    10/13/68......
    ..... is better than 10/12/68. Just kidding. Its all subjective anyway. Both these shows are so close in playing I have a hard time differentiating which show is which. But I do think each one is fantastic. Oct. '68 is a good month in my book.

    10.12.77 - Manor Downs piece
    I heard this a few months back on Sirius, excellent stuff in this 1977 piece and to me it had some hints of 1969. A fierce "Other One" was reminiscent leading into "Black Peter" and then a "Truckin into "Nobody's Fault But Mine" brought the feeling again for me

Welcome back to the Tapers’ Section, where this week we’ll check out Grateful Dead music covering a 21 year span, 1968-1989.

Our first selection this week is at one of the Grateful Dead’s primary hometown venues in the late 1960s, the Avalon Ballroom on 10/13/68, where we have the classic sequence from the period of Dark Star>St. Stephen>The Eleven, Death Don't Have No Mercy.

From nine years later on 10/12/77 at Manor Downs in Autsin, TX, we have this epic second set jam sequence of Estimated Prophet > He's Gone > Drums> The Other One > Black Peter > Truckin' > Nobody's Fault But Mine> Iko Iko > Sugar Magnolia.

Our final selection this week is from 10/11/89 at the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, NJ, the opening night of a five night run, featuring the start of the second set: China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider ; Estimated Prophet>Terrapin Station.
