Brentski
Happy Birthday "Brentski" was so cool. This was my first show. If anyone remembers the chick in an orange skirt who just couldn't get up to leave....... that was me. lol I stayed for a while, couldn't find my shoe, couldn't find my head either. Was a real eye-opener, for sure.
I didn't have to go too far to fall out. We stayed across the street at the Reunion Hilton. Isn't that the one with the dome? Oh, what a night that was. I think I scared the people at the desk at the hotel. I don't think they liked having hot and sweaty hippies staying there! lmao The freaks were all over the place that night!
Personally important show.
This was the show I got back "on the bus".
The greatest Foolish Heart I
The greatest Foolish Heart I ever heard, bar none!
Yes I agree!!
No better Foolish Heart ever!!! Watchtower really rocked as well.
LAST TEXAS SHOW!!!
Awesome, awesome Foolish Heart!
That Foolish Heart, and the Sugar Mags rocked too. I remember we bought tons of beer to schwing and we got there early but we weren't sure what the cop scene was like so we kept it on the DL, to put it in 21st century vernacular. Sure enough there were some kids right near us selling beer and the cops nabbed them. So we just waited for the crowd to thicken up and we sold out. The difference between greenies and some veterans.

After this show.
We headed west out to the Bay area. We saw Arlo Guthrie at the Great American Music Hall one night, and then we saw Doc Watson at the Great American the next night. We saw Devo in the Quad on the UC campus in Berkeley (what a hoot) and then we saw The Jerry Garcia Band on Halloween night at the Henry J Kaiser Center. Edgar Winter and Leon Russell opened the show. They rocked, playing an Edgar song and then playing a Leon song. They closed the show with a burnin' version of Frankenstein. After this ragin' show Jerry came out and played one of the mellowest JGB shows I ever attended. Great night. Warewolves of London to open. Heck, here is the setlist.
10/31/88 (Mon) Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center - Oakland, CA
Set 1: Werewolves of London, Cats Under The Stars, Forever Young, Stop That Train, Run For The Roses, Think, Throw Out The Lifeline*, That Lucky Old Sun, Deal, E: My Sisters And Brothers
* first time played

Trisket for a ticket
I had a great time at this show!! I had an extra ticket and rather than sell it to some bozo I gave it to a guy for free that was yelling "Trisket for a ticket!" He was beyond happy and gave me the whole box and some good "party favors" They kicked butt that night and they played "Duprees DB" which always makes me happy!!

I had no idea what I was in for....
Turns out I'm in for life. Just can't imagine where I'd be today had I not discovered the Grateful Dead tribe, my lifeline and saving grace.... My day of birth was 2/14/70. My day of rebirth was 10/21/88. I thank the Great Eternal Spirit that the kind connection was made and I can say that I Am now & forever Gratefully Deadicated! ~ Michael
Dallas Grime
Great show, only the Dallas vibe was crazy! Last night was sunny and beautiful, while this night was shadowed by the gloom of the cityscape and the end of a tour. I remember, however, meeting a beautiful soul lost in acid-land for who knows how long. I wonder where he is now.
Different Vibe
Could definitely feel a different vibe with the parking lot scene. More of a young element having an excuse to party than actually giving a shit about the event inside. Times were changing in the Deadworld forever.
