least 100 shows. The first one was in 1966 in the Golden Gate Park Panhandle, or the Furthur Fesival at San Francisco State College, whichever was first. I actually felt like Phil was addressing me personally when he made his speech at the end and thanked everyone for coming out, because I tried to get tickets to as many Phil Lesh and Friends at Terrapin Crossroads shows as I could. He came up to me there and let me say, "Hi," which rock stars don't have to do. However I couldn't afford to follow Bobby around like I used to, and he always lets me know, which is flattering that he invited me. He sang a song about losing money, which is true. He sang some other songs which might have been directed at me, and I instinctively responded by singing along. Then, at the beginning of the last song, "Fare Thee Well, My Honey", "Brokedown Palace", I thought he was like, he wanted me to sing along, so I did, and then he ended it abruptly, got in line with their arms on their shoulders, did their bow, and it was over, but I'm planning to see the live stream of all 3 Chicago shows at Terrapin Crossroads. When I went to UCI in 1987, my dad gave me $100,000/year, an apartment in grad student housing, a car, and a bunch of credit cards on his account. They tracked me into the Information and Computer Science major. Then he came down and took some of the credit cards back, and my sister took all 6 of my Irvine Meadows Grateful Dead tickets. Like William Burroughs wrote, "When did they ever give anything that they didn't take back if they could, and they always could!" and he went to Harvard. I went out and bought 6 more, at the inflated price of $50, for $300, and canceled the aftershow party at my apartmnent I'd posted on the Well. Because of losing the credit cards, I got a bad grade and had to go to CSUB. Laurie Senit moved in, and life was pretty good. We lived across from the campus in an apartment complex with 4 swimming pools and 4 jacuzzis, the 2nd best in town. My parents bought me a brand-new Toyota Tercel. Then my mom said, "We're going to send the two of you to Hawaii. Pick out a hotel from this brochure." I picked the Big Island because I'd been to Maui, and the Kona Hilton because the Dead liked Hiltons. In nearby Paradise Cove the scuba boat captain claimed he was on a first-name basis with Jerry. When Jerry died the Rolling Stone article said his house was in Kona, which I didn't know, and gave the name of his dive shop. I called information and the dive shop, they said it was across the street from the Kona Hilton, and Jerry probably did used to go scuba diving at Paradise Cove. They were showing videos of him scuba diving tonight. That's why I wanted to do it, but I had to do it straight, not being a rock star. I proposed to Laurie on the beach in Kona. We stopped at my parents' house in San Francisco on our way home. My dad, James Abrahamson, had 3 restaurants, Pam Pam East on Geary and Taylor, Rosebud's English Pub next door, and Biff's Coffee Shop on 28th and Broadway in Oakland, and he sold institutional furniture, commission contract sales, for Thonet and American Chair Co., and later Serta Mattress, in the Merchandise Mart on 10th and Market. My mother, Lucille Abrahamson, was elected to the San Francisco School Board twice, two years as President, worked in Mayor Dianne Feinstein's Office of Childcare, and was appointed S.F. Human Rights Commissioner by Mayor Frank Jordan, the former Police Chief. I told them we were engaged and my Dad said, "Don't marry her, I can't afford it. We sold the restaurants to Mama's, they went bankrupt, didn't pay, we went to court, the judge fined me $160,000, and they wanted me to declare bankruptcy." My little brother said later it was his half-partner, Bill Munro, the manager's fault. He abused the help, especially the head cook, who really ran the place, the union went on strike, won so many benefits they had to go out of business and sell it. Munro had cooked the books, the judge saw it, and hence the fine. My dad said it was because I had spent too much money on Grateful Dead concerts, but I don't think that was correct, although I may have spent too much money. They wanted me to go to this psychiatrist in Bakersfield, Dr. Perelli-Minetti, who was a nice man. He said the Grateful Dead was OK. He was always telling me expensive restaurants to which to take Laurie, like where he took his wife, and encouraged me to spend lots of money on her, buy expensive dresses, jewelry, etc, so I thought it was OK. He gave me Risperdal when it first came out, in 1994. We didn't really go to that many Grateful Dead concerts. My dad didn't like the Grateful Dead and Bill Graham for other reasons. When I first got back from the New Mexico Hog Farm after Woodstock, I tried to turn him on, he thought about it for a minute and decided no, he was afraid to get busted, he was too square to get on the bus. Later he said that Bill Graham had applied to join their Jewish men's club, the Concordia-Argonaut, on Van Ness and Geary, and that he was going to vote against him. Not only was he a hippie, and made his money that way, but he was an orphan, an immigrant, and a Holocaust survivor. What it really was is that Graham was more successful than him in the role of Jewish businessman. My brother moved to Mill Valley, said he saw Graham's house and was impressed. Graham made more money than all of them, and he started as a hippie, and that filled squares like my dad with jealousy, anger, envy, and rage. My dad said, "I wish the Grateful Dead were dead," in his outrageous way. When Bill Graham's helicopter crashed on the way home from the Concord Pavilion and they had his funeral in my dad's temple, Temple Emanu-el, my dad said, "I hope it didn't hurt the helicopter!" He even hated them during the Haight-Ashbury and helped the City Fathers drive them out of town. My family was spending a lot of money at first, and I thought they were encouraging me to emulate them. When he first gave me the $100,000/year, the credit cards on his account, and sent me to UCI, my dad was acting like he could afford for me to buy anything I saw that I wanted. Then he told not to buy anything over $200, and I complied. They were all spending lots of money. He had 2 new BMW"s and a new Mercedes-Benz. He and my mom went on a temple tour of Eastern Europe and stayed in the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, she said it was a five-star hotel. My sister went to Yale after me, in Art, then got a Masters in Art Education at Stanford, an Ed.D. at Harvard, a J.D. at Cal, got a job in the White House as Assistant Chief-of-Staff to Vice-President H.W. Bush in the Ronald Reagan White House and then Founding Chairman of the Barbara Bush Campaign For Family Literacy (me at UCI) in the President H.W. Bush White House. There's a photo of her and Vice-President H.W. Bush having an audience with Pope John Paul in Sweden, and she is shaking hands with the Pope. That dress must have cost something, not to mention the travel. In her closet I saw hundreds of French gowns, and more shoes than Imelda Marcos. She met this guy from the Council of Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C., a USC Professor of International Relations, Jonathan Aronson. He went to Harvard and Stanford in Political Science, and his father was a rich St. Louis banker. They bought a mansion in Bel-Air near the Reagans', put in an Italian marble bathtub, baby grand piano, swimming pool, his self-portrait in the living room, pirates' table, Persian rug, and he drove a Jaguar S3. He said, "We're going to Paris for 2 weeks," "I'm going to Thailand to speak," and they had their son's Bar Mitzvah in Bali, so they didn't hold back on the spending. They took the whole family, including me, to the Club Med in Ixtapa, but they went bankrupt because I spent too much money on Grateful Dead concerts! My brother spent $2000 of my dad's money for a Rolex watch to keep up with the other Oshos and flew back and forth to India every few weeks for years. They flew me there, to Europe twice, and to Hawaii twice. I guess my dad was having problems, and he asked me to spend less money, but he didn't really communicate that I should spend less money because he was having financial problems. I was spending too much money on Laurie. So I ignored him. So he took away some credit cards, and I kept spending at the same level. I couldn't comprehend that commission contract sales is an up-and-down business. Then two new credit cards, each with a $5000 limit, came in the mail. I should have sent them back, but I couldn't resist the temptation. Soon I realized that I couldn't let my dad find out about