Welcome back to the Tapers' Section, where this week we have Grateful Dead music from 1977, and a double dose of 1980.
Our first stop this week is the end of the first set of the penultimate show of the great Spring Tour of 1977, on 5/26/77 in Baltimore. Tour listings amongst the band's business papers indicate the tour was scheduled to end on 5/22/77 in Pembroke Pines, FL, but sometime on the tour they added three final nights, on 5/25 in Richmond, this show, and the finale on 5/28 in Hartford. From Baltimore, we have Brown Eyed Women; Looks Like Rain ; Jack-A-Roe ; New Minglewood Blues ; Bertha.
Next up from 5/29/80 in Des Moines, we have the start of the second set featuring Feel Like A Stranger ; Ship Of Fools ; Estimated Prophet > Eyes Of The World.
Lastly this week, from 12/13/80 in Long Beach, CA, we have the entire first set, featuring Feel Like A Stranger> Sugaree > C C Rider ; To Lay Me Down ; New Minglewood Blues ; Ramble On Rose ; Lost Sailor > Saint Of Circumstance > Deal. We used to love labelling our cassette tapes with these final three songs of the set, accentuating the first letter of each song in our labelling.
Please stop by next week for more music from the vault.
