"When we began discussing audio projects to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead back in 2012, we knew we wanted to do something completely unprecedented. We could think of nothing more exciting or ambitious than a career-spanning overview of the band's live legacy focused on what best tells the story: complete concerts. Our first criterion was the very best live music to represent any given year in the band’s history. We wanted to make sure that there were not only the tent-pole shows that fans have been demanding for decades but also ones that are slightly more under the radar, but equally excellent. For those who listen to the entire box straight through, chronologically, the narrative of the Grateful Dead's live legacy will be seen as second to none in the pantheon of music history." - David Lemieux

We are more than pleased to announce the Grateful Dead's most ambitious release ever: 30 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN. Available as both an 80-disc boxed set and a custom lightning-bolt USB drive, the collection includes 30 unreleased live shows, one for each year the band was together from 1966 to 1995, along with one track from their earliest recording sessions in 1965. Packed with over 73 hours of music, both the boxed set and the USB drive will be individually numbered limited editions.

The 80-disc boxed set is individually numbered and limited to 6,500 copies, a nod to the band’s formation in 1965. Along with the CDs, it also includes a gold-colored 7-inch vinyl single which bookends the band’s career. The A-side is “Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)” from the band’s earliest recording session in 1965 with the B-side of the last song the band ever performed together live, “Box Of Rain” recorded during their final encore at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 9, 1995.

The box also comes with a 288-page book that features an extensive, career-spanning essay written by Nick Meriwether, who oversees the Dead archives at the University of California, Santa Cruz, along with special remembrances of the band submitted by fans. Also included is a scroll that offers a visual representation of how the band’s live repertoire has evolved through the years.

The USB drive version* will be shaped like a gold lightning bolt with the Grateful Dead 50th anniversary logo engraved on the side. The drive includes all of the music from the collection in both FLAC (96/24) and MP3 formats and is an individually numbered limited edition of 1,000 copies. Digital version of the book also included on USB.

Shows will NOT be sold individually on CD. This release is sure to sell out quickly so pre-order your copy today and stick around as we will be revealing a mighty fine selection of music, art, and much, much more right here.

(Looking for a smaller 50th Anniversary commemorative keepsake? September 18th will see the release of a four-CD version of the collection titled 30 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN: THE DEFINITIVE LIVE STORY 1965-1995. More on that here.)

On Windows – Navigate to the USB drive and double click the PCStart.exe file to run.
On MacOS – Open the GD 30 Trips drive, and double click the MacStart to run.

    Viewing the digital book:
You can either view it within the program that comes on the drive, or by opening the PDF directly.

To view the PDF, open the PDF folder on the drive and the USB_bk_spreads_08-31 file within. Selecting the option within your PDF reading application to view as a “single page” might be preferable to viewing as a continuous document.

I reviewed my LMA MP3 derived set of the complete Dead sets from 5/15/70 and can't find the Pigpen rant I have been angry about GDM removing during the Road Trips editing! I must have imagined it years before. It was so firmly entrenched in my mind that I never discovered it WASN'T THERE until you're disbelief made me check in with reality! Well, I am still right and accurate with any other comments I make. Everyone forget about this regrettable incident. My credibility is totally blown... Got a lot of hateful thoughts towards GDM to make up for. Maybe buying this box will balance the scales? There's a $700 see-saw rocking in my head, me on one seat, my wife and baby on the other. When will the see-saw settle to one side? Which side will it be?

....some fans have stated there is nothing "new" in this box. My opinion is as thus. If I haven't heard it yet, then any given show is "new" to me, and that's all that counts....this box is for me, not anybody else. Don't mean to sound presumptuous, but that's my take. Do with it what you will. ....as far as packaging, this release is gonna be pretty big and heavy. I fear the discs might be packaged ala Road Trips style. I hope I'm wrong....

IMHO -- -- This box set strikes me as a pretty opportunistic venture by GDM. Talk about "sticker shock." Wow. And, after 36 editions of Dicks Picks, another 12(?) of Dave's Picks, the "So Glad You Made It," and "May '77" box sets, not to mention "Road Trips" and various exceptional -- and some not so hot -- single disk releases, I couldn't honestly even think about plowing more $$$ into another "epic" box release. I'm a deadhead, and I can find reasons to appreciate even some of the "lamer" shows and tours, but I can't see plunking down so much mooola for stuff that, basically, has been duplicated many times on other GD releases. Do I really need another '77 show? Or another '84 show? '93? No.