them, because he would take them away, too. I set out to get revenge on him for taking away my credit cards by charging even *more* money. The first thing I did was take Laurie to the most expensive restaurant in Los Angeles, Spago's, $140 for salmon for two. Then the 2nd most expensive, Palms in West Hollywood. Then dresses, jewelry, and when we went to Hawaii we did the same thing with the recreation. Maybe *that's* what drove my dad into near-bankruptcy, not the Grateful Dead concerts. We really didn't go to that many. I just spent a lot of money on her. She just liked to go to movies, comedy clubs, country-western dance halls, miniature golf, roller skating, she was always thinking of something. They cut my allowance from $100,000/year to $40,000/year, my sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Jonathan, became "trustees of your trust fund", keep the Blue Cross PPO. They took away all 12 of my credit cards and defaulted on them, leaving me in debt to the credit card companies for $15,000, with bad credit to this day, since 1993. They raised it up to $60,000 and I moved to New Mexico, near the Castagnas who used to live at the Hog Farm. Alberto asked me to call my mother, father, sister, and brother-in-law and ask each of them for $10,000 for a liver transplant for his Hepatitis C because his job as Director of Taos County Ambulances, working his way up from paramedic and EMT, didn't have good insurance. They said no. Maybe that's what set 'em off. They asked me to go to a psychiatrist, who dismissed me. Then Laurie wanted me to come back to Los Angeles and move in to her apartment. They wanted me to find another psychiatrist. I found psychedelic therapist Dr. Robert Newport online at the Island Group in Santa Cruz, referred by Bruce Eisner, but my sister fought with him and he lost his license for prescribing medications, including Risperdal, without seeing the patients. I called him and he said, "Did your sister let up on you yet? I'm not a psychiatrist any more, I'm a painter." So they took me to Dr. Lisa Fine, who also gave me Risperdal, which gave me diabetes. Laurie got it too, from Seroquel. They found the diabetes when a cardiolgist wanted to do an emergency heart surgery,an angiogram and an angioplasty. My brother drove my sister-in-law's Ford Escort to L.A. from Sedona. They said they were going to give it to me. He showed it to me and said, "This is your car." They said they were going to give it to me after the surgeries, but they changed their mind and never did. My car had totally broken down at a job interview in Irvine just a few days before my appointment with the cardiologist, who decided I was going to have emergency heart surgery. When I recovered I stopped by at some friends from the Cubensis shows and they talked me into starting going to shows again, to the Phil Lesh and Friends show and the Ratdog show at the Wiltern, and the Ratdog show at the House of Blues. I'd told Richie on the phone I'd stopped going to shows when Jerry died and he'd said, "I did too." They had a picture of them with the 4 original members in an airport on the way to a concert called The Dead. After that, this psychologist Eric Asa-Dorian from the Life Adjustment Team, probably a drug rehab, they said her mother called, shows up in our living room, posing as a Deadhead, except with more, better tickets than me. Then they got me to go to LAT and I never knew it was a drug rehab, it was disguised as marriage counseling or something. In the end they took the $60,000/year except for meds, medical bills, Anthem Blue Cross PPO, SSI, and put me in Brentwood Manor board-and-care home for two years, I think illegally, before I had learned how to treat the diabetes, so it had developed another complication besides the heart disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetic neuropathy, or diabetic nerve pain, or "burning feet". When they moved me out of Laurie's apartment 12 years ago with the Comcast that was the last time they let me have cable, except for a brief period. No police, no arrest, no charges, no hearing, no trial, no sentence, no jail, no prison, no due process. No evidence or proof that *I* ever did anything wrong, as far as I'm concerned, frames and smears I've never heard, let alone allowed to answer. I said I'd sue all of them for $2 billion for attempted murder, elder financial abuse, false imprisonment, psychiatric torture, medical malpractice, emotional anguish, pain and suffering, and my attorney, Bruce Margolin, who'd been Timothy Leary's attorney (I went to a fundraiser they had at Timothy Leary's house in Beverly Hills when he was running for State Senator), said, "Where'd you get the $2 billion?" so $200 million is more in the range, I think. I had to get a job selling Sprint phones B2B to small businesses in the South, work my way out of there and get some financial aid from Cal State East Bay. I'd been a junior Computer Science major at Cal State Northridge when I was living with Laurie before the surgeries. And Tina Kimmel, a Cal Ph.D. in Social Work I met at the New Mexico Hog Farm after Woodstock got my sister to give me a $68,000 annuity that my dad left me, so that was pretty good, so I got to go to Monterey and Camp Winnarainbow, and they're paying for a lot of things now. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. I'm still a senior Computer Science major and pre-law. Afterwards Alberto died, I called Richie from the board-and-care, he called my sister, I called him back, and he had terminal liver cancer. Alberto flew out and carved his tombstone, and he picked out wood for Tinker to make his coffin, but my sister wouldn't give me $100 to visit him at Camp Winnarainbow before he died. Steve had died of hep C. Then Hunter Thompson committed suicide. When I was going to the LAT psychiatrist to whom they forced me to go, I emailed Cap'n Skypilot to post something I could show him on his office computer, and he wrote a story about a man whose parents he said were responsible for the death of Ken Kesey and the assassination of JFK. When I got up here Vince Welnick committed suicide. I ran into Lou Todd, then he got sick and died, and then Tinker, who I once saw drive the Furthur bus. Charlene said her landlady wouldn't rent her house anymore, she moved in with her daughter; her other daughter got accused of murder, and she didn't do it. Laurie's elementary schoolteacher friend's apartment caught on fire and they blamed her. My Deadhead lawyer friend said his SUV caught on fire. I can't figure out the reason for all this. I would be interested if anybody, especially with legal knowhow, had any helpful advice. I'm thinking of appealing to my Yale classmates, to see if any of them are big-time lawyers yet, and I don't think any Democratic politicians have seen it, since most of them don't have email addresses. They were telling people I was dying, but the doctors said my numbers were good, so you can't die from controlled diabetes, maybe it was just wish-fulfillment. And Jerry famously died of a diabetic heart attack in a drug rehab, maybe someone got ideas. While I was in Brentwood the lawyer sent me a copy of the trust instrument where my parents had initialed that when my mom dies, the inheritance, which it originally says was divided into thirds between me, my brother, and sister, they rubbed me out and divided it in half between my brother and sister. She'll get my mom's house worth about $2 million, and she has a $4.3 million house in Bel-Air, and a house in Telluride, and my dad bought my brother a house in Sedona. I was living in Laurie's apartment. My brother will get my dad's commercial property in Oakland, a tire and party store. And there's some money they'll divide in half. Karma is a babe from Fennario - or maybe Carlisle-Mayor K. All of the goodwill we sent to you came back threefold. After the late nights fraught with ticket envy and ticketmaster bashing, we are almost out on the Golden Road. The love of my life and I have tickets on hand for 7/5, we check in Friday night, and we might even go to the Saturday show too if tickets are reasonable on the lot. I will expose her to Billy and Mike for the first time......I haven't seen either of them since Montage Mountain 1998. I will not be wearing my 1989 summer tour Batman steal your face t shirt as planned....26 years and 36 pounds have made it not decent for the public !!! We probably all faced similar dilemmas while packing. Sh*t, I don't even recall bringing much with me when I was on the road in 88 and 89. Was I uncivilized? No, just a Deadhead. I'm so excited to see old friends, the Shakedown, new friends, and the seven guys on stage.

