Ooooh the water, I hope it don't rain on me.... Well it was out in California by the San Diego sea That was when I was taken in and it left its mark on me Yeah she nearly drove me crazy with all those China toys And I know she really didn't mean a thing to any of those sailor boys Louisiana rain is falling at my feet Baby I'm noticing the change as I move down the street Louisiana rain is soaking through my shoes I may never be the same when I reach Baton Rouge South Carolina put out its arms for me Right up until everything went black somewhere on Lonely Street And I still can't quite remember who helped me to my feet Thank God for a love that followed the angel's remedy Louisiana rain is falling just like tears Running down my face, washing out the years Louisiana rain is soaking through my shoes I may never be the same when I reach Baton Rouge Well I never will get over this English refugee Singing to the jukebox in some all-night beanery Yeah he was eating pills like candy and chasing them with tea You should have seen him lick his lips, that old black muddied beak Louisiana rain is falling at my feet Baby I'm noticing the change as I move down the street Louisian rain is soaking through my shoes I may never be the same when I reach Baton Rouge Louisiana rain is falling just like tears Running down my face, washing out the years Louisiana rain is soaking through my shoes I may never be the same when I reach Baton Rouge

Down in the mines. One day closer to the weekend. I wanna go swimming. Everybody, listen to me And return me my ship I'm your captain, I'm your captain Though I'm feeling mighty sick I've been lost now for days uncounted And it's months since I've seen home Can you hear me? Can you hear me? Or am I all alone? If you return me to my home port I will kiss you, Mother Earth Take me back now, take me back now To the port of my birth Am I in my cabin dreaming? Or are you really scheming To take my ship away from me? You'd better think about it I just can't live without it So please don't take my ship from me Yeah, yeah, yeah I can feel the hand of a stranger And it's tightening 'round my throat Heaven help me, heaven help me Take this stranger from my boat I'm your captain, I'm your captain Though I'm feeling mighty sick Everybody, listen to me And return me my ship I'm your captain Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I'm your captain Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I'm your captain Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I'm your captain Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah I'm getting closer to my home I'm getting closer to my home

heartbreaking song... Do you wanna dance, and hold my hand? Tell me you're my lover man. Oh baby, do you wanna dance? We could dance under the moonlight, hug and kiss all through the night. Oh baby, tell me, do you wanna dance with me baby? Do you, do you, do you, do you want to dance? Do you, do you, do you want to dance? Do you, do you, do you, do you want to dance with me baby? Ah, that's right, ah, ah, aaaaaaaah. Do you want to dance under the moonlight? Hug me, kiss me, baby, all through the night. Oh baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, tell me, do you want to dance? Oh, do you, do you, do you, do you want to dance? Do you want to dance? Do you, do you, do you, do you want to dance with me baby? You got to dance with me baby. Please dance with me baby additional lyrics from the quadrophonic version Tonight you, you got to dance with me baby. Please, please, please dance with me baby. Please, please, please, please dance with me baby. Please, you got to . . . At least the hard part is over, for me at least. Going downhill on the hump till we slide into the weekend. Thanks for keepin the dream alive. We're floating together on an endless river...on a makeshift raft.

Looking back on the memory of The dance we shared 'neath the stars above For a moment all the world was right How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd have had to miss the dance Holding you I held everything For a moment wasn't I a king But if I'd only known how the king would fall Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all And now I'm glad I didn't know The way it all would end the way it all would go Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain But I'd have had to miss the dance Yes my life is better left to chance I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for the place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing You come in to look for a king Anybody could be that guy Night is young and the music's high With a bit of rock music, everything is fine You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance... You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen You're a teaser, you turn 'em on Leave them burning and then you're gone Looking out for another, anyone will do You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance... You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen [fade]

Have you seen her? So fine and pretty. Fooled me with her style and ease. And I feel her from across the room. Yes, it's love in the third degree. Ooh, baby, baby. Won'tcha turn your head my way? Ooh, baby, baby. Come on, take a chance. You're old enough to dance the night away. Oh, come on, baby, dance the night away. A live wire. Barely a beginner, but just watch that lady go. She's on fire, 'cause dancing gets her higher than anything else she knows. Ooh, baby, baby. Won'tcha turn your head my way? Ooh, baby, baby. Well, don't skip romance, 'cause you're old enough to dance the night away. Oh, come on, baby, dance the night away. Dance the night away. Dance, dance, dance the night away.

