- matchewy8 years 7 months ago@redemption seekerThis already had a CD release on the 30 Trips Around the Sun box set. I picked this up yesterday, and what I find curious is the absence of "Pressed by RTI" on the shrink wrap, like all the other RSD releases. If this wasn't pressed at RTI, then where? Cut by who? My guess is the same plant that pressed the From the Vault vinyl records, which were cut by Kevin Gray, but the plant is not mentioned. This is my main problem with RSD releases, some of the most ambiguous mastering, cutting, and pressing plant info out there. Only one of my RSD scores had any pressing plant info (Son Volt Live-QRP pressing). It would be a shame to see GD step away from RTI for their RSD pressings. This being said, the wax sounds great and has a nice, quiet background. Update: I did find where One From the Vault was cut at Cohearant Audio, where Kevein Gray does al lot of work. Assuming this was cut by Kevin Gray, I would assume it was cut at Cohearant. Update 2: duh, I should have read the cover. Lacquers cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman, but this doesn't reveal pressing plant. Usually Chris Bellman's initials are easy to identify in the matrix, but not on this vinyl.
- redemption searcher8 years 7 months agoCD Audio?Does anyone know if there will be a CD comparison of this released, on the day or afterwards? Have only followed one or two of these things, think they did CDs of one but not the other. Don't really care about the vinyl craze, but care about the music of course!
- Happy Will8 years 7 months agoFantastic but can we move away from RSD releases? As I prefer the sound of good vinyl to CD's I am really pleased about this release - it is on my wish list. However a UK price I have seen equates to $160 and numerous pre-RSD sales on e-bay are at similar levels. So while RSD has been fantastic for motivating releases that may not have seen the light of day I do wish we could move away from the RSD hype and consequential rip-off - sell them direct - at 7,700 it won't sell out for a while.

here we go. Which will be next?
I dig the idea...but when i think of vynil i think of pops and scratches, something I wouldn't like with the GD.
but i can see benefits.
do you think vinul is worth it?
vinyl x 100
I think that is appropriate for 4LP. This is supposed to be a limited edition of 7,700.
I think 11.10.67, (3LP) another show from 30 Trips set is a limited run of 6,700 and was priced at $70, some could find for $60-65.
Pricing seems to fall in line
4LP for $70-80 , limited run of 7700
3LP for $60-70 , limited run of 6700 ,, if anything the Shrine showed seems to be priced a little bit higher due to the fact the size run is supposed to be a 1000 less units.
Anyway, I hope they do a promotional add-on with this release, maybe some apparel or print. The artwork from Tony Millionaire is very nice
Unkle Sam - which is next ? Since these two were the most obvious choices for vinyl along with the 1989 Miami show I would suspect that 10.26.89.. Maybe as alternate choice - 9.18.87 MSG to keep the theme, 67' 77' 87' & depending on which fits better on an LP. I'm not sure the Dark Star from Miami will fit on one side, so that maybe a factor in the decision. Either way both would be nice addition to vinyl
I wish they would have gotten more creative with they're selection, rather than release ANOTHER show from the 30 trips box. I won't pay for this show twice, I'll just wait for the next Dave's Picks to arrive. Not excited anymore for this record store day, now that I know I already have this show :(
With the proper gear, a good pressing, good source material and decent packaging, the answer is yes it's worth it...at a fair price of course.
What's even better is buying vinyl and getting a version (free download or cd) of the album with the LP.