One more contest! Someone leaked the setlists before the Santa Clara shows, so I guess we'll have to come up with something different this time in case that person does the same for Chicago. Rumors are swirling about who might make a guest appearance this weekend, so we're going to have a 2-part contest. The first person to correctly guess how many guests will join the boys onstage during the course of the 3 shows will receive a piece of original Grateful Dead artwork as a prize. Additionally, the first person to correctly guess the name of the first guest appearing onstage will also win a prize. IMPORTANT: Read the Rulez before entering! 1) Only one entry per person, one number and name per entry. An individual's duplicate guesses will be ignored and only the first guess will count 2) Yes, "zero" is a number, and "nobody" is a name 3) Entrant must have a dead.net "joined" date of 6/30/2015 or sooner (to prevent guesses under more than one user name. I know how sneaky y'all can be!) 4) A "guest" is someone not in the announced configuration of the band who appears onstage and sings and/or plays an instrument (yes, a cowbell is an instrument - damn straight!). Guest must be a legitimate, recognizable musician/singer. Guys in the crew banging on stuff behind Billy and Mickey don't count. Politicians/promoters/announcers don't count. 5) Multiple appearances by a guest on a single day counts as ONE. Appearances by a particular guest on 2 or 3 days counts as TWO or THREE, respectively. For example, if Taylor Swift joins the fellas on Friday and Sunday, that counts as 2. If Kenny G is there Friday, Saturday and Sunday, that counts as 3, in which case I might beg the good Lord to call me home on the spot! 6) Only guesses sent to me in a PM will be considered. Anything posted in a forum will be ignored. Oh, yeah...please keep the PMs short and sweet 7) Entries will be accepted from 5:00 PM Pacific time on Thursday, 7/2 through 3 PM Pacific time on Friday, 7/3. Guesses submitted outside those parameters will be ignored 8) First person to guess correctly wins (determined by order of appearance in my inbox) 9) Past winners of prizes will sit this one out so someone new can share the goodies. Those folks are JimJohn, mbarilla, Syracuse78 and Strider88. Thanks for understanding, guys. 10) Yes, OF COURSE the rainbow was real. Sheesh! Disclaimers: Contest is null and void if guests are announced prior to 3 PM Pacific time on 7/3. This contest is not affiliated in any way with dead.net, Rhino, Musictoday, MaryE, band members, the ghost of Pigpen, seagulls hovering above Lemieux, etc. Just little ol' me! Have fun at the shows and good luck!

