Grateful Dead

Another fun time. Very sorry that it was to be my last Dead show. The memories are still 'live and kickin'.

This was my last time to see Jerry. From what I recall it was a good show. Samba was fun and you have to admire Chuck Berry for opening up and still doing the duck walk. I would have savoured the moment more had I known what was to come a few months later. Peace!

This show was loaded with tasty songs throughout. LTGTR was totally groovin' as was the Dire Wolf. Music Never Stopped was smokin' to take us to the intermission and then we were bombed with a seemingly 30 minute long Shakedown that was hit right out of the park. Follow that up with a Terrapin to end all Terrapins and bringin' it home with a Sunshine Daydream! The boys were at their best on this day and me and my friends had several comments to the effect of, "these guys are the masters!" Nothin' left to do but :) :) :)

My Buddy and I found out that Chuck Berry was going to open. We said to each other, "hey we need to see Chuck before he dies!!" Well...Jerry died 3 months later : ( And as of this posting (July 9, 2007) Chuck is still alive and kicking. Just goes to show that you never know what the future holds, so be here now! Enjoy every day! Peace.

This show was a downer for me, for the most part, simply by the fact that Jer sounded so unfocused and tired most of the show. Something was missing that even the 93 and 94 shows had. It wasn't a dissapointing show so much as a worrisome show, wondering why the hell they sounded so disjointed, having trouble getting through jams they had played for over 30 years. Wow, little did we know at that time what a sad day was to come.

Eight shows in eleven days! We were tired and so was the band! It started in Vegas with 3 shows then on to Seattle and Portland. It was unseasonably hot for Portland and the band sounded weak at times. Who knew it would be "the last time" for me to dance with my friends. Miss you Jerry.

Yep hot. Yep unfocused. But oh yes the long Shakedown! Every time i heard The Last Time I hoped it wasn't. Alas, it was. Thank you for a real good time I was one in ten thousand that came for the show. Miss you Jerry!

My last Grateful Dead show after seeing them in three decades. Chuck Berry was fun and the GD played well. I remember the temps went from mid 70's in the middle of the week to high 90's for the second show. Liberty was outstanding and the Shakedown was epic. Three months later the train stopped running. Jerry is missed.

dusty feet .... b4 the show - i's checkin out buses - land yacht's and kinda got cornered by these 12tribe folks for too long...tripped me .. anyway i think it was b-tween Shakedown AND looks like rain bobby scretched out some thin like f@$#% the chris%*^ faith - or sumthin ....was halarious..........2 me ..........

This was a really fun show for me. I'm glad I didn't know it would be my last time seeing Jerry because i would have been way too sad to really enjoy it. I loved that they played so many of the songs i really had been wanting to hear. I wish i had made it to see chuck berry, but i hitchiked from Olympia at the last minute. I feel fortunate that my roommate Billy talked me into going. ....Im going to see the dead again for the 1st time since Jerry passed in May. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself!!! :)

Maybe most memorable part of this two day stand was the vendor selling "nothing on a stick" from a tray for $2 apiece. . . (styrofoam blocks in toothpicks). A fitting commentary on the Dead's mostly empty efforts. Oh but yes, a grand "Shakedown," some wicked "Space" segments, a terrific "Row Jimmy" and a hot "Sugar Magnolia" proved once again . . . never count out the GRATEFUL GODDxMN DEAD

This was my last show too...yeah, it was hot...flew out from mpls/stpaul for the two shows...got back with wicked sunburn and everyone else was wondering where the hell I went.Had a great time at the show (especially the shakedown) cept for the sunscreen running into my eyes. The Deer Creek shows of the summer tour would have been my last (had row 4 seats one night, row 7 the next) but I left a little late and the line of traffic was unreal for the first show...by the time I got to the venue parking, the "riot" already started and the cops weren't allowing anyone to even stop on the road...the next show was cancelled. A BIG THANKS to all the heads that showed up without tickets.

Anyone remember Gumbi? I have an old pic somewhere, with gumbi at this show or the previous night...if I can find it, I'll see if I can scan it and post it here.

Saw the Dead at the Gorge 2 weeks ago. Interesting to go back to this setlist (my last GD show), and see Music Never Stopped, Tom Thumbs, Dire Wolf and Days Between. Bobby's much maligned version (while sleepy, and show slowing) of Days still brought that introspective moment for me. Reflection, redirection, redeadication!

Just found out Chuck Berry died yesterday. I had to search to see if there were any audio recordings of him opening this show. I was right up front during his set and was impressed with his ability to play and perform so well. He seemed ancient to me at the time but he even did his patented duck walk. The dead's sets were solid and I had no idea this would be the last time.
