THE SEATS WERE STILL HOT AT ELEVEN P.M.
IT WAS THE LAST OF THREE UNEVEN SHOWS.I ADMIT I AM PRETTY SNOBBY MY FIRST SHOW'S WERE IN EARLY '78 AND AN AWFUL LOT IN BETWEEN.BY NOW WITH VINCE AND THE MIDI ON JERRY'S GUITAR IT TOOK ALOT TO PLEASE ME.I HATED THAT MIDI WITH A PASSION AND VINCE DID LESS THAN NOTHING IN MY BOOK,HE NEVER FIT IN THE BAND,AND HIS SONGS WERE LAME.BUT THE THIRD NITE IN THE DESERT I WILL ADMIT WAS PRETTY GOOD.OUT OF ALL THE SHOW'S I SAW IN THE 90'S AROUND 75 OR SO THERE WAS ABOUT 10 THAT WERE GOOD START TO END.I MUST BE HONEST, IN GIANT'S STADIUM WHEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MUSIC NEVER STOPPED THEY WENT INTO EASY ANSWERS I KNEW THE END WAS NEAR.
So hot it was scarey....all the parking lot dogs died
Man - It was too damn hot. Way way way too hot. I couldn't drink as fast as a sweat, even till midnight. The desert is no place for living critters when its like that night. That mega amp breaker blowing on the stacks during Phil's vocals is evidence of reasonable temperatures having been exceeded. Organic sound struggles in such hot air....and I don't mean Phil!
What I remember most about
What I remember most about these shows was how hot it was. It was like bein' in sauna. Some friends who were a mile or so away, said they could see steam comin' out of the stadium. Killer shows, tho. It's the only time in Vegas I remember having a light show on stage.
Traffic opened for this run.
Saw them again that summer at Woodstock '94.
I saw 3 of their Concerts.
I saw 3 of their Concerts. This one and SLC and Vegas in 1995. I can still remember the very first song they played at all of them. But I was driving myself crazy trying to remember who opened for them. There has never been anyone better than Grateful Dead! I miss Jerry :(
First set footage on Youtube
A great Ramble on Rose and a bunch of other tunes are there as well

Please don't dominate the rap, jack, if you've got nothing new to say
I found this show sooo sad
I wasn't there but I did find most of the first set on youtube. take a look. I watched and listened to the fist set of this show and by the end of El Paso I felt like crying...and by the end of So Many Roads I was crying...I found it so sad to watch...I believe you can see the pain, hurt, desperation, and degeneration in Jerry. There even seems to be a lot of animosity from Bobby towards Jerry towards the end of this opening set. Watch El Paso you will see it too........

Sad, for sure
I also, unfortunately, did not attend this show but watched the youtube clips (and heard the rest of the show on archive.org). Yeah, it was so sad, but so beautiful. It was like they were giving up, but in a fall-backwards-off-the-edge-of-a-cliff giving up, hoping, believing, that something would catch them or that they would just end up flying (letting go and letting God, I suppose you could say). Although Jerry was forgetting lines, his singing and playing was as beautiful as ever. The So Many Roads and Peggy O are my favorite versions ever. Just something so deeply beautiful and pure with Jerry there--and really the whole band--on those tunes. RIP.
My worst mistake!
This is the day that I made the worst mistake of my life.I got married to my long time abusive BF.
For the wedding pictures we stood outside in the damnable hot wind. It was 117 in the shade. Like standing in front of a giant blow dryer.
After, we went to a casino to cool off and have breakfast. He said he'd be right back and left me at the coffee bar. 4 hours later he came back and yelled at me that we were going to be late to the show. Couldn't find me, he said. He also mentioned that he maxed out two of my credit cards. Nice.
We made it to the show and I thought it was PERFECT that the first song was Hell In A Bucket!! HaHa! Thats right!
I loved this show! Terrapin Station was beautiful beyond words!
The huge moon rising above the stadium during the song caused an eerie homecoming feeling like "Ahh THERE is the mothership. I can finally be free!"
Very weird and it absolutely fit into the spiritual experience category in my life. I searched for that show for many years.
Never found it.
I did cry alot along this tour. It wasn't because I was getting married, though I should have been crying about that. There was something so tragic, so telling in Jerrys musical language that it gripped my heart like only the impending loss of a loved one can. I knew.
I've never been able to express this before. I've never heard another person who felt this as I did. So glad I wasn't alone in that.
After Jerry, I realized that I had nothing left in common with my abusive husband. He eventually went totally insane and I was able to make my escape.
Adventures and memories...
Peace and Blessings
Went to this show with my
Went to this show with my Dad....Pappa Jeem...was really hot...Watchtower....Morning dew...
Last TIme
This was my last show and very happy to say it was a perfect last show. The second set was awesome I stood at the opposite end of the stadium and watched the light show unfold. In interviews Candace she says this show was a real work of art and it showed. Everything was perfect this night the mystical vibration definitely in the air. I am proud to say this was my last memory of Jerry on top of his game not struggling to stay afloat RIP sir a good captain always goes down with the ship.
I'm sure you've figured this out by now, but...
Traffic opened. I still have the sticker of "Traffic, Dead Ahead." ;)
Outside in Vegas this time of year? Wtf
Hot hot hot, hated to leave to catch a plane during Morning Dew and I missed the flight anyways. Only regret, probably would have been cool to see Traffic but wouldn't give up the pre show parties with my mother-in-law, rest her soul, for anything! That woman new how to have fun. Kitty, love and miss ya
