Well, I heartily agree with the sentiment, which is why I'm pretty sure I started such a topic months ago, but I'll go find where it's buried. Meanwhile, Hunter and Barlow both have non-forum pages here: http://www.dead.net/band

But I can't seem to find where he is posted as a topic. I know that several of us wished him a Happy Birthday. Could he and John Perry Barlow be listed in the subsection Grateful Deadunder section Grateful Dead along with the other band members where they both belong? It's just not right that it is easier to find a topic Lilly Allen on this site than Robert Hunter. Thank You. much to be thankful for. everything is back up and running. and, to top it off, finally a new release in what i hope is a lengthy number of releases. after all the rhino bashing (which i've been involved in) i placed my order as soon as i could. hypocrisy or addiction? you be the judge ...

It is not dead. Some things failed to converge this week and they're working on getting it together. The big fat server meltdown has no doubt slowed things down a bit. When I learn more I'll post it, if TS isn't up by then.

How could we not empathize with you on your 10/31 post? What just happened to you is kinda like what was happening to most of those fans at Winterland (and most other Dead fans) right before Phil finally played the intro to Dark Star on 12/31/78. I was relatively new to the scene at that time but it was a big deal back then and still is today. A lot of Dead fans were getting what they needed for a lot of shows and then ... they got what they wanted. Is patience still a virtue? God, let's hope so. Are anger and being quarrelsome about money acceptable in the Grateful Dead world (huge breath before I run) - God, let's hope not. "From day to day, just lettin' it ride, You get so far away from how it feels inside, You can't let go, 'cause you're afraid to fall, But the day may come when you can't feel at all."

I wonder if one reason why there has been some squabbling a bit in some of the forums is the basic issue of never knowing a person's tone of voice or emotions or facial expressions in the post. sure, the Tibet issue and the whole idea of organized religion etc etc are HOT topics, but I wonder if a simple solution, or a simple way to make things better (more clear) would be possible... what I suggest is the availability of little icon emotions, or little smile faces, that we have available, easily available, please; that people can add to their posts to kind of 'set the mood' know what I mean? I use these: ( -: or ( -; like yahoo mail or something has tons of cool little dudes to put in email. that said, I never figured out how to use them, just my neice who is only a small fry dude, knows how and she includes them. ) -; peace.

and I don't know the current status. In my experience, people are just about evenly divided in the emoticon-fan and emoticon-phobe camps, but they do seem to come up with new and complex varieties. I stick with the ascii ones like your examples myself, but some software converts them automatically.

The search function seems really broken. Searching on a simple keyword (e.g. pitch) yields a bunch of hits. Each hit shows an excerpt of the post that contains the keyword. So far so good. Now, if I click on the link to view the entire post that contained the keyword match I'm simply taken to the thread that contained the post instead of being taken to the actual post. The link doesn't even take me to the *page* within the thread that contains the post. A given thread may have a dozen pages with a hundred posts in total. I guess I have to slog through each page of the thread using the search function in my browser to try and find the actual post that your search engine showed me an excerpt of. Am I missing something or is the search function as useless as it appears to be?

I started exactly at 12 to purchase tickets for 4/25 at the Garden. After about an hour I gave up. Now there are a ton of tickets on StubHub. How did they get in? It really pisses me off that I didn't get tickets and the people who did a-are not going and b-are making a profit selling their tix. Anyone else feeling that?