This is the first installment of a journey that will take 3 hip ladies to Chicago from Boston; I'd like you to meet Althea, Bertha & Cassidy 3 gals who met each other at MSG 1990, they've been through the good times as well as the bad times, through marriages, 1 divorce & all 3 have 2 kids each, they share a strong connection in life & a stronger tie for there love of music, especially the Grateful Dead. It is 7:35 PM EDT, they made plans to meet at the site of the venerable Boston Garden at 5PM EDT, the vehicle they will be sharing the driving will be an ultra cool 1957 Willys pickup 4X4 just like the one Sugar Magnolia drove. As they go thru various states they will encounter MANY people along the way, in fact just before they began the journey the met a captain, & strange one at that asking if they'd like to out on the harbor in his Ship of Fools they said no, as the Race Is On to Chicago he asked for what they all replied simultaneously, FARE THEE WELL he said oh the one with Annabelle, they replied again simultaneously, that's the one!!!!! So now they're On The Road heading down I-95 with 9/26/91 in the tape deck, they want to stop in NYC, just to get in a "New York" state of mind before they head to the Windy City. Tomorrow I will tell you more as I have a story to tell, the story ends with the girls arriving in Chicago on Friday BEFORE show time, until then STAY DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a wonderful weekend! I had a grate time with my old friends, and don’t even mind anymore that I missed the rainbow Dark Star. I’ve lucked into my share of “once only” shows, somebody else got it this time. Sunday night wasn’t exactly a bummer ;-) Bob actually got 65,000 people to be Dead quiet for several seconds — I think that shows a hell of a lot of respect and affection for those who couldn’t be there, though I’m not so sure some of them weren’t. The Brokedown Palace was heartbreaking, sung together without “singing along”. If it were 19-eighty-something I might be rolling East now, the old VW staying cool while I stayed uptight about my California license plates, which I always figured were about like having a vanity plate that read “Hippie”. I was never stopped, but if I had been I was prepared. Word to the wise. My spirit travels with you, as the Grateful Dead assemble one last time, in the place where we ended 20 years ago but did not end. Sin Funcisco will be watching from 2000 miles away, right there beside you. Perhaps we’ll hear or see something of Hunter or Donna in Chicago. Blessed be. Here is a story from 1972: A TRUE GARCIA TALE: We’re outside of Winterland after a Grateful Dead show. The five of us are standing on the sidewalk trying to get a little un-disorientated when a door opens in the side of the building and the Dead walk out. Bill and Pigpen are first; someone yells out “great show,Pig”; he says thanks. I notice the Smiling Service filling station patch on the shoulder of his jacket and crack a grin. Jerry’s right behind him, close enough to touch. He looks noticeably smaller in person than on stage. I badly want to say something to him, my mouth is open but no words come out. Garcia’s walking past me, he’s gone, it’s too late. Then words are spoken — a very heartfelt “Hey…thank you, man!” emerges dryly from my throat. Jerry turns on his heel, looks me dead in the eye, and says: “No…thank you!”. Yeah, I was still tripping, but four other people later confirmed what he said. And we all agreed on what he meant.