9:49pm here in Philly I just checked the tracking of the 16lbs., box of whatever from Warner Group at 8:34pm according to the tracking info provided it left Taylor, PA. wherever that is & is now en route ON TIME to shipping destination, the next time I track this package tomorrow morning the status will change to "OUT FOR DELIVERY". Now why I haven't I received a shipping notice from dead.net & why hasn't the order status changed from "backordered" TO "shipped"? Thank God the wife will be home tomorrow to receive it I wouldn't take to kindly to an $758.78 box set just "walking" off the front steps. Now I ask you kind folks out here in Deadland, what's going on?

wow! when did the unveiling video go up! it's really happening, WOOT! and I'm still headed to the 30 Trips altar wearing white!/peace, K Edit: holy cow! I just scrolled down....thought I felt my ears burning after logging off a bit ago...HEY: where are we all meeting to discuss these shows? I like the individual threads for each date in the archive "the archives" section .... someone made a GREAT suggestion that Dnet convert the show list on this page to interactive links!/peace redux, K Edit II: Okay, I've watched 3 times now and all can I say is, we need more of the Price-Is-Right-Unveiling-Box-Guy - he's a trip! It's like watching a silent movie with histrionic acting to compensate for the lack of vocals..."...and the winner of the WebOscar for Best Performance in a Deadnet short is..." Edit III: Just how the heck am I supposed to sleep now? Incidentally, watch the video in full screen. I see metal hinges, presumably secured in wood. Nice. And apparently large enough to hold a human head for you folks in New Jersey :O (sorry, I begin channeling Paulie Walnuts when giddy and fatigued - g'night)

There's something I like about not seeing something in advance - I like to get the surprise for myself - the only video unboxing I ever watched was for the Queen Vinyl box because hey...its just vinyl and a book...but this....can I hold back..... It's like seeing Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman clothed - would you like to see someone else peeling her clothes off and looking on it or do it yourself..... That's it - I'm holding off!!

Now we're here to discuss our most beautiful grateful dead member kate...I'm assuming 100% that the box will be here tomorrow I didn't know so many of us lived in the same area I figured most of you were west coast people...the video I watched they showed you the components and what it looks like the other one from 1972 tour was big I don't know where to put that thing 6 years later...no not 2009? was it? the 1990 box sets were also big but at least they were the same size...the book looks deeper than most box set type books...it's a lot to go through...I just hope it does come tomorrow...I believe the hype but there's always doubt until it happens...it's not like I have a tracking number to look at i'm just assuming it's right along with everybody else's.

It's a common question - is your glass half empty or half full? In my case, people like Chilly are asking me is my box half-empty or half-full. Well - I can tell you it's now only one-third full... the remaining shows left at 45US dollars per show (email me at gilmourstephen@hotmail.com) being: 68 78 80 82 83 86 90 92 93 94 95

Must not look, must not look! I have only listened to the 7" single download, just read the email from deadnet that it is shipping, but lookup order shows still back ordered. Nice to be getting the extra ticket and backstage pass, as well as a chance to win the RIAA gold disc. Brookvale records are to be shipping Dick's Picks Volume 6 in glorious vinyl next month, bring it on home!

Feeling tired of the same old routine? Bummed by the endless flow of bad news? In need of a vacation, or shall we say trip? Well, head on over to DeadNet. We've got it all. Shameless pleas from cash-grabbers! Unwelcome proposals! Rude flameouts over petty differences! It's entertainment at all times of night or day! Sign up now to receive approximately one "new" advertisement per hour. You won't want to miss this. I mean, clearly I stay glued to my MacBook just so I catch every electrifying development. Bonus: You can now stream a virtual opening of the largest CD set ever produced by DeadNet. It will have eBay buyers salivating and kicking themselves for not acting sooner. The time is now. The iron is hot. Sell, sell, sell! But seriously, I will not watch that video. And though I did sneak just a few audio streams, I cannot wait to listen to all 30 trips, in this order: 66 67 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 77 78 79 80 81 82 83 84 85 86 87 88 89 90 91 92 93 94 95 Oops, did that push the previous commercial off the screen? Sorry.

So I'm not getting a case of way-over-priced beer after all. It's smaller than I thought and from what this teaser video shows, it's a unique design.

My order status still says Backordered, shipping by 10/31/15. Also, when I go to dead.net the home page comes up as plain text. I'm wondering if this is being caused by the increase in activity from overnight. I did get the email saying Boxzilla is shipping soon.

It's a nice touch. Thanks Dead.net! What, if anything are folks going to have inscribed on their scroll? I had my full name inscribed on my E72 box, and was thinking of maybe doing something different (probably not) with my scroll. I am curious what you all are going to go with.

Have NOT listened to one note from the free stream, read one sentence from the free stream of the book nor will I view the unveiling video, BOXZILLA will be in my hands in a few hours I've waited since the day I preordered on June 24th what's a few hours, give or take? The wife will be home as she's still kind of out of it after spending 24 days in her homeland country of Kenya, she goes back to work Monday, she said she'll be glad to wait for the UPS guy/gal as she is tired of hearing me talk about it. Darling the wait is over well ALMOST over. Well time to go fight I-95 Southbound traffic, I'm working in Rittenhouse Square today, I MUST stay focused, don't want to paint a room the wrong color that would sort of take the fun out of a joyous Thursday now wouldn't it? HAPPY 30 TRIPS THURSDAY DEADLAND!!!!!!!!!

According to my wife, who gets notifications of all UPS deliveries to the house, the box set from Warner Music Group is out for delivery this morning here in northern Virginia. Still have not received any official notification that it has shipped, a tracking order number, and the order status here on Dead.net still lists as back ordered. We'll see what's waiting when I get home from work this evening.