She was a be-bop baby on a hard day's nightShe was hangin' on Johnny, he was holdin' on tight I could feel her coming from a mile away There was no use talking, there was nothing to say When the band began to play and play And we danced like a wave on the ocean, romanced We were liars in love and we danced Swept away for a moment by chance And we danced, danced, danced I met my be-bop baby at the Union Hall She could dance all night and shake the paint off the walls But when I saw her smile across a crowded room, yeah Well I knew we'd have to leave the party soon As the band began to play out of tune And we danced like a wave on the ocean, romanced We were liars in love and we danced Swept away for a moment by chance And we danced, danced, danced, yeah and we danced The endless beat, she's walkin' my way Hear the music fade when she says Are we getting too close, do we care to get closer The room is spinning as she whispers my name And we danced like a wave on the ocean, romanced We were liars in love and we danced Swept away for a moment by chance And we danced, danced And we danced like a wave on the ocean, romanced We were liars in love and we danced Swept away for a moment by chance And we danced, danced, danced And we danced and we danced And we danced, oh baby And we danced, danced, danced Oh and we danced

I am prepped and ready for my face to be melted clean off my head on 11/20. Caught a few glipses and musical interludes of last nights show...Hey Rich, you had a good spot! I have two extra seats for the Dead and Co in STL so unless someone comes out of the woodwork who wants them I am going to be seat hopping back and forth between club seats and section 110. And to the OD last night at Da Buff...learn to hold ur shit maaan...I wouldn't want to miss a second of the show.

i don't understand this evil. i wonder what this will do to the very young, growing up in fear of these kinds of acts. i recall the atom bomb drills of the cold war when i was in elementary school, but we did not really understand what it was all about. there was no 24x7 CNN and other coverages, showing all the carnage. we knew the bomb was bad but we did not fully grasp the danger i think. the young kids today get to SEE it over and over. parents, grandparents, please hug and reassure the little ones.

Been following this tour since 10/29 Albany, playing has gotten much tighter but is it me or are the set lists getting predictable and stagnant? Same songs being rotated in different order, repeating every 3 shows or so. Now I know Mayer and Oteil are new to this but, well just want to see if anyone else shares the opinion, maybe I just need a break from it.... Contrasting to Phil's recent runs at the Cap...on 11/1 he pulled out day job for the encore....whilst not a barn burner of a classic dead song it did put a smile on my face....if for no other reason, spontaneity. Come to find out that night he replayed the 11/1/85 set list song for song...reminds me of going to see DSO. Anyway to all who are yet to go, enjoy.....these are some high energy shows for sure....and being there is well worth your time....at least once.

Hi everyone, Just checking in, as I have mostly had my head down attending to the mundane for the last few months. However, I got the chance to spin my noggin a bit last week at the Broomfield and Vegas shows (despite a nagging cough). The shows were great--11/28 2nd set, in particular, was very notable. Got to see Gob and (you can call me) James in Vegas so that was a treat. Gob even brought Christmas to the show . . . literally. Hoping to go to Cali at the end of the month but we will see.

...now, more than ever, we need to celebrate the good in our country, and the Good Old Grateful Dead have sure provided a lot of that. While not minimizing what happens tragically, we do need to focus on peace, love and bringing a smile to those around us. Mona posted that today was the official name change for the Boys to the Grateful Dead, and that happened 50 years ago...so happy happy birthday guys. As I reflect on the violence that seems to happen on an unfortunate regular basis, I can't help but think as a society we can do a better job. Think globally, act locally comes to mind....and for me, that starts with my own personal thoughts and what kind of spirit I want to have, and project to those close by. We can each make this place a better place, and we each need to do that. We each need to take responsibility for our thoughts, words and deeds, and strive to make this world a better place, one smile, one song, one hug at a time. So greet a friend, look someone in the eye, and say "I care". Think good thoughts, and yes, mourn and grieve as necessary, but know that your smile, your gesture, your words are important to us all. Best wishes, good thoughts and prayers to those hurting today. May the music provide warmth, your friends provide compassion, and memories of a real good time bring a smile to your spirit. Take care one and all...you matter to us as you matter to your friends and family. Peace to you and yours. geo

Geo, your thoughts are spot on and if we all took those words to heart the world would indeed be a better place. These are troubling times for sure. Thank the Great Spirit for the Good Ole Grateful Dead...a box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through.

Did anyone notice excessive grainy picture quality during segments of their blu-ray or dvd video discs? Most noticeable on July 4th disc 2, during the fireworks. Interested to find out either way. Trying to determine if it was produced that way or if it's a defective disc. Otherwise it's an amazing capture of a magical week in Chicago. Thanks.