Major bummer I think my heart just got pulled from chest! A friend called last week with an extra 3 day ticket for Chicago. This was after all ticket attempts had failed. Then it got taken back. My car was already packed and I've got my best greenery, wax and paper! I was gonna wing it but the prospect of spending cash and potentially being left in Chicago outside the shows was a heartbreaker. But that's not the PSA. A friend of a friend who was taking the ticket initially but was going through serious hard drug problems checked out of detox yesterday morning against the recommendations of family and friends and demanded the ticket. So now someone whose family and friend's don't want them there for serious health and safety concerns will be travelling to Chicago. I'm getting the impression this is going to be a recurring story this weekend with many people. Everyone please keep an eye out on your neighbour and watch out for each other. There will be a lot of partying this weekend and some people will be reckless. Let's make it a party but stay safe and keep the shit show out of the newspapers!

First show since '87 Dylan Dead 4th of July Hundred or so east coast shows before that. First time I'm flying to show, staying in a hotel for show, carrying a cell phone to a show. It's all a little surreal. Will miss Jer more than a little. Let Phil sing Box or Rain, hope Bobby doesn't spit on u too much, grab a smoke during Rooster, hope the cops are cool, Iko or Althea would make me happy, Sugaree to open, we'll all be ok, not sure I can handle Peggy O - too many memories. Tease us a Stephen. So many nights wondering were is this jam headed.