I was hoping to catch a show of the Dead coming to Philly, but looks like it is already sold out and the tickets were 100 bucks each. Are they worth it, YES. Is this Dead acting historically, NO. I remember getting a special invite as a Daedhead to see the group for a nite at the Tower Theater. This was 1976, no internet, a letter, mailed my check and got 2 third row seats for me and my wife for one of the best nights of music that I remember.. Warren Haynes is no Jerry, I like him, I would go see them, but can't afford it in this years economy."You the one thing I need is a left handed monkey wrench" Jim John 3:16

Why does the GD stress the Jerry Garcia Family LLC is (mainly his daughters)? Who cares? Is Deborah despised that much? Or am I assuming too much? I don't know her and I don't care. If what is said about her behavior after Jerry's death is true it says she has problems but WE ALL do. There is no way of knowing nothing unless we were there. Think, would you want to be under so much public pressure, your every move is scrutinized. What happened to forgiveness? Please remove "mainly Jerry's daughters". Its insulting to us and WHOMEVER the band is protecting. I think the band's behavior's becoming eractic. Roger

sorry you don't like the way things are here, but you'll note that pretty quickly after that topic was posted, one of your fellow Heads took it upon himself to post the legal documents about the exact makeup of the LLC, so what is too much information for some folks is not nearly enough for others. We try to muddle along and coexist anyway.

There was a time I would write the GD anything to any email address I could find and someone would respond. I once asked why Brent was cropped out of band photos and got a response. What's that whirling sound? Its Jerry spinning in his grave. This new system is soooo impersonal, I hope there are riots this tour. Roger

It being family in the first place, your in or your out. Being on tour, I'm darn sure every band member got over the hump somehow. Traveling , picking the tunes , etc. it just isn't a perfect world. Robert HUNTER , WHERE R U? Mickey and Phil patched things up? The Dead were all about breaking rules , if not doing the best that they do ; not one show is identical from another one. Love the Band for that reason.(separates the men from the boys) Counting down the days till Phili, so see ya there Robert Hunter. God , Allah, or whoever wears the pants in the universe , just make it happen. And like the man said; Days Inbetween. Lol. Kottonmouthjeff

Marye: You'll need to guide me better. Where do I find the doc's re: the LLC? I'm curious, why do they insist on "mainly Jerry's daughters". And I defended Dborah, if her real name is Deborah, who knows what if anything about her is true? And please note, Wednesday I received part of my GD store order, so what is it, cancelled or shipped? Oy vay! I did let the pressures of my life spill over and for that apologize. Franky baby.

I get the impression that everything here is canned and pre-created. Everywhere I look there does not appear to be an area to post. This lives up to my impression of the whole Dead organization as being the closest thing to Hippie Nazis. Hell, your web site doesn't even accurately tell the members of the band.. and some of those pictures are so old it is pathetic. This whole forum is a total mess - perhaps you designed it to be confusing so your pre-made canned phony comments could stay in the locked forum and people who saw the shows and thought they stunk aren't able to speak the truth. Face it - this band should not exist - Jerry died and 50% of the creativity died with it.. the other 25% is Bob Weir and the other 25% was PigPen. Your overpriced tickets in huge crap venues like the Forum in LA show that you don't care about the fans, as much as you try to portray the cool hippie aesthetic. We know your true colors. I bet your T-shirts are manufactured in China. This tour will be a flop, I predict.

Godwin's Law strikes again http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law give mentous a prize: a free ticket to the LA Forum and a Tour -Shirt! Seriously though, I am not sure the concept of the 'Live' show reviews is working too well either. But folk have posted some interesting, critical and sometimes negative reviews of the shows. And if they were there, are happy, high and want to tell everyone, why shouldn't they?

mebbe my posts make little to no sense but they are all mine, pal....nuffin' canned. ain't no-one paid me to write anything. isn't it odd you would predict a flop when the tour is half over? when folks have been saying how much they have enjoyed themselves? how wonderful it has been to see old friends and family? apparently something has been a monumental disappointment to you, to the extant that it has caused you to be delusional........'t's ok, man....have a cookie and relax...YOU don't have to be pleased with the music, the rest of us will try to be....

This is picky, but the entry for Big Boss Man mentions that Bob sang Big Boss Man in the '80s. But it doesn't mention that Jerry also sang it. He did a great job on it in the New Years Eve show of 12/31/81. PigPen would have approved. http://www.dead.net/song/big-boss-man
