Grateful Dead

I began at 15 and was a few months away from turning 23 it seemed like a lifetime so many great people, good vibes and happy times were all coming to an end. It was to head west from NY to "The Cool Colorado Rain" I do regret not seeing the Dead after Jerry went on that permanent hiatus but theres been other shows and Ratdog really seems to have it together, I enjoy seeing them along with lots of other new music. It's sad the way the scene died, it wasn't just Jerry's doing re: using and health problems, the world was & is changing and these days it seems not for the better. Music really touches the soul and The Grateful Dead did that for me over & over again. peace, Sklbob

I meant to type I began in '77 Englishtown at 16 yrs young & was approaching 32 yrs old. I had actually doubled my age from 16 to 32 going to shows.

Good floor seats. Smuggled in 3 gallon soft "pillow" full of oj, cranberry, vodka. Good time was had by all. Lost my brother afterwards. Had to pick him up the next day at some motel in Montville with some other heads who lost their rides too. They were probably the last people in the lot, so someone was kind enough to offer them a ride (guess they lived in Montville). Drove one (cant remember where he was from, but it was out of state) to Newark Penn station. He was broke so my brother spotted him a 50. He got it back about a week later in the mail. Good honest person. Sad to say, this would be my second to last show.

Nice SMR> Terrapin, but the SOTM was killer... full moon that night just staring Jerry right in the eye... they kept showing live pictures of the moon on the big screens... very cool.

I began at 16 and at this point I was 22 and it was time to move on. I had seen the band play just about every song I ever wanted, so I couldn't have asked for much more. This show was lackluster, but GET THE BIRD SONG. It was amazing.

Went with my then girlfriend (now wife) and my tour buddy. We had a lovey lunch in the city I had the fire house chili. Made our way to the port autority took a bus over to the stadium partying all the way. Get to the stadium rip my St. Patty's day tie die slinking under a fence but get on lot without any other incident. We roamed the lot since we were homeless and no car no biggie we loved hangin on lot. Couple of hours go by drinking more beer and party favors involved and the fire house chili is a knockin. What a disaster I have to go into the stadium BADLY to take a dump. Now my options are few here I gotta make my move before the bathroooms in the stadium turn in to an old factory night mare. My girlfriend and buddy can't belive how stupid I am and we all go in alot earlier for all of our tastes.Moral of the story don't eat fire house chili on show day. The band was good Steve Miller was good the horns came and we thought Casey Jones was coming but that would happen @ RFK a week or so later.First and last tinme I dropped a duce in a stadium too, I still get fed sh@t about the incident @ Giants to this day. Keeps me on my toes and I know what not to order when going to a public venue. Thanks boys for a real good time! P.S. The fire house chili was excellent if you were wondering. Nothing to tell now, let the words be yours I am done with mine...

Music is why I love life so much. Live music only makes it better. In music, I beleive everyone can find PEACE..... Sadly the world isn't ready..

I never really looked at the significance of my last shows final songs.... I guess it is as fitting a tribute anyone could ask for. I so vividly remember Jerry being super imposed upon the big screen next to a full moon as he settled into an already magnificent song, Standing on the Moon. Then came the big message from Bobby that we had to take some responsibility for the current conditions of the world we lived in... Followed by Jerry once again bidding me a fond fare well with Not Fade Away and the E. Knocking On Heavens Door. All these years later and I am making plans for my summer tour once again. A bit different then a duffel bag full of clothes and some beer and weed money. Now I'm the Designated Driver... I leave behind an understanding wife and the youngest of my children as embark on a new journey with the older. She knows someone better off will return. Anyway, I'm as grateful as ever and my daughter doesn't wanna hit any shows this summer. So if my son won't come it looks like I'll do fine with the old gang. Same guys doing the same thing... Sorta like the guys up on stage. It's give and take like Phil says... I often wonder what type of miserable ass hole I would be had it not been for the Grateful Dead?

not my last show..... but almost.... either way it was the last tour where Jerry had any spirit left in him.... I wish he knew ho willing we all would have been to let him go relax and heel... I miss my old friend...

Four rows in front of Bruce Hornsby. When they played "STANDING ON THE MOON", their was a full moon that night. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. Jerry was " SOBER" at this time and did not miss a lick. PHENOMINAL !!!