Excellent weather forecast for Chicago. Wonderful as we weren't sure what to expect as it was a rainy June for the Great Lakes region. Sorry to hear your pass fell through Direwulf and especially the circumstances with the friend of your friend. My sincere hope is for a positive environment all weekend. I saw that they pushed back the outdoor lots opening to 3 p.m., but are prepared to open earlier if needed-- I think it will be needed. I have one friend making the trek without a ticket for the Friday night gig-- hope to find one. I don't think there will be many cover songs-- other than traditional GD arranged tunes, such as NFA, GDTRFB, etc... The only covers last weekend fall into that category, with Lovelight, Morning Dew, Viola Lee. I wish Bobby would do a Pigpen rap just once during Lovelight-- "Get yo' hands out of your pockets..." I am sure there will be songs repeated from SC, but plenty of nuggets left unmined-- China/Rider, Scarlet/Fire, Help/Slipknot/Franklin's, Weather Report, Playin', Terrapin. And those are just second set tunes! Can't wait-- in 24 hours I will be heading down to the show.

I bought tix to Sunday's show at the movie theatre. I never was smart enough to go see the band live so at least I will get this experience to enjoy. It's something! The lady at the box office said there haven't been many tix sold so we can stretch out and relax. Hope everyone that goes in the flesh has a superb time

The forecast is seriously beautiful, and the days are going to be warm and sunny. But it will be cooler at the lakefront, and even cooler at night -- last night was downright CHILLY. Just sayin'.

Thought I'd re-post this one... If you're still on the road and looking for a place to stop along the way (for a few or overnight), a place to pitch a tent, park a bus, an RV or a car while en route to Chicago (we're out in the country, 140 miles northwest of the city). The gate is open; we don't want anything in return (AKA - free). All we ask is that anyone stopping/staying treat the place with respect. PM for location information J and T

A bit cool today, but better than yesterday and yes the weekend looks beautiful, no rain (Only boxes) but remember, Solider Field is practically on Lake Michigan. As for tickets, well if you were planning to come, and still don't have any, my niece said there were PLENTY in all the lots, some free, all at or below face. Chicago is a great town, VERY welcoming of heads, and bring your bathing suit, 18th Street beach is walking distance from all the lots. Let's show Chicago, and Chicago police department, we are THE best fans of any event downtown!!

Well the ladies made it to the Big Apple at approximately 4AM EDT quite tired however very excited, they could've stayed at some posh hotel in Manhattan however they chose to stay at some Brokedown Palace on the Lower East Side called The Mars Hotel East to them it was the right place to be, they checked in & met the inn keeper who called himself Big Boss Man, now in the lobby before the ladies went upstairs to catch some much needed shut eye they meet 3 wise men, August West, Casey Jones, & Jack A Roe, all 3 of these guys enjoyed women, wine & song but now they just like wine, whiskey & rye, now the gals told them "we can't help you at this late hour" however they gave them a bottle of Ripple to share then one of them I believe it was August West said "I like my Pearly Baker best" so he didn't partake in the Ripple drinking he went back down to the docks of the city. When they finally got to there room which by the way is Room #13 right outside the room was a couple, Reuben & Cherise now these 2 were barely 20, Althea asked what can we do to help you Cherise asked, "can we get a dime for cup of coffee"? Now Cassidy said a dime won't get you a stick of gum in this day & age however the crazy part is Bertha saw this young lady open her purse & saw she had Money Money on her the girl then proceeded to say that we're trying to get to Terrapin Station at Shakedown Street, needless to say Help ISN'T on the way. Now they're in room 13 hoping to catch some much needed sleep before they head off for the Windy City. Part 3 tomorrow it's a GRATE journey stay tuned & as always STAY DEAD!!!!!!!

I think I've met those guys before, but that Jack-A-Roe was a bit unusual for a man. Slender waist, small fingers, and red rosy cheeks....

Hello to all my brothers and sisters out there, welcome to the Windy City. Gonna be a big weekend - Be Kind! We'll see you all there. BTW - if you are caught with up to 14g, the cops have the CHOICE of giving you a ticket or arresting you. Be cool and you'll only get a ticket. They were all very friendly in the 90's and the atmosphere is a lot looser now, it's not the Chicago of the 60's lol

The ladies are in the City of Wind the Weather Report stated that the weather is going to be almost exactly perfect, & it is beautiful indeed, now I'd like to say that the gals journey was a long strange trip however it was a Sentimental Journey fueled by memories of the olden days when being a Deadhead was a way of life, once arriving in Chicago all 3 discovered that parking was almost near impossible so they parked about 10 blocks away from the venue & proceeded to walk where they encountered many people, some with tickets, some without, some searching for a miracle & some who were there just to see what strange circus has come to town. Chi Town is buzzing with the anticipation of our nations birthday as well as hosting the world's GRATEST carnival, for The Grateful Dead has come to town. The very first thing they encounter is the GD Merch bus chock full of 50th Anniversary trinkets, sort of like a souvenir shop on wheels, after spending time & a rather large sum of Money Money the ladies head out to another Shakedown Street which seem to be all over the place instead of shopping they head to a park where they encounter a Brown Eyed Woman who is looking for reds, vitamin C & cocaine they say they do not know anyone who is holding anything, they proceed to tell her that maybe she should stop by the Wharf Rat tent & perhaps listen to what's being said instead of acting on an ugly, unbreakable chain of destruction, after leaving her they meet a young man named Tennessee Jed who's singing the Cumberland Blues because he can't find his Lindy Lou & she has the Roses for Scarlet Begonia. Althea is sitting on a park bench talking to Black Peter who with Jack Straw is grooving to the sounds of 8/4/76 on an old boom box, meanwhile, Bertha & Cassidy are grooving to a story being told by a Lost Sailor & his sidekick Saint of Circumstance about how in the olden days this scene took place in every city the good ole Grateful Dead played in, they listen to the Birdsong coming from the trees but alas the ladies must depart as the make there way to the "Field of Dreams". There are Days Between when the Deal just doesn't go down Althea wanted this hand made GD 50th tapestry but the artist said to her "sorry NOT FOR SALE" so she said Comes A Time when I got to keep on movin on, now they're really Truckin to Soldier Field to listen to the Greatest Story Ever Told they just encountered Dear Mr. Fantasy who is Waving That Flag while listening to US Blues. Well they're finally here singing songs of praise to let the Good Times Roll they talk to the Estimated Prophet who tells them they open with Help>Slip>Frank & encore with Attics, well He's Gone time to head in & encounter many kind people as we are all our own to live, love & listen to the WORLD'S greatest band, The Grateful Dead. And may EVERYONE who is attending OR not attending have a GRATE time this July 4th weekend I will post my dream setlist on Sunday BEFORE show time. HAPPY 50th Anniversary GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR A REAL GOOD TIME Peace

Don't know Phish from nuthin', but 3 shows in Trey is killin' it. How hard is it to retire each GD classic you play the first time out? No pressure, only genuine enthusiasm will carry you through and Trey's exhibiting that in spades.

Highlight of the first set for me..my 3yr old daughter, and 18 month old twins (daughter and son) dancing together on our patio listening. Unfortunately all fell asleep mid-set. I was happy they made it way past their bed time for at least a little bit, to share this time with me. Very special. I'll always remember this.

Embarrassed to say I'm not sure but was Bobby playing a Fender Strat or Telecaster for the first Chi show? I also noticed he played an autographed guitar for a tune or two in the second SC show, I'm assuming that was for a charity auction or something. Surprised he didn't have his 'holy grail' Gibson for this show.

I gotta say, I don't think I've ever heard Phil sing as strongly as he did tonight for Franklin's. Go Phil! And it was great to see everyone getting at least one tasty solo in tonight. Finally, Ripple was about the best way to end the night after that super hot Help!>Slip>Franklin's and the loving shout out from Phil during his donor rap. So good!

I agree with One More Saturday Night. After all, it's the LAST Saturday Night. And US Blues for the encore. We'll check back tomorrow! Have fun, be safe, and don't trample the flower gardens!

WOW!That Scarlet>Fire was ripping roaring! I think Trey is finally getting his footing, but I wish i could hear more of Bruce, both on piano and vocals. Never was a huge Chemitti fan, but last night he proved more than his value as he did a lot with Brent's old organ. So, Pigpen or Brent jams in the mix? And yes, I would say Saturday night opener, or closer, or second set opener, with a U.S. Blues encore.
